  1. Ok going down to order these brakes. So of the 2 Brake options shown above (AP Racing or Brembo) whats the general consensus on which is best, i'm leaning towards the Brembos purely to keep with the factory theme, but am not really fussed either way. Which do you guys reckon is the way to go...? Also the bloke down there wants to buy my old Cross drilled 296mm discs and factory calipers...what do you reckon they are worth as I have no idea!...? Cheers

  3. Yeah thats for all 4, and is retail price, i wont be buying them so they'll be somewhat cheaper @ Trade price. FTR the guy at the brake place says the Brembos and AP Calipers are similar in Performance but the Brembos offer more W*nk value....?....Never really thought of them like that but as there so similarly priced I prefer the Brembos only because the GTRs came with Brembos. The 330mm G4 8 Piston Brakes sold by Just Jap for $2499 including Pads brackets and braided lines does seem like good value indeed
  4. Well, went to check out the brakes and pricing etc today....and was a little bit more than I thought! First up you cannot get DBA5000 rotors for the Standard 296mm R32 GTR, so it looks like (If I can cover the cost thru work) I'll be going for the 355mm DBA 5000 Discs's with either Brembo or AP Racing Calipers, with Braided lines, fluid and pads it retails for $10400 for the AP Racing or $9800 for the Brembos....
  5. Well as everyone has said lucky your not hurt. But im guessin you can't do or expect to much from your mate as by the looks of the damage you guys were fair flying, and guessing again you'd have given him permission to do so.....?
  6. Excellent result, you've gotta be happy with that I was going to go the SS's but thought I'd always be thinking what if i'd bought the RS's...... So since the other half had given the go ahead I thought i'd seize the opertunity (since baby is on way and if I dont act now i'll never get em!) Was going to enter WRXOC Track day at Collie on the 16 September but I think this is full already so looks like first test will be Track night @ Barbegello on the 28th...won this last time around (61 seconds dead) on bald import tyres, so should be good comparison.
  7. Perfect thanks man
  8. So no ones replaced there standard carpet in an R32..? Just I have checked adverts for Moulded car carpets, and the R32 is never listed (generally only R31s) .
  9. Some good info there thanks guys I am taking my GTR to Perth Brake Parts next week to upgrade my brakes (Can only use this mob so as I can get parts thru work). Couple more things: Say I fit the DBA 4000/5000 discs, will they be the same diameter as my standard R32 GTR Discs? Can I increase the disc size on standard Calipers? Is it really nessacary having fitted decent Discs, Pads, and Fluid to increase caliper size? Judging by what has been said in this thread regarding the DBA4000's, I am leaning towards the DBA5000's discs, but what is the general consensus on which pad you would choose with these discs from: EBC Red Stuff DS2500 DS3000 Pagid Thanks Again
  10. Thats what I was thinking... BTW, BBGTR love your car....it is the spitting image of mine (Only somewhat faster by the sounds of it!...)
  11. This is the report back from my GTR last week. http://users.tpg.com.au/realj/Wheel%20Alignment.jpg I'm having a little trouble deciphering it What is my actual Camber Toe Castor ?
  12. I have my 2nd track day coming up since buying my GTR. My GTR runs standard cross drilled Discs and calipers with unknown pads and Fluid. It performed reasonably well on its first outing under brakes, not overly powerfull (standing on the pedal did'nt seem to provoke the ABS) but the car pulled up consistently over the night, and put on a great fire show (like a giant childs sparkler!) under hard braking. Thought I might replace both fluid and pads for this meet see if it makes any difference. What do you guys recomend? I have used 'Green Stuff' and 'Metal Kings' in inferior cars at track days and they seemed to perform OK, but have never ever bled and replaced fluid, so have no idea there. Thanks Lindsay
  13. Haha yeah I hate taking my car over the pits at the best of times! I actually had a 'roll around on the floor fight' with a pit inspector (in my younger days) after overhearing him call my car a POS Hopefully all will go OK on re-visit, I do not think they can pick you for anything that is not already on your work order from the first visit so you should be OK
  14. Nothing particularly wrong with the current carpet in my GTR, other than the carpet that comes from the factory looks and feels crap! I'd like some Dark Grey Plush / cut pile stuff Does anyone know where I can get this, preferably in Perth?
  15. Good to see you've almost got the GTR on the road...its been a while! IMO the Alluminium plates look better than the Polycarb variety, I went slimline on front and full size rear. Dont cut anything!....just put the plate in a vice as I did below and make a nice clean bend, looks neat and tidy and do'snt ruin anything.
  16. I Could'nt wait.....and have bought the Federal 595-RS in 265/35/18's They certainly look pretty cool, to early to tell on the driving...

  18. Straight from the factory Lada's = Lemons Anything from England during the 70's = Lemon Anything wrong with a GTR from when it left the factory would be purely mistreatment on its owner(s) behalf
  19. He's from Newcastle in the UK's sunny North East
  20. Customs wont mind the Skyline....... They don't like 'Jordies' However

  22. hrd-hr30: As with any competitive driver I want to win everything I enter....as soon as someone mentions 'Stopwatch or Timing' the 'red mist' decends!! But I cannot warrant the reletively big budget (even at Club level) required to have a truely competitive car (spare rims with comp Rs, suspension and Brake upgrades / tweaks etc) So far I have never had a car with anything like good tyres, infact i have 'never' actually bought brand new tyres for any of my performance cars in the past!...yet have still managed to win or place high in recent track days / Hillclimbs etc So even the 595-SS's would be far better than anything I have had prior I would be very interested to see how you get on and rate the 595-SS's, make sure you post results or PM me please Cheers lindsay
