  1. Supersprints would be the best and cheapest step from deca. Doesn't require cage. If you want to go further you need to look at what car you have can be classed as. As a tip, I gave up tracking my 33 cause there was really no class/point unless I had 11ty billion dollars. Went with mx5 as cheaper and can enter many series and events and classes. With the 180 I would... Either take it somewhere or do it myself But do... Fluids such as coolant change, oil and filter, fuel filter, bleed brakes and change pads and rotors. Then see I'd you can enter any supersprints at winton, PI, sandown etc if you want to sart in a comp/series. Then enjoy it!
  2. race 2 fk me, cannot embed this one for some reason lol
  3. small vid of my PB at SMP South [VID] ]
  4. It's a new event, it got entries, could be the start of bigger things. What's not to like? Hey your hate for mx5s I guess! Lol Mx5s are affordable and can be competitive. Who cares? Why don't you do something proactive and promote it toget other entries too? Would give you business may be also?
  5. And..........................................?
  6. not much of an update, havent touched the car since last MRA round. did Festival of Sporting Cars today at SMP soouth. was in the race class 'historic and invited sports cars' qualified 5th out of 21 with a 1.05.68 and race 1 ended up 3rd with a 1.05.67! now the interesting part. I came 3rd but did the 7th fastest lap. So in this meet I started 7th based on lap time. weird. Anyhoo, race 2 came 5th and thats when the rain started to hit. last race was a handicap race. So if you were slow, you had a better starting place on the track. We all started at same time but everyone was at different starting points. Ended up catching and overtaking quite a number of cars in the rain. Turns out I came 1st! won the last race! vids to come. one thing about FoSC which I think is fantastic is the lunch time partners parade. As my Dad was out there watching and supporting me, I couldnt think of anything better for him than to throw him the keys. He ABSOLUTELY loved it! might see him and his NA6 out at the track soon now, think I got him hooked!!! on the dummy grid for last race not the clearest photo race 1 mazda dominate! me in 3rd. http://racing.natsoft.com.au/635483948/object_12206240.91W/View?7
  7. PB today at SMP South - 1.05.6
  8. As for race suit...I got my sparco 2 layer from demon tweaks in the uk for just over 400 au delivered. Normally 800-1k here
  9. Jimmy, call CIL they do more caravans and motor homes but also car trailers. I had a quote off them 2 years back and were cheaper than Shannon's, they are a sister company to Shannon's too. In other news...forgot to post...Santa Fe went on a tow truck and back to dealer. Fuel pump died! All good and a warranty job. Great service and no issues. Also managed 7.9l per 100 on the weekend Towing this weekend to smp. Thank f**k not to Wakefield! Getting over that long drive!
  10. MRA (MX5 challenge and superTT) and FoSC Racer here... looking to do enduro's next year with Wakefield 300 and Modern Sports Cars. 3rd year doing Mx5 challenge. started off doing sprints. $100 a year for the national AASA circuit licence plus a medical. my car is AASA and CAMs log booked but CBF doing any CAMS events. too expensive.
  11. this is race three with Craig's incar and mine.
  12. Finally an update... MRA Round 2. qualifying was tough, we had 23 cars on the track. 15 MX5s and 8 Excels. couldnt get into space and managed a 1.13.2 putting me 11 out of 15 on the Mx5 grid. race 1 got a great start. made a couple spots up the field however last lap I tried too hard and came off and spun at turn 4, did a 360, car stopped and stalled and wouldnt restart. My first DNF this year. that put me to starting last on the MX5 grid (we had a shared race with the excels) made a few moves, got ahead of some others, last lap chasing the bloke from race 1 and I manage a PB with a 1.12.3 not bad for 82rwkw!! last race was the trophy race. the whole race was an epic battle as you'll see in the vid below. enbded up 3rd in 2F class again which was great. my PB lap race 3 highlights Next event is FoSC 1st June.
  13. Hi all, If anyone is interested FoSC have a round at SMP South. Can do regularity or door to door. Need AASA national minimum for the latter. $180.00 entry. www.fosc.com.au I'll be there in marque and prod sports class.
  14. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=E1s-L1QMdAo&sns=em&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DE1s-L1QMdAo%26sns%3Dem Sorry for not linking properly...posting off iPhone haha
  15. Ooohhhh ok then haha
  16. Really?? Why wouldn't it fit in TT? There are EVOs and Silvia's in TT. Why wouldn't this fit? If you can have an LS1 RX7 racing...180 would be fine. God084 - same bloke from track chat forums? Yes, the mra website hasn't been updated for aaaaages! If you are on Facebook there is a SuperTT group and MRA page which may help.
  17. You'll need what fatz said.... Then.... Car that can tow 2.5t easily and legally. (r33 weighs 1400? Trailer will be 500kg min then tools) my105.com.au have car trailers for sale all the time. I paid 1500 second hand but is built for small gay cars like mine. Rego is 167 a year plus pink slip. As for car, I do agree with Matt to some point. More stock, longer it'll go! Even fatzseseses GTR with minor bolt ons can do 300 laps of Wakefield with no issues! If just doing drift/speed off street days I'd just get standard motor, usual oil and intercooler mods, then good brake pads and fluid, some basic coilovers and have some fun.
  18. good vid John, Im hanging to try winton!
  19. cheers Chris! that looked fun too! here is race 3 of our Mx5 race.
  20. not as quick as you lot, but a 1.12.3 at wakie now [media] ]
  21. so the santa fe had its first towing trip. managed 9.2L per 100 down to Wakefield from Gosford. 280kms some times I had to remind myself i was towing however the noise did remind me. being a wagon the noise from the hitch was quite loud going over bumps and stuff. in the commodore no where near as loud. coming back managed 9.7L per 100 as the stupid M2 had road works and of all the traffic lights from M2 to F3 I got 95% of them as red lights haha
  22. Improvement from last Jan at Wakie. now a 1.12.3. only change...I painted the letters on my tyres...ha! 82rwkw race 2, MX5 Challenge, MRA Round 2 14/4/13
  23. regularity - nominate a time and stick to consistancy. if you can do for example, 1.09.5 flat out at 110% driving, if you want to win you would niminate say a 1.10.5 so you can drive a bit less aggressive. the closer you are to nominated time, the better you go in the comp. you can always reselect your time prior to next session apparantly. my wife will be doing it in July's round, great into to motorsport. in other news, was a fantastic day yesterday, i'll do a proper write up later but managed a 1.12.3 which is a PB and 3rd in trophy race.
