  1. I think deesh knows its a tommy K. Deesh is saying that the rice boy wrecked a perfectly good tommy K by adding silver stripes and a f&f sticker.
  2. IJST8U, are you running with the stock airbox? You wouldn't believe the problems I had with the stock airbox, and yes, one of them was running like buggery 5000rpm+. Try going for a quick squirt with the top of the air box off and see if it makes any difference. Otherwise, its definantly the dreaded igntion retard problem, and only a S-AFC or other ecu is going to fix that.
  3. I was under the impression a single Z32 AFM had the resolution to support upwards of 600hp. Is it that the Z32 AFM can't physically handle ~2bar of pressure or is it that it'll run out tuning resolution? Also, you mention HKS vernier cam gears were your last mod. Cam gears, as in plural. Did you ditch VTC or have you modified the inlet gear to work with VTC? So it makes useable boost by 2500rpm.. would you be happy driving around a circuit with the throttle response you have? Curious as to how a HKS 3040 would drive on the street
  4. Thanks for the explanation. The scan is actually from meggala ( I think), so thank him From what I gather, another benefit of overlap for engines with low exhaust manifold pressure (large turbo's) is to would get boost out the exhaust valves and spool the turbo faster. Since turbo size and camshaft selection is chosen to complement each other, it may be best for me to leave stock camshafts in place with the stock turbo. What I'm really interested in, is whether replacing VTC for a fixed timing cam would really improve everyday driveability (for a properly chosen non-stock cam/turbo combination). You mentioned that a cam with a little overlap, late inlet closing, a bit more lift and no VCT will get more torque everywhere. What about the same cam with VCT, couldn't that provide a little more overlap in low revs to spool the turbo up and still have all the benfits at the top end? Note, I don't know much about this - I'm just wildly guessing
  5. Damn, I didn't think anyone would have the guts (lack of sense?) to run a bigger turbo on the stock 'cooler. 13.389 is an excellent time tho, did you pick his brain about engine and suspension mods?
  6. We were talking about a trip north in our circle, Broome being absolute max (we're not *totally* crazy ). How far south you think flash floods and stuff occur?
  7. Warpspeed, I've been looking into VCT on RB25s and what you said is very interesting. I'm not too familiar with affects of duration and overlap, so can you explain how it works out better to have overlap? Is having overlap present at high rpm a detriment to making power? BTW, what you said about VCT is spot on. Not active at idle, VCT activated just off idle (as measured by TPS), deactivated at around 5000rpm. meggala, what kind of extra wear would you expect the motor to experience from a cam swap? (Apart from wear caused by the driver testing out new-found power at every chance ) Warpspeed, I have a scan of the Option mag (I think) meggala is referring to. Here are the RB engine cams it lists. Any idea what cam your Dyno testing program would reconmend for a stock turbo'd RB25DET, putting out, say, 320hp at the fly? RB25DET IN EX 240 240 7.8 7.8 120 117 RB26DETT (R32, R33) IN EX 240 236 8.58 8.58 113 125 RB26DETT (R34) IN EX 240 236 8.58 8.58 117 121 Option mag scan is too big to attach, download from http://www.iinet.net.au/~bsisko/cams.jpg
  8. Had a similar thing happen to me once, on cold nights, full thottle and it misfired around 4000rpm. Was the plugs. When was your last spark plug change? Gapping mine fixed it. ECU iginition retard after pinging is usually much more subtle.
  9. I couldn't make it to the 'plex tonight, but I was on the phone to a friend during your second run and I got the good news as it happened Congratulations! I hear no one stepped up to take the stock cooler, stock turbo title. C'mon fellas
  10. 40-60kmh over the speed limit is $350/6pts no questions asked. 60+kmh over and you get a friendly visit from the neighbourhood bacon to personally confirm that you were the nutjob doing those speeds. Even then, its still $350/6pts unless they find grounds for a dangerous driving charge (depending on time/congestion of the road/ number of passengers/ and how long it'd been since the cop last got laid), which is fine + court apperance (minimum 3 months license loss if guilty). Don't ask how I know this BTW, I'm currently trialing a zero tolerance policy regarding speed cameras. That is, I see a camera, I turn around and beat the crap out of it. I'll let you know how it goes
  11. Yeah, 1 cam gear for exhaust. It may be possible to modify the orginal intake gear to make it adjustable but I haven't heard of anyone doing this first hand. I couldn't see install and tuning taking more than an hour on the dyno. Don't quote me on the HP gain. Basically, go in expecting drivability gains (lower spool up time) and be happy for any HP increase. Your milage may vary :-) Not aware of any cons, pro of lightweight gear is less reciprocating mass on the head -> less engery lost in turning cams.
