Obviously IMO this Operation is a waste of time but an operation such as this will get someone high up promoted and it's very easy for them to show how successful it was with issuing huge amounts of EPA notices. Can't fail as nothing can really go wrong with it. If you run operation to say reduce street crime/assaults and a few idiots start fight and stab someone then you operation would be marked as huge failure and that failure held against you. We are finally trying to get more members out and about on front line duties but will probably take another couple of years to do so. Our former chief who has been highlighted in the media lately showing her true leadership abilities and concern for public or lack thereof it's little wonder that things have gone down hill rapidly over last 8 years. I must say I have seen a major increase with the lack of respect towards police especially by teenagers in last 12 months. Also the public becoming much more demanding and lots of complaints. Almost everyone I deal with wants to make complaint. Taking this into account it would be much easier for me to pull over skyline with exhaust and give out EPA notice than grab the youth with knife, smashing bus stop, graffiti etc that will tell me to "Get F''cked, I'm a dog C'nt" over and over again, take lots of paperwork to deal with and will then get nothing at court and then make complaint about me. I have seen lots and lots of what I would call really good members lose interest over this in last couple of years.

The last time I remember the court costs were about $58 which in my opinion is a joke. Sorry to say but if I got a fine for up to $500-600 and it only costs me $58 to make police put full brief together, statements etc get brief checked/authorized, issue and serve summons to arrange court date. Then have matter adjourned to further court date, go to contest mention and then have 3rd court date for full contest and then plead guilty make all that work for police/court/prosecutor and only $58 is added to initial fine I think it's a real bargain.

I get the "no speak english, me student, warning, I'm sorry" response everyday and they just repeat those few words. I would say that 90% of my intercepts are these students so I'm quite used to it.

I think that ACA highlighted a big issue only few days ago with overseas people driving here whilst on visa's who have no idea about how to drive on our roads and how to abide by our road rules. As i was going to serve summons on one overseas guest this week for drink driving (0.357) highest reading I have seen. We pulled up his neighbour driving along with 3 Y.O not wearing seat belt and driving on Learner's only without qualified driver and has failed our test 3 times then pulled out his punjab licence and tried to use that.

There was no speeding involved they were driving between 55-75 in heavy rain all over road. Almost hitting barrier and then back into middle lane. Would have caused major accident if we didn't follow them. Could have charged them with manner dangerous but what's the point when they are flying out of Australia in the next few days. He even wanted to make complaint about me for taking his keys off him. Told me I was the devil.

I have tried to post the link below to the story but one of the strangest moments I have had in the job. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/lifestyle/the-...6-1225853988314

Every fatal i have been too I can say Speed WAS a major contributing fact to outcome. High percentage driver's also XPCA or drug affected. You hit tree at 20km/h you walk away, you hit at 120 I'm notifying your next of kin simple as that!

Reading the article I can't see this new squad having anything to do with cars getting intercepted or anything like that. They will just oversee the investigations of collisions and encourage/direct further investigations into same. It's just the government and force putting together yet another squad just to show they are doing something.

Well Easter has NOT quietened down things in my area, my night was filled with an armed robbery, $80,000 burglary, 2 drink driver's and 300 Sudanese going off at party. Not fun driving down street to be surrounded by angry mob throwing bottles at us in the police van. It's lovely the way society is going.........................down the toilet

I'm surprised about them taking photographs of engine bays unless it's for evidence of offence which EPA is not. I just worked traffic car shift tonight and very surprised at how well everyone was behaving. Only gave out 10 fines with the worst offender an unlicensed driver doing 40+km/h over speed limit but she was running late to her shift at the Brothel.

My wife loves his music and most songs of his songs pretty good but to pay $50 to go and only play 3 songs isn't good enough. It seemed more about him getting laid than anything else. said his name a bit, gave out some roses to the ladies and made it clear he was single looking for good time. I feel like asking for me money back!
-
I went to see Jason Derulo at Eve bar and what a disappointment. Can't call it a show or concert when it's ONLY 3 songs.
-
I have today off and going to see concert soon but have to work next 11 days straight. Then 6 days off up in Echuca so there is some bad and good.

