  1. No wonder I didn't know who it was, I can't stand that "game"
  2. Who?
  3. Unfortunately the costs of running the events has been going up lately, mostly with track hire and permit fees, but even little things like the cost of radios all adds up.
  4. That's like calling a V8 Supercar a production car Roy, those things should never have been allowed to compete, as they didn't comply to the regulations that existed for the class (until the regs where rewritten to suit of course) The cars that they competed against should have been able to wipe the floor with them, until they where either ballasted or restricted out of competitiveness.
  5. I have no mo now, after a little accident with the oxy today.
  6. First thing you need to do is make sure that you have your head on straight, and realise that the racetrack can be dangerous if you do not know what you are doing. I would do a performance driver training course before you go on track, and learn how the car feels, reacts and recovers from getting out of shape, then when you do your first event, go to Winton as it is the most friendly, wall wise, track in Victoria. Enter as a trainee, and ask for someone to sit in the car during the sessions to help make sure that you are not over driving or doing any thing silly. (You also will not be timed as a trainee, so there is no pressure to go faster than anyone else) If you are only doing club level sprints, you need a CAMS L2S license, you can download the forms from the CAMS website at www.cams.com.au To get on track you need an extinguisher, Helmet, clothing that is fire resistent (ie jeans, cotton shirts) and covers from neck to wrists and ankles, a secondary bonnet restraint. Preping the car I would give it a full service with new, high quality fluids, put the best brake fluid that you can afford in the car, as well as good brake pads. A roll cage can be a good suggestion, but be aware that they can cause (along with bonnet pins) issues with road legalities. I wouldn't bother with R-spec tyres or major suspension changes at first, I would go out, learn the car on the stock suspension (as long as it isn't worn out) and good road tyres, and then go and speak to a suspension expert to get the most out of the car.
  7. Steve Newing at Speed technology in Mitcham is a Nissan fan, and he does injector cleaning/testing, give them a call on Wednesday on 9873 5400
  8. Gee, that garage looks familiar...
  9. So was that you or Jameszilla at Sandown Roy?
  10. I'd better get it running and tuned then...
  11. So who's in the stocks?
  12. No one is that talented roy...
  13. I'll see if I can get an electronic copy of the MSDS for the fuels, as they have the breakdowns of what compounds are used in them.
  14. I've had the DL1 for a few years now, and I think that it was very much worth the expenditure. I'm in the process of installing the dash at the moment, and will have it running at DECA so I'll know more about it then, but so far it looks good.
  15. Well done and good work, now the hard part starts though.
  16. The dash cost me $1600, and I think that the loggers are around the same amount. (I got mine through other sources a couple of years ago) The DL1 logger that I have has 7 analogue inputs (4 0-5v, 3 0-12v), 4 Frequency inputs, choice of either coil or ECU based RPM inputs, lat/long G forces, GPS track mapping, sector/lap times, GPS speed. There is also a DL2 data logger available that has a higher resolution GPS sensor (5 Hz vs. 20 Hz) twice the number of inputs and a few other features. The dash unit will display any inputs being logged by the DL1 unit, as well as having it's own 4 0 -15v Analogue inputs, rpm/speed inputs, odo/trip meter plus inputs for indicators, lights and other warning lights.
  17. Optimax and V-Max are different blends, with Shell now having removed the toluene that was used as an octane booster in Optimax. Both the V-Max fuels are blended to European emissions standards as well.
  18. I nearly did, but then I found out that Meridian Motorsport had gotten a shipment of these little beauties in, so I bought one instead. I already have the DL1 data logger so it works out well.
  19. A friend of mine used to do the tan in around 13 minutes, but he competed at the national level in cross country event (until he suffered muscular meltdown one year running in 40+ degree heat) Another guy that I went to school with was quicker than that, but he represented Australia at two Olympic games in the DECAthalon.
  20. SAU Vic runs with the WRX Club for the MS championship, they run at Winton, Sandown Calder and Philip Island, as well as occasionally an event at the Morwell hill climb. The entry cost is usually around $140.
  21. I'm in. I only shave once a week anyhow, so it won't be that different.
  22. If you look at the latest Auto Action (Oct 25-31) on page 24, the one and only Joel is in action, photographed photographing Chris Aktinson.
  23. Yeh, I kind of quickly glanced over your reply, and didn't fully take it in. I couldn't be bothered to change it afterwards though.
  24. Roy, when did the BBQ happen (looks like Winton) My daily driver. Can be a bit slow at times (better for my license though ) but people don't tend to mess with it, it tows the STi easily and it does wicked drifts on wet roads.
  25. I might be able to provide a location for a limited number of people to attend a day like this, sometime in February next year.
