Hey guys.. been reading this thread with interest and i have picked up a few things. However i too am about to respray my car and would like some general tips and advice. Ive done a few cars before and have a bit of my own equipment. However ive only done acrylic paints. This time around i want to do a proper two pack job in my shed. I don't have the luxury or the money to hire/get a booth and ive always done home jobs. Plus i live out in the middle of the country so the EPA isn't a worry for me Now i went and bought some Dupont base coat, which doesnt need harder, but its an enamel based paint. Also got some Dupont 2K clear and hardener. all up i have 4L of colour and 4L of clear. What i would like to know.. is when im ready to spray once the car is primed and rubbed back and then wiped down. Is there anything else i should know about before commencing spraying? Also with the Dupont base coat, the clear and hardener are the activator for the base, so they need to be applied pretty soon after. So does this mean i put the clear on pretty much straight away, even if the base is still a bit wet? Ive never painted 2K paints before so i really have no idea. Can someone recommend some breathing gear, what works and what not to get and where to get them from. What can i do to minimize airborne contaminants? cheers Simon

ahh cam gears.. thats why tis what i need to do with mine.. how much did you retard/advance each gear?

ditch the nexans.. they are horrible tyres! try 7.5 degrees castor, 1.75 degrees camber and 1mm total toe out for the front and 1mm camber and 1mm total toe in for the rear. you'll find the car will be so much better then

car looks hot man but in just about every pic its understeering

haha yeah my car is in the panel "shop" started sanding it back today.. paintful job. Also having real drama's with the rego and compliance process that seems to be dragging on for months. Seems that Trans SA say that the car was illegally complied and therefor no rego is allowable until i get issues fixed and full roadworthy done.. months of f**king around and still no rego

nice, who did the remap? i have the same prob with the 32 now.. cant seem to tune any more midrange in

for a 25 in a r32 nothing needs to be done, no brake upgrades or anything. its a legal and easy swap i'd say the ceffy would be much the same

nah. the Diff between a AE92 and 93 is trim spec mainly. theres the base model, carby with drum rears, then mid spec, which is 4afe efi with drum rears, and then ae92 seca which is 4age and 4 wheel disk

Question About A Small Accident And Rights....
Simon-S14 replied to Simon-S14's topic in General Automotive Discussion
thats just the thing.. its over quoted because the bar does not need repainting, the black paint off the bumper has just transferred onto the car, no actual damage to the base coat of the 4wd had occured.. so all it needs is a good cut and polish + buffing. -
this was before my bonnet got majorly dented... lol but you get the idea.. also has near 400,000 kms on the clock

haha no i didnt mean it as a bad thing... well.. i dunno i bought my AE92 off a female owner who had it involved in several minor crashes.. she had owned it for 5 years and NEVER serviced it... I paid $300 for it with rego, and i changed the oil.. which was like sludge, changed the plugs and various other things. Ive owned it for over a year now and its never let me down apart from a front brake line splitting and causing me to hit a tree and unable to stop. all in all ive spent 200 on it. and it is THE most reliable car. its got fantastic air con, heating, power steer, and its efi. however it looks like the biggest heap of shit on the fact of earth

im sorry but my AE92 takes the cake

Question About A Small Accident And Rights....

No it wasnt... and it will be very soon but that doesnt help this case. Damage in my opinion wouldnt exceed 100 max.. and thats buffing and touching up the existing paint. -
My gf had a small scrape with another car while turning into a shopping centre carpark, The other car was a 4wd and there wasn't much room for a R31 to park i have to say. The owner of the car was loading her car up when it happened. My gf and the owner exchanged details.. then i rocked up to the scene, damage was no more then paint transfer from my gf's black bumper to the plastic rear bumper of the silver 4wd (forget what make) anyway the owner of the car has already gotr a quote to fix it.. from a crash repairer in the adelaide hills.. Quote was $300 and they reckon there is suspension damage also. Now i am a mechanic and LPG fitter and this is clear as day solid bullshit. What i want to know is what are my gf's rights in this case? Cheers Simon

I have an aftermarket no name seat for sale, comes with adjustable rails and everything for an R32. Its in average condition and would suit a retrim for sure.. Otherwise its a pretty comfty seat. Only asking $100 for it.. or Swap with a pair of Stock R32/33 seats. Pic Pair of 17X8 ROH Drift R''s in an Awesome offset (+15 i think) They really fill out the stock guards on an R32 thats for sure! Awesome condition and no scratches or dents/rash on them. Pic $350 pair. Neg In Adelaide, prefer to sell in SA only. Pm me or email on [email protected]

4AG and 4 AGE are the same thing.. and no they dont use them they use 4AGZE pistons which are factory ceramic pistons. Works well but theres a lot of mods needed to make them fit.

Proper epoxy glue would do the job i would think. or Loctite 406 instant glue.. i sware by that shit
-
well thanks for that useful post. Speedo plastic bit failed.. again.. super glue just cant handle it. Nissan Genuine parts dont list the part on their computers. I would have to buy the whole speedo cable. @ $110 little annoying... as the cable in mine is fine.. i just need the plastic drive and NO one has them

i managed to fix speedo and the indicators.. Fixed the plastic bit using supa glue.. but it must not be dead straight as the needle flickers a shitload now... oh well.
