Mate it will be fine and further suspension. It will give you a conviction for suspended so if you get caught again after that your car can be impounded under new HOON laws and very likely to get jail time. Courts are very hard on traffic offenders in my opinion compared to Crime offenders like Burglar's and theives. Good Luck with it.

With 2 conflicting stories and no witnesses to back either up police will not charge either party as they can't prove who was at fault. So waiting for police report won't help your situation. Also insurance companies do their own investigation so police conclusion is irrevant for them. I would say contact solicitor and her insurance company but if she sticks to her story you will be out of pocket for your car.

TBH as petrol prices rise the amount of theft of plates and the petrol drive off's (theft) have also gone through the roof probably 20 fold in last 2 years. I believe Neighbourhood watch had drive to hand out special screws to stop theft of plates.

As the owner the fine will be sent in your name and you will need to fill out the Stat Dec section on the back nominating your friend as the driver and the fine will be re-issued in his name with demerit points and possible suspension. It will have no affect on your records once you nominate him.

SS8 Gohan I posted my thoughts about the whole situation at BBT in the events section. Again I will say what happened will do alot more harm than good. I have personally turned up to various club cruises and could have NOU, fined, EPA almost ever car there but what would that do..It would make these clubs not notify police of cruises and cause the situation to get worse.
-
I think the whole situation has been handled very poorly by Vic Pol. I believe a police presence at such organised events should be to fly the flag in a positive way and only issue fines/NOU/EPA to people being obvious idiots doing Burnouts etc. This will only make things worse with police now appearing to be against organised groups of enthusiasts it will only turn more and more enthusiasts against police and IMO end up bringing out more "hoons" illegal underground drags etc. What else can it do when you try doing the right thing organised safe event with obvious support of Chadstone and car companies and enthusiast groups and it's treated so poorly.

I just got back from Echuca last night and saw Southern 80 for first time was amazed at the performance and sounds of the boats. There isn't a much better sound IMO than a Twin Turbo 350- 540 Chev motors red lining as it flies past you sitting on the bank of the murray. Anyone else been up there before or were you there this year? I have never waterskied or boat fan until now. Will go next year and take heaps of pictures of the boats engines as they were AWESOME they have huge parade in town blocking off main street Saturday Morning where all boats are shown off.

