Haven't even tried GPS yet, but will be using either iGuidence4, or MapMonkey. MapMonkey is apperently easier to integrate with RoadRunner, the frontend that i'm using. Up-to date Australian maps will be the largest hurdle im expecting. As for LCD's, I highly recommend Vastute.com or Mobile Computing Solutions. Both usually have sales on eBay, which is where i got my Lilliput through Vastute for $269 delivered. I have been in contact with MCS, they are an international company, BUT, they have got a sales person in Australia, so you can email them and ask for his details, which in turn, im sure you could get it cheaper without paying some of postage costs from the USA.

And don't forget IMO the best CarPC resource, www.mp3car.com

Rainbow are a German made brand, Click here to find out about what you think is a 'cheap' brand. I would definitely rate Rainbow and Digital Designs better then Pioneer and Earthquake. Now, to the original poster, any reason why you want a system full of the same brand?

yea agreed, there are so many options. i was thikning about flush mounting my screen like parish, but thought if/when i sell my car, i want to take the computer with me, so im going to have a motorised in dash.

just on ebay looking at harddrive now, wats the difference between the IDE, SATA, and SCSI? edit: dw have figured it out, defines internal, external etc etc? wat one would i need?

k well just had a quick look on eyo. and found this one http://www.eyo.com.au/prod_B-EPIA-SP13000_...a_Nehemiah.html would this be good? then have 40, maybe 60gb and 1gb ram. also, the main thing that is bugging me atm, is the power supply. i tried to find the 12v dc-dc on ebay, but to no luck.

wats to big? if your saying that the desktop is to big, i woudlnt use the case that is it in now, i would use perspex.

while there is so many people in here, i will ask if this set up should work properly. at the moment, my school is selling off their old computers, because they just updated them. now for $200, i can get one its a p3, 800mhz, 256MB Rom, and 40Gb hd, cd drive to. also everything else that comes with a desktop. do you think that it is a good buy? and then upgrade the parts a bit? my carputer would mainly be used for music, videos, and maybe gps. i would then make it wireless, so than it is easier to transfer files. this would also make me use the internet.

the program is called nLite, link - http://www.nliteos.com/index.html recently i have been reading through mp3cars.com also, and have found alot of stuff, but not links to the actual programs. if you want a run through of how to use nLite just ask, i got a link for one
