  1. as for the wing.. yeah i got over it. the grip isnt really needed for drifting in fact its more of a backwards step then anything. my car has a lot of mechanical grip as it is. With the wing on and doing 160 into the first corner to enter theres a lot of grip in the rear and it makes it hard to break away.. but once sideways you lose the aero and suddenly you have less grip. makes it feel a tad unpredictable.
  2. yeah the general consensus is that i won the first battle and it should never have been rerun...everyone has the same opinion, even tom said i won it haha.. except the judges. when i asked them why they reran it they said that i won my lead lap however on the chase lap they scored it 7-3 in toms favor because i sacrificed angle to maintain proximity... i mean really?! its stuff like this that makes me wonder why i bother competing
  3. I'm pretty certain that many motors that have died as a result of cracked gears and limiter action were either a) non standard gears b) non standard pumps or c) combo of both and to much clearance. Stock motors are fine. I've never once cracked an oil pump as a result of limiter in 10 years of drifting. All my motors see plenty of limiter action. As for tuning it to taper off up top I would never do it. Most engines fall over and start losing power as they near limit anyway so no need to adjust that. If your motor is making peak power right near limit and still climbing then maybe adjust the cam gears a but to bring it back towards the midrange a bit
  4. thanks dude... been doing it for long enough now haha
  5. Heres my lead lap with tom... first battle chase lap, first battle
  6. heres some clips from Day 1's prac sessions
  7. well its an inverted flare fitting.. theres a flare inside the turbo in which the fitting seals on. the threaded section doesnt go all the way in. So if you have done it up tight and it still leaks then the flare must be damaged or cracked. have a close look at it the flare is the seal, not the thread
  8. Every set up is different.. I did some data logging with valve set in different positions before I found the best one that worked for me. Ill get some pics up soon of it.. Enclosure is nothing fancy lol just a rolled sheet of alloy
  9. Cheers dude! accusump is as easy as possible.. no elec solenoid,. the sump is sitting behind the drivers seat and handle is accessable from the seat, i have it covered as per cams regs. Braided line goes down the transtunnel and hooks up to a T piece on the oil relocator kit in between the block and the oil filter when motor is off the valve is off so it has a storage of oil for when i start it next time, when i start it i open the valve all the way, start it, let it warm up and bleed any air out then close the valve to half and thats where it stays for operation. the reason behind the half valve position is because we found that it was discharging too quickly fully open and then taking too long to fill up.
  10. none of my cameras captured that run sadly... someone filmed from the crowd tho.. can be found on my page if you have a look. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=109807555839205

  15. have read on many 4wd forums of people doing CAT filter upgrades, Cat make a twin filter kit that can be adapted to most diesels easily enough, im looking at doing it to mine cause its cheap, easier to replace them then OEM filters and if cat is to be believed provides far superior filtering
  16. servicing really is the key for the newer high pressure common rail stuff. clean oil and clean fuel keeps them alive
