George Eames 1996 Nissan R33 GTR 254.2 HP Robert Craddock R33 Skyline GTST 272.5 HP Either thats one seriously broken GTR, or someone changed a setting on the dyno before your run. I'm calling shinaningans
-
With the mods you have, 273 sounds close to the hp you'd have at the engine, not the wheels. Are Speedworks sure the dyno wasn't set to estimate power at the engine?

Last time I went over the pits, I specifically asked them if I needed to carry a spare tyre and the inspector told me quite bluntly that they couldn't care less. "A spare tyre is only there for your convenience", he said. So no need to worry about that

Theres also STR Power, an american based company who have adjustable gears available for the RB26 on request from Motorex. Very well made. http://strpower.com/strcamgearintro.htm I've send them an email asking for single pricing and 5+ set pricing to Australia. It probably won't be good news though, considering the value of the aussie peso.

Another option, for those of us who want to keep VCT and be able to adjust cam timing, is to slot the factory inlet gear. I don't know if its possible in our case, but I have heard of other factory gears being modified to adjust timing without trouble. I'd still go with an aftermarket gear for the exhaust cam though, as lighter wieght gears have their advantages.
-
For RB25DET's, its not possible to fit a cam gear onto intake shaft without remving VCT timing sensors and possibily swapping the intake cam shaft for a non-VCT item. So people with stock cams only need one adj cam gear, for exhaust cam.

Nengun has HKS gear for $185 each. http://www.nengun.siteblast.com/courses.as...id=57739&page=1 But I've heard on SDU that they aren't too reliable. With only 3 bolts holding it in place, some people have found the gear to slip under load and mess up timing. Sub-zero have Toda gears for $165 each. They use 5 bolts to hold the gear in place, so it seems like a better bet. I haven't used either product though. http://www.sub-zero.com.au/engine.htm

You asked for it!!! GROUP BUY PINEAPPLES!!!
Gradenko replied to Dr_Drift's topic in Western Australia
If you're talking about installing them in the neutral postion, then yeah, subframe compliance is a bad, bad thing and pineapples are a big help. In the drag position though, the rear is slightly higher and its not all that great for handling. The height increase is not noticable from outside but when driving it, you can feel the higher rear end. Theres more conering grip but It feels more ponderus around corners (slower reacting to changes in direction) and unpredicatable at the limit. Had a close call one night around some twisties (aw11 will attest), same ones I used to take at the same speed without problems previously. In any case, on advice from Jim at Whiteline, I changed the bushes over to neutral setting for a cone dodging event and haven't looked back since. When I go to the drags, its a simple matter to change the position of the bushes, just need a friend, an hour and some beers. So yeah, Nissan designed the R32/R33/S13/Z32 subframe to be anti-squat for a reason, drag racing wasn't on their list of things to do. -
Come on skyzer, pva, macka, adam32, rev and others I've met but haven't named and who want to get totally can't-walk-in-a-stragiht-line trashed. Now is your chance to talk about cars, pick up chicks and not remember anything the next day. Two caveats: (Note: haven't been deesh approved) No sotft****s. If you can't handle a yard glass, this isn't the pub crawl for you. No riceboys. My tolerance for rice drops to a violent level when trashed. That aside, join in

Well done everyone, seem's like (almost) everyone came back happy. Hicks, what was your 60' like? Did you end up running on standard rear rims? Macka, what was your terminal speed like? Must have been pretty good with a 12.98 1/4 and only a 2.25 60'. adam 32, sorry to hear... give us details once you recover.

lol Here, I'll save the thread: mr2 on twistys: http://www.racingstrong.com/video/vid2.mpg (34MB)

adam 32, I'm running 0.95bar through the standard turbo, so around 14psi. I have no real proof, but I think barries reads slightly higher than formaz. Afterall, macka couldn't be making only 15hp more than me, could he?

