I had the same problem with my Stern rims. I used normal paint stripper - 3 coats then rubbed it off with steel wool. Took me days and I still couldn't get right in to the corners. Then I polished them to almost mirror with Autosol metal polish. However, every time they got wet, they had spots/ corrosion again on the bare alloy. To get them back to a fully restored condition means pulling the rims off the spokes, send them off for machining and recoating, then put them back together, fit tyres and balance. I had this option priced for mine and it was over $1200 for all four which included respray of spokes too. My advise : Sell them If you're still lookin at affordable rims : go some full coloured Rotas.

The Legend That Is The Mazda 787B
conan7772 replied to 31GUN's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
One cool customer too. Check out his face on the straight when he's going around 300, he's looking at the gauges & around the cabin. Probably checking which radio station he's listening to. -
Why bother with a roll cage at all ? If you roll this baby, do you really want to live afterwards? I wouldn't. Very much looking forward to the completion and seeing it in action. This car will be one of a kind...

What Car To Buy For Wife, Any Advise Appreciated
conan7772 replied to Adriano's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I'd go Audi or BMW, if that's your short list, but only is she deserves it. Audi have really come a long way with technology, performance and reliability. They're such a large company now, brilliant cars. I'm looking at Alfa Romeos for my wife. Alfas have also improved a lot, however their electronic transmission hasn't. The 159 wagon looks good. Always had a small spot in my heart for Alfa, after having a Sprint and GTV. Always nice to drive. -

Check this filthy beast out. Simple, beautiful and mean as f#@%. How's the saw tooth rotors and the sunken wheels. Would love to hear it start up. Bet it humps like a 16 yr old boy on his first root.

yeah really nice.. Where did ya get the clear rear indicators ?

I had a problem with passengers in the front seat, pressing their feet into the ecu loom, cutting the power supply to it. Took me a while to work it out, problem only occurred with a passenger. You may have loose connection.

The NSW RTA vehicle standards has a clause on additional brakes lights. Every car can have one additional from the tail lights. So if its red, it is legal. But the night rider gig may raise a question. NSW anyway, soon to be national standards.

oh forgot one, wheel track.

Terry I think you should represent SAU and set down an exemption category with specifics to the NTC. They are asking for public input. Don't forget to have window tinting increased to 30 % instead of 75 %, change the induction mods permitted, permit FMIC to all cars and maybe push your luck and increase the Db exhaust levels. Thanks.

From time to time I go through the NSW vehicle standards to check up on revisions. Currently the National Transport Commission is reviewing vehicle standards and plans to have them in place eventually Australia-wide. Could be a good thing for VIC residents ! The NTC is also asking for interested parties to have input. Anyway, there is no information available online right now for the guidelines and limitations for modifications under the Model Laws and Policy Library. Only the original model from 1999. I guess they are finally compiling a concise review. http://www.ntc.gov.au/viewpage.aspx?documentid=2030

you're gonna be up for an engine rebuild ... Tammy, with this stuff you can't guess. Just between you and me, don't listen to your bf as gospel. He may have experience with GTRS, but it's your car. The GTS-T deserves the same respect as any GTR believe me. Tune it to the ragged edge and you will find it better than sex. Regards..

Not really, the video has poor sound and could mean anything. You have to have your head under the bonnet to hear it properly. My advice is, take it to a tuner now, have a major service and tune. Go to EAS , Racepace or someone. Expect $1000 +, it's all part of owning a performance machine. I bet all your fuel maps are wrong , timing and more. You'll need a full dyno tune. The GTS-T is a great car for the money, hence many owners choose to tune it themselves and f%*# it up. Once it's tuned properly, it'll go like hell. Get it done once and right. When I bought my car, it dynoed 177 fwkw, less than stock, and it had hi-flow turbo, fuel pump and a Haltech E6K. My first mechanic managed to get a little more out of it but tuned it too rich. In the meantime, I was f$%#^%% my pistons. Then I approached Tweakit in Sydney, they told me the bad news, said my fuel maps were all wrong etc. Had to start from scratch, new base map and tune it from the ground. He tuned it to 247 fwkw. Imagine the difference. It broke traction in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. Anyway the damage was done from before and I cracked a piston crown in the middle of the night. Options then are a used motor for $2500 plus install or go all out for a forged 3 litre bottom end. If your engine is healthy like you say, look after it now and it will reward you. Don't let yourself get into a position you can't afford to remedy.

S A U N S W - Wakefield Trackday Number 2 For 2011
conan7772 replied to N1GTR's topic in Events Archive
Hi, Will my car get knocked back for no bonnet clips ? Regs say 2 means of securing. Don't really want to fit them.. cheers -
Yeah the lighting looks fake. The white on the car is too even for a night shot. No way the image is computer gen from scratch. Look at the road surface closely , bird shit , and you can even see dirt caught in the cracks. Bloody good job though.
-
Gee that's cheap. Was that online ?, what's the web address ? I usually go through Value Green Slips.
-
I reckon this is the by far the best looking R35 I've seen. Black and white 2 tone just looks mean as. Love the visible induction too, nice touch given the original very 'complete'appearance. Don't know if I like the reversed badge, not exactly an ambulance is it.
-
I haven't been to Wakefield yet. Keen as. Week days are cheaper and I'm assuming less cars too ? Do I need AASA club licence ? Also what the skids? No pan there.. Same, If I'm not working, I'm there. Cheers

Get the insurance details off the driver at fault. Keep up communications with the insurance company in writing. Type them all properly and give the insurance company all your details concisely, including the car. Model, series , and mods etc. Make sure you are contactable all the time. If the cops haven't provided one, draw an accident report of what happened showing streets and where the cars were and hit. Forward a copy of the police report. Keep ringing and sending follow up letters to insurance until they respond. You should get the assessors phone number. Be friendly to him and point out any mods or anything else you're concerned about. Offer to help source parts if needed. Heaps of panel beaters won't touch imports because of parts availability. Insurance companies are naturally elusive when it comes to claims. Don't give up. You should be right.
