Troy, definately go with either a tape based or solid state memory unit, the DVD units such with any vibration. I have a Panasonic NV65 tape camera, that I hook a bullet camera and external mic sourced from Jaycar to, using its AV in port. This lets me run the camera itself in a secure location close to the floor, and then place the bullet cam in a variety of spots.

Having watched those angles again, I think the following; Turn 1, LH fault, went in way to hard and late, and his actions caused the contact between KR and HK. It wasn't the same as a normal turn one, much to banzai and risky, as evidenced by how far he went off track. (he might have even been done for a dangerous re entry on to the track, as you can see that RK had to take avoiding action) Turn 11, I reckon that FM was put off by JT going into the corner, and was aiming to pass JT, when LH went down the inside of him. It also looks like LH tried to tighten the line on exit in an attempt to close the door on FM. Turn 1, Racing incident, I can understand how both driver could think that they where in the right on it, but I would like to have seen the on board from SB's car. MW Vs. FM I think that MW has tried to defend, as is allowed, moved across to block an inside run, he's then lost sight of FM in the mirrors and has moved over to the right a bit further (assuming that FM has gone down the LHS of him) to try and find him in the mirrors and not realised that FM was on the inside of him.

Seb B. has been penalised for the contact with Massa, demoting him 25 seconds and out of the points, so Massa now has 2 points and is 5 behind Homo, and Mark gets a point for 8th.

I'm watching it as well, streaming it on the laptop whilst I have Bathurst on the TV. Massa deserved that penalty because he had all 4 wheels over the white line, if he had kept 2 wheels inside the whiteline, I don't think that he would have gotten the penalty. I haven't seen a replay of the turn 1 incident, so I can't comment yet on that decision.

The reason why a night race works at Singapore, and would not work in Melbourne is there locations. In Singapore, there is already a street lighting infrastructure in place, so any of the street leading to and from the track are well lit, without having to add any extra's other than for the track itself, where as Albert park has no real lighting infrastructure in place, and would need to have the whole of the park zone (including the whole of the lake) and the roads leading to the park lit to allow for an adequate amount of safety for the public how are attending the event. Also, the Melbourne GP has never made a loss, it's just the funny accounting process that the state Government uses, whereby the Government gets the revenues directly from the event, and then pays the AGPC out of general revenue to run the event. The revenues raised from ticket sales, and other indirect revenue more than covers the cost of the event each year.

I would be willing to say that what most likely happened with the conversatons between RD and CW where that RD got on the email and asked about redressing, CW (or his 2ic) replied saying that if a proper attempt was made, then it would be OK. As LH was then able to be right on the tail of KR up to La Source and then passed him into the corner (as well as "propping" on the apex, going by the engine note to try and stop KR from diving under him) then CW decided that not enough effort was made in the redress (the driver doing the redress must not make any gain, and should really be in a worse position regarding the other car than before the cause of the redress situation) and because of this, the referral to the stewards was made. FWIW, my credentials for talking about this are as follows. CAMS B2 (Steward) CAMS C2 (Event command) - Mainly Clerk OF Course / Race director role CAMS F2 (Flag Marshal) The level 2 (now replaced with Silver as a license grade) means that I can act as a senior official at national event, or as a 2ic at international events. I also had a National circuit license.

I think that McLarens asking of Charlie Whiting (not the right person anyway, he doesn't have the authority to make that judgement) if they had to redress the situation was what got them bought before the stewards, if LH had just done so without any questions being raised, then there may not have been a report made by CW regarding the incident.

Oh Ok, I heard that it was the other Lotus in the field that had dropped the oil, and the Ferrari and Lotus that went off where following the first one.

A car before had dumped oil on the track, and the Lotus and Ferrari where the first ones on the scene of the accident, before the flaggies had a chance to get the oil flag out.