From what I know you sure can record the conversation and don't have to give any warning at all. We are always reminded to watch what we say as it may be recorded. Alot of the TMU record conversations as they are one up sometimes. I think it's good. I will never agree that police should speak down to people and if you record them doing so hopefully they will get a rocket and not continue to do so. Better for me I would much prefer to work with people that are polite. As stated before I've had no complaints and speaking to "Crooks" nicely has avoided many situations that could have become violent etc and instead they calmed down and everything sorted out.
-
No Blitz just a car accident. Not to worry. I think we are on Operation Visibilty, Operation Clinton and operation Trauma at present and none are specific to "Hoon" driving.
-
I personally think it's quite harsh what has happened but also it sounds like there was some time between fine like 12 Hrs or so. If it were on the way home 15 minutes later or so I probably would contest and it might not have been issued(second fine)t but with time to fit plate before driving again I doubt he would have any chance. I agree it's harsh but half a day to fit plate before driving is not unreasonable that would be the courts take on things. I am sure the fine would stand.
-
If you were issued a Penalty notice and NOU the officer's details would be written on both, so I don't see how you don't have his badge and station details. Yes, you can absolutely be issued more than one penalty notice in a day for same offence. I have personally fined somebody for same offence twice in 15 minutes( Unregistered car) continued to drive after being told not to. I personally don't issue too many NOU as I haven't done our special training course so stick to obvious issues like Tyres and broken lights etc. I personally don't get the whole attitude thing as I have had only one complaint in 5 years and probably given out the most fines/EPA/NOU at my station. I think it's a two way street.
-
I'm in agreement with Mav I think things will probably escalate again possibly even further. With only 6 arrests and the courts being so leanient I personally don't see anything stopping further repeats of last Friday. In relation to members Hooning or being associated with hoons with SAU stickers on their car it's not a club issue but don't be surprised if one day one of our convoys to club day get pulled over and everyone's car get's through going over EPA, NOU etc because the club wrongfully gets reputation of hoons.
-
I'll be the first to agree that there should have been a much larger police presence in the first place. I was fully aware of the situation and I don't even work in that area normally. We actually like some others that were there were on a traffic operation in relation to hoon driving in Chadstone area. I never expected it to get that big but I don't think there was any extra staffing added in anticipation. It's similiar to the ongoing situation on Chapel Street Fri/Sat Nights there was a big article in Herald Sun couple of months ago showing how our upstairs Big Bosses don't appear to be backing our front line members by not having more staff on. Our association is constantly pushing for more members but in the end that's up to the Government. It's like most industries but if they can normally get by with Skeleton Crews they will do. It's also majorly hard with alot of the TMU from that region away re the large bush fires so they were unable to run extra TMU to deter this occurrrance. With all that said once this event started as stated earlier we didn't have the resources available to stop it earlier and with Nil injuries to anyone it turned out as well as it could once it got to point.
-
I am sure there will be a much larger police response in anticipation next weekend.
-
James-I wasn't serious as obviously that would never happen. I think your an idiot as it seems your the only one who thought I was being serious. In relation to prevention maybe next time you have a party we will call out the riot police and dog squad just in case you get one or two gate crashers. We will block off your street with TMU and have mounted police out the front as well because I'm sure we can spare the numbers.
-
As stated earlier all avenues were attempted to move on crowd. TMU/General duty and FRU(Riot) police all attacked when entering crowd in smaller numbers. All had to retreat/regroup and make a plan which I say was very successful as stated NO INJURIES to PUBLIC or POLICE I can't imagine a better result other than if it never happened in the beginning.
-
Police arrived early on but it took a long period of time 2HRS plus to get the resouces required to dispurse a crowd of that size safely for both Police and Public. It's an unplanned major incident and there just insn't the staffing levels rostered on for an event like that. Maybe we should get new powers like immediate seizure of all modified cars within 5km of Noble Park McDonalds. I guess that would stop theis re-occuring. What do you think of that idea?
-
Well I was there working and luckily in an unmarked car as all the marked cars were attacked/bombarded. There was nothing further we could do at that time of night we had resources from Frankston to the city there. From our point of view it was a successful operation in the end with NO INJURIES to POLICE or PUBLIC you have seen the footage at how out of control the crowd was. I turned up at almost 2 a.m and faced with about 500 peole in intersection and cars doing burnouts until tyre popped.
-
In response to above. I personally wouldn'e even look for a changed hole etc for intercooler piping. IMO people defecting you on this are specifically gunning for you and the type of car you drive. I may do it if it was a local crook that I knew for example or if the person really jacked me up but in general I wouldn't even look for it.

Yes, I am one who pulls over lots of imports along Princes Hwy. Handed out 3 EPA forms last week on friday. I hate the import drivers that race up and down there on Friday nights giving all of us a bad name. I know that it's not just an import issue but I was surprised at how many skylines were there. As expected and am impressed how no SAU members involved. I am more than fair to the driver's and don't try to impoud cars or make up offences but am disoppointed at the increasing numbers of imports and especially skylines hanging around there. well there's my 2c.

No learners and the fine will be 537 for Unlicensed driving Penalty notice only.( Code2107 RSA 18 am reading the code book) If you have learners and no full licencesed driver in car it's a court appearance most likely less fine but will affect getting licence. Getting penalty notice only should not affect getting licence/permit. .

I wanted GODZ but was told it was offensive and ended up getting GDOGZ and also have FIEND1. -
I personally don't know why they would have taken photo's and can't think of any reason in a random or not so random intercept. There is no new data base or similar that I know of with taking pictures of cars. I only take a picture of a car for evidence reasons damage after accident or similiar. For one it would definitely not be jealousy as at my work we have guys with XR8, FPV, XR6T, Forrester GT and my GTR. Even the most hardened V8 fans at work comment on my car in a positive way. You complain about being a victim for being intercepted frequently imagine how many times you would be checked driving a VL Commodore if you worked in bakery or similiar. Obviously police check imports as many do have illegal modifications and police also check thousands of VL/Laser/TX5 etc that are frequently stolen. If you are such a victim have you been EPA/NOU because I'm sure if I wanted to, I could find reason(s)to put almost everyone's car of road so if you haven't stop complaining. I'll be the first to say and not for the first time that EPA, NOU for minor issues should not be given to people not causing any other offences at time because they are huge punishment and law abiding people should not be hassled for making their cars perform/handle better.
