69 Charges ans still walking free has nothing to do with Vic Pol and everything to do with the useless courts. Unless he ends up killing someone he will probably only get 2 years or less jail for his crime wave. About 2 years ago I caught a guy outside his ex's house with a loaded gun on way to kill her and the kids as he threatened to do and all he got 2 months jail. There was another offender arrested in eastern suburbs yesterday armed with a gun also and threatened taxi driver with it. There has been a dramatic increase in major/serious crimes this year.

I'm pretty sure impound (the actual seizure of the car) has to done within 10 days of offence. The actual court proceeding need to have summons issued within 12 months of the offence date as summary offence.

No good at all. VL/VN always very high on list of stolen cars. It's becoming an increasing trend to torch the cars. Also the other new trend/crime wave in eastern suburbs is people breaking into cars only to let off handbrake and roll them down street to crash into other cars and or fences/houses. That on top of home made bombs and Molotov cocktails being thrown at cars and houses. I guess egg throwing doesn't give them the same excitement anymore.

I personally don't agree with shutting down event like this. If it was out of control fair enough but I have turned up to number of large cruises and dyno nights and much better to try to build a bridge/mutual respect than to get people off side that are trying to do right thing. I have to agree that it's much easier to deal or give hard time to motorist than general crook as we have so many powers. Hoon laws, fines, epa and NOU. Fair chance that if somebody really annoys me when I have pulled them over they WILL get fine(s)/epa/nou and or all of the above. I deal with crook that has bashed someone, fires up at me and tells me to get f**ked. I do hours and hours of paperwork and they get nothing at court BIG WIN for them if you ask me. No wonder serious crime on rise and more and more police happy to give out fines and take out frustrations on motorists.

I'm pretty sure that you get a copy stating what damages were there when the car is impounded to cover you for this exact reason. If you have the damage report and photo's I would contact solicitor and chase matter up. Obviously you should win and get costs too. You probably got the run around because they haven't had this before and nobody knows what to do. I think that the towing yard should be responsible but a solicitor would be best to advise you.

I have to agree with the others who recommended MARK'S cakes. I have had a number of different cakes from there and always perfect. Almost every good cafe gets their cake's from there. My favorite is the Marks cake (mars bar)

You can't park on Nature strip but if you were to park legally on road just down from it blocking the view of the laser/camera I don't see any problem with that. If I was called I would tell the speed operator to move as other person doing nothing wrong. I personally HATE the fact that these fines are issued in Victoria Police name as we have nothing to do with them. They are run/operated by private contractor company.

When I'm on Night shift I set up Road Blocks at a certain place on THU/FRI/SAT Nights for RBT site and EVERY time get a drink driver within the first 5 cars. It's all about when and where you set up. It's also scary that 1 in 5 cars over limit at that location around 4 am

The EPA notice form is so basic for us to fill out. It only asks if the car was "loud" or "smoke" coming from exhaust. There are boxes to tick if car has FMIC, pod filter etc but for noise it only needs us to tick box saying loud.

I don't think it should be a fine but I don't think your insurance should cover you if you have things stolen from your car when it's unlocked. If I take a TFMV report and I believe it was left unlocked I certainly mention it so the insurance company is aware. We had an operation on last year where members and NHW people went around car parks looking into cars to see if NAV Man or valuables in plain site and left note to owner warning them of same. Talk about waste of time. Fortunately I didn't get put on it.

I would generally want to follow car at constant speed for at least 10-15 seconds minimum to get accurate speed. I know that our cars get calibrated regularly, how often I don't know. I know our laser/radar are calibrated each year. I think that the off duty member would be covered to drive at that speed as he was acting course of his duties even though he was off duty. I think that members who go angry are just showing their frustration at being poor in their duties/knowledge. I never see a point in getting angry. I always find a way to punish a person who fires up at me using the law and my knowledge to my advantage.
-
I've heard that we can issue fine for speed for estimation but I would NEVER do it. Without Laser/radar or TUPMED (follow) speed I think that magistrate would throw it out. I would definitely contest it and obviously get solicitor. I bet it wouldn't get past contest mention where prosecutor would advise to drop matter. I think I should study law and become a specialised traffic solicitor. With my knowledge of how we work and learning more laws and precidents I could get awesome results for my clients.

I was at court today for full contest and had to give evidence. The person wanted to challenge a speeding fine from us following him at 97 in 80 Zone. My advice is to get legal representation as this person represented himself and was a debacle. Also not a good defense simply to say I wasn't speeding and didn't do it and that's it. He was then in shock when he lost case and verbalized his disgust to magistrate. Mind you this has dragged out for almost 3 years and been to court on 7 occasions already and he just got the initial fine reinstated.

You will need to sit the manual license test or once you get off your "p" then the auto condition is removed.
-
Offence is fail to display "p" plates when required and is DEFINITELY 3 demerit points doesn't matter whether it's only 1 or both P plates not affixed.
-
Just checked the latest peanlty notice guide book and TSS is exactly right with the fines and no points.

I work in that area and overnight we have only 2 police units covering about 8 suburbs. No wonder things like this happen and offenders don't get apprehended. Few weeks ago it was fire bombs onto freeway and now large rocks. Won't be long until someone is killed by this dangerous stupid behaviour.

