Mate ive seen the light! VLs are good! (because of the RB30, and sick SHDUDUDU sounds) it stops there! they still look like mud.

I pulled a 14.01 and this pulled a 4min, 33sec pass.

The bad point: the car its in is a holden... The same Brilliant engineering thats in the RB motors also went into our cars, not a cut shut lebbed up holden

buy a white one. If its sprayed properly, (pulling glass & rubbers out etc) its gona cost you around 5- 7 K..... Not to mention if you want the engine bay done.....

Well the tensioner on my stock motor is original (RB25DET), and its making no noise. (1994, R33) Its coming up to the 10 year mark!. Hmmmm, not too sure. I would say that its one of those items that once its worn, piff it and graba new one. You more than likely can repack it with grease, but its a fair job to get it off and not somthing i could be botherd doing more than once. Cheers, Trev

Very possible, you could probly run a slightly larger pully and goto 10 or 12 PSI. (Considering the turbo RB25 runs a 9:1, why couldnt you run the same boost as the turbos?) just a thought, Trev

even take your old RB25 cam tensioner there, and compare the two.

Goto holden spare parts. Ask for a VL, RB30 cam tensioner. I payed about $90 each brand new! I would eat my shoes if they werent the same. Cheers, Trev

The way i see it, if your going to spend that much on rods, spend the extra 800 and get the carillos.. Rods are going to be more expensive than the pistons.....

Hey i just rang rocket industries......Eaglerods dont make a set of rods for RB25/26 or 30s. the only people that do (according to "Scott" in sales) is Argo. They make a "I" beam rod for $2200 (Retail) for all RB motors. Does anyone know if scott is talking shit?, and there are some other aftermarket manufactures of RB conrods? Cheers, Trev

Not saying that dude, from the information provided i was assuming it was a 8K TOTAL project... in witch case alloy/forged rods would be cheap insurance!

Sure jorden, I guess what i am saying is that with a 8K limit, i would be better distributing my funds. not spending 1200 on the rods. You have to be realistic with yourself on what type of power you will be getting from 8K (its alot of money, dont get me wrong). But with that type of dollar range alloy/forged rods are not really needed and would usally be considered overkill for a project of that size. Cheers, trev

500-600HP is fine for standard rods.. (shotpeened & polished) why bother? unless of corse its for track/drag use... If its a street driven car you will be lucky to be using a quarter of that power during normal driving conditions. There are better things you can spend that 1200 on.