Don't have to drive anyone home. If they have been good to deal with and it's fairly local I will drive them home. I will always let them call friend to collect them or taxi for them. If they have been pain in the ass and heavily intoxicated I have then locked them up for drunk after dealing with the driving matters. The city on weekends fri/sat night and public holidays have 50-100 extra members working safe streets (overtime shift) Double time to do pretty much stuff all. It's all stats driven the more arrests, fines, nou, epa etc means you will get more shifts in there earning big money. There is NO warnings for that reason as a warning isn't going to help you get another shift in there earning big money walking around the city.

Clearly he has been used as a high profile celebrity to show our laws in practice and and to show that vic pol treats everyone the same. If he was let off I'm sure it would be all over the media about police letting off high profile person due to the fact he is a celebrity.

I have turned up to numerous event/cruises that have gone through or met up my area and along with the TMU didn't issue any NOU, EPA, fines. IMO if we attack car enthusiasts doing the right thing as part of a club then it will only turn enthusiasts against us and increase street "hooning" not good for anyone. There are more than enough idiots on the road doing stupid things to give hard time to if you ask me.

I drove through there about 10.30 and knew this was going to happen as it felt similar to the atmosphere at the noble park riots. I know that there were fights, arrests, people OC sprayed, cars impounded and drink driver's all in the surrounding area after this all in all a terrible day for car enthusiasts.

No I don't know pettett. I am getting sick of the amount of Drink Driver's out there and most are not a little bit over but smashed. I don't understand with all the media coverage and immediate loss of license why people still do it. (more than ever IMO) I am also frustrated that about 90% of them I have dealt with in last 12-18 months are international students and don't give a toss. I have seen some in at our station after fatal collisions where they have killed friends/family and others and weren't even the slightest bit upset by their actions. I do feel good when I catch someone like that because there is a good chance that I may have stopped them killing someone else or even themselves. I never take things personally and never will, the day I can't control my emotions I shouldn't be wearing the uniform.

Plate recognition is the computer software and camera that automatically checks every registration that passes and then runs checks on the owner. So it shows up all unregistered, unlicensed, suspended/disqualified, warrants and whereabouts. I have heard that sometimes having 10 members just to hand out fines and deal with other things that arise isn't enough. In relation to having more members in city fri/sat nights we still run safe streets which adds 50-100 extra police in city and we have started new area ORU that will have a couple of hundred members tasked for these high crime area's. Then again that's not extra members in force, its stations losing members to go there.
-
We have more staff on as holidays over so we are running traffic cars most days. I would say that most stations in same position so more out and about. We are running plate recognition days in next few weeks also which will be interesting. I am almost becoming a professional drink driver processer as almost eveyone I pull over lately is pissed. Have had 4 repeat offenders all more than 3 times limit in last month. One also disqualified and driving unregistered car and almost ran us off road 3 times in police car. In his mind he did nothing wrong and told me off as I verbalised my disgust for him in no uncertain terms.

I've gone threw this before and made insurance claim which was declined due to error in building/maintenance and was told to chase up threw builder. I would firstly claim threw your insurance and see what they have to say. If it's building/maintenence fault they won't cover it and then chase up your builder to fix. hope that helps

It's fair enough to make comments like above but paperwork side of things is out of control now days and is making members not want to do the job properly. I work hard and do things properly and all that means is me now having tp do around 6-8 hours a week in unpaid overtime doing paperwork and going into work on my hoildays and days off to spend few hours catching up/keeping up to date on paperwork. I don't think that is right and I could easily make my life easier by pissing off work and letting people go with warnings etc.

Matter has been reprted to police and under investigation. I have given informant details to Sue for her to contact. They have offending vehicle details so offender will be chased up and charged with number of offences. I hope this puts everyone's mind at ease.
-
Sue, PM me the details of both cars and I will look into whether the collision has been reported or not tonight at work.

I impounded a Lamborghini murcielago on Christmas eve so he ended up losing it for 6 days. Was his dad's car too. Shouldn't drive at 150++ in 80 Zone