  12. CompSci. Almost free to join the real world. Back on topic, Dec 6th is marked down in my Datebook. I wanna see the assclown go down in flames.
  13. Genuine Nissan oil filter is actually cheaper than the Ryco one. $8 vs $12 around here. Same filter for all RB engines, I believe.
  14. Thats excellent news Adjustable cam gears are a bolt on mod. You'll find maybe 15 - 20 hp from tuning cam timing. Nengun has light weight HKS ones for ~$185 each. RB20 can use 2, one for intake and one for exhaust cams. It'll need tuning on the dyno to setup but the s-afc won't need to be retuned. If you're on a budget, the exhaust adj cam gear alone would provide most of the power increase (probably 3/4 worth). For R33 RB25 ppl, only the exhaust adj cam gear can be installed cause inlet cam gear is integrated with VCT.
  15. *raises hand* Theres enough S13s and R33s at Curtin to start a bloody import car yard.
  16. Thank god he's in NZ. http://www.geocities.com/sky9_r33/Pic.html Some of the car is ok (like thermal wrapped ic piping), but taste is a skill that seems to have eluded this guy.
  17. 25GTT, I was only guessing that it had a RB20DET, mainly because that seems to be the most popular conversion for R30s.
  18. What, that white R30 Skyline wagon with no lsd has a RB26DETT in it? I thought it was a RB20DET. That guy must have some fun in it I thought the motorkhana blew goats. Couldn't have designed a slower course if I tried. Might have been challenging for the competitors but it was insanely boring as a spectator.
  19. God dammit, a picture with me in it. I better go shave before i get mistaken for a muslim extremist Well done on the bikini show shots That your work PSIKO? Boostzor, that git in the front row looks like he's just moments away from jumping on stage and bending BabyBlue over. Who's the boss? TONY DANZA! *smack*
  20. You can't edit an earlier post and pretend to be an original naysayer. Thats just not cricket. So bugger off Nexus_SiX, 2 naysayers, no more... ...maybe myself:Pimp: :Pimp2:
  21. Sounds like you need the kind of space a wagon could provide easily. A wagon like the Stagea Alternatively, evo IV/V/VI's have fold down rears, and I know how much you enjoyed test driving that Tommi Mak... Sorry, don't mean to turn this into "Help R34 pick a new car" thread, but anything to keep you out of a wrx.
  22. Agree with you on that one, rob77. No point trying to pull the wool over insurance companies eyes, it'll only end in tears. Thing is, we're not daft, everything was done by the book and we can see absolutley nothing wrong with showing this video. Like Boostzor said, if the insurance company thought the claim was even a little suspect, it would never of gone through. They knew exactly what he was doing - kerbs don't just come out and slap into you. In fact, if anything negative ever comes from this video, I will personally pay for blowjobs for all naysayers at Langtrees. I only count 2 naysayers, so no one else allowed in on the wager Anyway, lets get back to congratulating Boostzor on his fine efforts
  23. jmp is right, it needs DivX 5.0.2 codec to view. I've edited the main post to show this. To all the naysayers about insurance liability: A police report was made. (Compulsory to claim insurance). Police stopped by the scene for a chat the same night too. Boostzor reported that he lost control and hit a kerb, causing the damage. In real life he really did lose control, hitting a kerb which caused the damaged. Boostzor paided the access, insurance fixed the car and police added their fine and points loss on top. Theres really nothing else to bust him for. Was he speeding? Was he racing? No, he lost control and hit a kerb. I'm happy to let it be a unrestricted download if only to show ppl the dangers of off camber roads
  24. Anyone who can remember back to the Midnight cruise many months ago will want to see this video. Shows the aftermath and the incident itself. Lets try and not make too much fun of Boostzor or Supras in general. I think the price has already been paid http://www.iinet.net.au/~bsisko/crashzor.avi (7.3MB) The video quality change half way through is thanks to the bad quality tape that the footage was copied to. ie Not My Fault Video: DivX 5.0.2 codec Audio: Uncompressed (I know, I know, MP3 next time)
  25. The bikini contest today (Saturday) was cancelled. Bloody poor effort -ve 5 stars from me. In other news, the AudioCom ladies in silver jumpsuits were tasty. Cars? Yeah, there were some there...
