children aren't allowed in my 33

I totally get it, you get what you pay for. Right now I'm saving up do tweak my wifes MINI without her knowledge, so looking for an interim satisfactory sound, for the long drive down to Shepparton. My system is 10 years old, amp even older(Sony 504X), and the Fusions are entry level but accurate none the less. Head unit also has a faulty trigger, had to bypass and just loop acc wire. One day I'll start over. Focal looks like great place to start. Cheers

thanks, for the offer man. I've just sold my subs so would have to buy a new driver anyway. I'll give the Boss a go, just need a few subtle lows. I stuffed insulation behind my 6x9's, sounds cleaners that's for sure, but still f^%$ all bass. cheers

Can't fit a bazooka. And they seem old in design now, but I believe you they probably sound better than the slim enclosures. What are BOSS Audio like, they appear very low in cost. I'm aware you get what you pay for, but it's not always the case. I have Fusion splits in the doors and 6 x 9's under rear windows, which is a bad location. I'm gonna try stuffing poly bat insulation in the void to contain the bass and clean it up, but still need those lower hertz. So still looking at a slim enclosure. cheers

So far the most impressive I can find is a Soundstream unit. Good price in the States but freight is a bummer. This will be going close behind the back seat. I'm assuming facing it forward into the seat will be the first test, then I'll spin it at 90 degrees and play with the phase control. Looking at spending around $250 all up.

Sony XPlod 10 inch subs with hard grilles. Custom made sealed enclosures. Made to fit to R33 boot perfectly. Has a matching finished centre board for spacing and amp mounting. These just sit in your boot and are wedged in, no need to fix down. Never shift around. Great sound. Selling due to needing boot space. No amps. Pick up in Sydney. Also on Ebay. See pics there. cheers for that, The new technology I've been told about is new to me, but it may be 30 years old. It's a new internal lining which somehow changes the characteristics of the enclosure to make it sound like it has more volume than it actually has. Sorry, I've forgotten the name of it. Know it ?

Just pulled out by twin 10 inch enclosures, wanting to get access to my spare and a usable boot space. Looking at these new active sealed units 8 and 10 inch, high power, new reflex technology. Anyone heard these?

yeah I'm thinking of moving my 6x9's out from under the rear side windows into the parcel shelf with spacers. But my shelf is just a crappy piece of masonite covered in fabric, which just sits loose. It's wedged between the glass and the rear seat, and doesn't have a good seal around it. Is this the factory shelf ? Anyone made a new one and managed to get a good seal? cheers

Thinking Of Selling My R33 For A Mini
conan7772 replied to conan7772's topic in General Automotive Discussion
damn right mate, I'd rather cut off my right arm than sell my GTS-T I mentioned tweaking the MINI before but she is strongly against it, she loves it just the way it is. So I have to do it behind her back. HAHAAAA I'm gonna order the 15% reduced pulley for the Supercharger, do a high flow intake and have it remapped on a dyno. Will be interesting to see if she notices. Don't worry, if she hits me, I'll hit her back. -
Thinking Of Selling My R33 For A Mini

HaHa, Love your comment, Thanks man, I get it. Well, I've really nothing left to flame, it's all done. Suspension, engine, brakes, rims and tyres. So do I start again with another project and burn another $50K or go for a GT4088 twin scroll + NOS on the 3.0. Hey if my wife gets a wiff of any of this I'm FUBAR. -
We just bought an R53 MINI Cooper S for my wife and it is awesome to drive. 180 odd bhp, sports suspension and 1100 kg. I had a blurr to sell my 540 bhp R33 GTS-T and get another Cooper S and tweak the bejesus out of it. Maybe I'm drinking too much cheap wine. Any help, much appreciated. cheers

Yeah mate compromise is a bitch. I've taken out my capacitor, subs and amps from the boot as I'm sick of the extra weight and not having access to my spare. All I have is 5" splits up front and 6x9's rear under the windows.(Fusions) Good value for money, nice accurate robust speakers. However, without the subs, the rears sound out of phase. Too much reflex lost within the rear quarters or it's not sealed very well. Need to fill the void with unsulation. I remember years ago my brother had 6 x 9s alone in the rear parcel shelf of an old Ford Fairlane, and it sounded truly awesome. Again, depends on the seal.

My R33 leaked on the left side from the top, inside the gutter the boot closes over. It soaked one of my amps hence I could determine the position of the leak. It appeared to come through the bolt which fastens the hinge for the boot. The bolts just go through the base of the gutter with no rubber washers or sealant. My car was in a prang years ago, maybe the panel beater missed it. Lucky for me my car is black, so I used black Sikaflex and just neatly smeared over the hinge mounts and bolt heads. Also when this leak happened, my car was facing down hill, which makes the gutter fill up. So far so good.

So Anyway I Hit A Deer, What Did You Do This Wknd?
conan7772 replied to hamiltonau's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I wonder how a carbon bonnet would look in comparison to yours after the same impact. I've been considering one for a while now but don't like to raw look of them on a black car. And most I've seen painted black have ripples in them from the sun. $500 for that one is awesome, and would look hot painted silver too. Check your premium won't go up if you decide to go through insurance. Even though it was a deer and not your fault insurance companies may assume you were speeding. You know how they choose to analyse to their advantage. $800 excess isn't worth it anyway for just a bonnet and radiator. And if you change insurance companies within the next 3 years you'll have to declare the claim. Furthermore if you have a non ADR bonnet and have another accident, they may decline the claim based on road worthiness. -

Non ADR aprroved bonnet means it doesn't have any steel framework within it. There are some approved ones on the market, but I think cops might still defect it, even if it's engineered. -
where's the water go exactly, curious

Any spots left or opened up from cancellations ? cheers

10 Inch Subs Wall Mounted Under Rear Side Windows
conan7772 posted a topic in Car Audio & Electrical
I'm sick of my heavy sub boxes in the boot along with the ply base for mounting the amp. Can't access spare plus too much weight. I have Fusion splits on the front doors, and 6 x 9's in the back. I'm thinking of relocating the 6 x 9's and mounting the subs there, under the windows. Maybe then put the 6 x 9s on the parcel shelf. If my subs are off, the 6 x 9's sound out of phase and put out bugger all base. No sound proofing done right now, but I'll probably fill the cavity with polyester roof insulation Any thoughts ? cheers -

Hey, Looking at getting one of these seats for my R33. Any thoughts... cheers

Hi, On the hunt for a light fibreglass shell upholstered racing seat. Something like the Velo Milano. Not going for harness. Mounting rails would be handy. R33 GTS-T cheers

Don't forget if you paint your rims with normal 2 pac or enamel, they'll still chip quite easily from stones. Go silver or alloy colour so the chips won't stand out. Powdercoat is the go, but the spokes will have to come off.

I went 9.5 +30 all round. Had to nick a bit out of the upper control arms at the front and roll guards. +25 clears but you'll still need guard rolling and flaring.