It was good to be able to make a brief appearance. Did the they end up winning overall? I would have loved to have seen/heard that Vl that made 800+ hp, but very busy yesterday.

I will be there in the police car unless tied up with other things. Spoke to Rob today about it and he stated the obvious anyone misbehaving on the streets around there should and will be dealt with and I am clearly not going to harass anyone. Hope to see some nice cars put out some good numbers.

I should clarify that I meant the public that I mainly deal with offenders/crooks etc not the general public that assist us as witnesses/victims etc. Yes I was driving by and the drunk deliberately went out of his way to get our attention and then to confront us. Will be charged with assault/resist police but will get absolutely nothing for it. My general area is known for being a pretty good area but of late I will give you insight to what I have personally been to and involved with in last few weeks. This on top of usual, domestics, accidents, shoplifter's etc Murder at Railway station, number of armed robberies with gun, rape, suicides, serious assaults and by far the worst job anyone at my station has or probably will ever go to, a woman slashed the throats and wrists of her 3 young child and then hers in murder suicide attempt. Scene was like horror movie, thankfully all will survive after major surgery. I personally will never be the same. Think what's the worst day of your job and then think about what myself and my colleagues are dealing with at present. All this and then I almost everyday have people give me verbal tirade calling me every name under the sun and I have to cop it on the chin.
-
I would say definitely call the local police and get your boss to do the same. Even put letter in writing to officer in charge at local station. Best let them know what is going on and get that car park etc put onto their tasking sheet to regularly patrol. If they get checked and harassed by the locals then they will find somewhere else to hang out. Hopefully when checked he makes ass out of himself and then makes himself big target to them. Everyone that has become a target for me has ended up remanded, charged number of times and or issued with multiple fines on number of occasions. Eventually they learned their lesson. You can report the assault but for unlawful assault he will get absolutely nothing. It just sums up society now days with the lenient courts and general lack of fear for police. I almost had to punch on with guy yesterday because I gave him parking fine. Went absolutely crazy. Not smart when your a P plater with no P plates, no licence on you and no ID. Ended up turning parking fine into 3 fines and arrest to confirm ID. Then had another drunk deliberately go off at me on Sat night as I was simply driving past and wanted to punch on another mistake. We easily won the fight and locked him for the night. It just sums up the attitude of the public out there. I'll be the first to say it's NOT safe and things won't change until we get more front line police and courts to give out some real punishment.

I've bee tailgated and road raged against whilst in an unmarked police vehicle. Mistake he won't be making again anytime soon. I have had guy road rage my wife with me in car in front of his wife and children another mistake he won't do again in a hurry. It's definitely good having a badge sometimes. I've witnessed just recently a Truck deliberately ramming the car in front of him about 10 times whilst tooting and yelling at him as they were coming into a road block with 20 police standing there to witness it. Another truck and car about to get out and fight as I was next to them in marked vehicle too. It's absolutely insane out there on the roads these days. If something happens like Unco incident of course it should be reported or call 000. Maybe not much can/would be done at time but can do investigation etc maybe vehicles wanted in relation to other similar things if not worse. Most police don't even know what a skyline is let alone treat you worse for driving one.

I'm even glad that I'm not driving my wife's Supra at present or probably would get done too. My say Supra FTW. Here's how we drop the crime rate. We had 1000's of garbage bins getting stolen so instead of reporting them as thefts we were instructed to get people to just fill out stat dec for council to replace. Instantly we had a major drop in reported thefts surprise surprise

I haven't been informed in anyway to target any cars in relation to this and my area has had no involvement with this operation. Must be mainly for Region 1 area (city)Clearly members involved will be under instructions to issue epa/fines etc and not warnings as with all operations it's clearly stats driven and it's success will be determined primarily on numbers of EPA/fines etc and warning will not assist that in anyway. If they are going to hand out 1500+ epa notices etc, then clearly they will determine this a huge success and most likely run more future similar operations.

Alvin: Generally 2 police per car but TMU work one up most of the time. You just generally don't go to jobs that could turn bad. I have gotten in trouble before for going to armed robbery where offender was heavily drug affected male armed with knife. I caught him as he was about to get onto busy tram. I decided that it was imperative to apprehend him before back up could arrive for the safety of the people on the tram and I got into trouble from my boss for it. Not good work. Makes no sense. I have been in pursuit whilst one up which was terminated straight away and apprehended offenders for other things but I go to more jobs than most as my sergeants know me well enough that I will make the right call in the situation for my safety and the public. I think it's becoming more publicized about the lack of punishment at court. Highlighted with things like the convicted rapist that was released within 3 years and then raped and killed his next door neighbors which was front page news a while ago. I believe that there in no insulting/abusive words to police anymore. The courts have decided that people can talk to us however they want and we should cop it on the chin. Yet I'm in a lot of trouble at present for sending a message to a mate after a massive brawl at hotel we attended with a couple of choice words describing the behavior of the patrons. Absolutely you can defend yourself and won't get charged as long as the force is reasonable. You can see while most members would rather pull over a car and fine/epa/nou than deal with this other stuff.
