ive never span any shims on a neo.. but have seen some that have, probably due to aftermarket cams that wernt 100% true. i never ran the neo on my rb30
some more pics. Front legs done, body tied in to chassis at front, rear stays and diagonals does. getting there! next will be the nascar style intrusion bars
you can get plug and play link g4 ecus to suit 33 and 34 loom. so really use whatever loom you have available.. using a 33 loom on a neo engine will require some change of plugs tho
yeah it was going to sit around for months. pity ev never got to do anything with it haha. soon as i get back it will be full steam ahead with it. just gotta decide on colour to paint it
i agree with kitto. Keep it stock and simple. the OEM rb20 gear is more then good enough to support large boost and power. just make sure you solve the leake issue first. spend the money and get the head pressure tested and hardness/crack tested. if its all good then refit and away you go
is it the r32 version of the rb25de? IF so why do people still bother with these things??
just put the neo head on the 30 bottom end.. that way its going to suit your loom and ecu, plus everything else will bolt up
AM Engineering has started on my cage.. which is a mean feat considering today's his birthday and his missus is expected to give birth any minuite now haha
yeah its a DET head, DE is different.
as for what happened.. im pretty sure the broken cas bracket and subsequent dodgy repairs lead to valves being bent and snapping the valve guides. not sure how it only bent intake valves on one cyln tho
Pulling this neo motor apart for someone atm and its got bent valves on cyln 3, the valve guides have snapped and ones missing all together, I have a feeling it broke up and went through the valve and into the chamber because theres damage on the head and piston. see pics.. is it fixable? also for lolz.. see the dodgy repair somone has done to the CAS bracket... wtf https://www.dropbox.com/s/xvb0mno7h9c3qsp/20130530_072620.jpg

i run a NPC single 10" carbotic in a 400 rwkw rb26/30 powered drift car.. it loves it. Clutch has been going for near 3 years now, took it out not long ago and it had only worn 5% of the material off... so well and truly still serviceable!
bit of an update.. its been a while. Decided to build a new shell up, then the old shell with cage/tube front will be up for sale as i wont need it any more. New shell is getting an FD/Cams spec cage, tube front and rear, and radiator in the boot,