Didn't go down so well, came off as some git in a car shouting his head off . Maybe if i had a toy glock in the glovebox. Speaking things to hide in the glovebox, when does the pepper spray come in, deesh? Stop giving me such excellent ideas The exa did, I don't think he would have seen me very well. Dark tint on the rear window was half the problem. If I had seen the driver through the rear vision mirror, I wouldn't have been pulling fingers, thats for sure
-
Steve, I'm sure I heard him talk about pfc's at one point, so he has experience with them. When i picked up my car, there was a guy dropping off a vlt to have his wolf3d tuned. Since Barrie tunes stand alone management, he should be ok with pfcs.
-
Thanks for all the support, fellas. Yes, we got his car model, plates and very good visual description. My dad (who was more shook up about the incident than I was), spoke to a friend of his in special division today and we've decided not to lodge a formal charge. I won't go into details, but guys, take into account that the driver of the 2nd car may be a bikie.
-
I know of captain catless and I won't name him either, he probably wouldn't like it very much.
-
See deesh, thats why we all have brackets for our pods. How much play was in the filter when you took it over the pits, Hicks?
-
Yeah, nice pick Brett. Saw it at the cruise meet but didn't get a chance to talk to ya.

Sun was washing out the colour of the other lights, so i couldn't read them in advance. Honest! Heh, I have the orginal deck in the car, no stacker, only 1 of the front 6" speakers work (the other one I removed) and FM reception is really bad. I listen to the exhaust note Why spend money on the stereo when theres horsepower to be had
-
Good stuff, glad you're happy! I'm sure there may be equal/better tuners in Perth, but not at Barries rates.
-
We were all set up for a drag, but I futzed it by trying to read the oppposing lights and missing it when our lights went green. So I let Hicks launch while I looked at the scenary and took it easy. I blame it on position of the sun! The maccas sticker is good for free coke for myself when my goonish friends want food. I never touch the stuff myself. But yeah, might be time to pull it down and stick it to a cassette cover or something. Commercial radio... *barf*. At least listen to JJJ. Commercial radio is for the masses, and the masses are morons. If Ramba was bombed (the big commercial festival), we'd increase the average intelligence of the population by a noticable amount.

So I turn into a single lane road yesterday, the closest car going the same direction was indicating to turn into the street I came from and there was a reasonable space till the 2nd car. Dad was following in his car and he waited for the 2nd car before pulling out. After the 1st car turned off the road, the 2nd car put the boot in and quickly accelerated behind me. Being in my sisters exa, I was struggling to get up to the 60k speed limit and didn't appreciate being pressured like that. The exa's on its last legs and really can't handle much of a beating. Even so, there was plenty of distance for me to get upto speed and not be in the way of the 2nd car, had the 2nd car been driving sensibily. I was doing the speed limit soon enough and I still had this tool-wit sitting mm's from my rear bumper. Usually in this situation I just tap the brakes, but its a painful exercise getting the exa back up to speed, so I give the tool the finger. In 100m's we stop at a set of red lights, I'm at the front of the left turn lane and the 2nd car is behind me. I glance in the rear view mirror and see the tool-wit get out of the car. "Oh, oh", I wind up the window and lock the door. I take another look and I kid you not, I see a fcuking bikie walking towards me. 6 foot, built like a brick shithouse, beard to his nipples, tattoos, the lot. We have a heated shouting match through the glass. He clenches his hand into a fist and aims it at my head. Wham! He thwacks the window, thankfully it doesn't break. I'm looking at traffic wondering when I can drive off. He aims for my head again. Wham! Window is holding tuff. I'm like, "bugger this", and drive though the red light after checking for traffic. Still had it in 3rd geard, so much panicking and jerking before I got it into 1st. The exa barely made it off, but not before the tool-wit gave it a decent kick to the RHR 1/4 panel. Dad was behind the tool-wits car freaking out. Good thing he didn't get out though, cause the tool-wit had a passenger. The exa has a huge dented panel now. Better than a dented head, I guess Lesson for the day: There are bad ppl in Perth! Don't make gestures or even eye contact with other drivers. In Germany, drivers get a $1500 fine for pulling the finger. In South Africa, drivers can get shot for pulling the finger. Would have all ended differently if the bikie pulled out a piece, which we know they can get easily.
