Getting A New Skyline - Need Advice
conan7772 replied to Baruna's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Look in Uniquecarsales.com.au and refine the search Heaps of skylines under $20,000 Nice yellow auto there for 9950, still would go manual though. Also check UAS - Unique Auto Sports website for cars. You'll pay a bit more but it will be in good condition. Also make sure it's registered and doesn't have any defects standing. Good luck mate. -
Getting A New Skyline - Need Advice

I agree with auto being a mistake. You'll probably want to sell it within 6 months and get a manual. These cars are a drivers car in terms of feel and performance. Everyone whose driven my GTS-T immediately is blown away by how tight it is and how much you can feel the car. With a little suspension work, it's amazing how much control you have. Choices of Skylines GTS-T and GTT are single turbo or N/A rear wheel drive. GT-R are twin turbo and 4 wheel drive and double the insurances premiums too. Good idea is to get quotes for various models online- no obligations Once you get a taste you'll want to start to modify. Remember the GT-R is far more desirable and hence the parts are marginally dearer too. "GT-R factor'' Other differences between the GTS/GTT and the GT-R include: GT-R has traction control, mechanical diff, better breathing head with solid lifters, bigger brakes, wider wheel track, wider body guards and a few more things I've forgotten. I'd look at getting a heavily modifed R33 GTS-T. Still quite cheap and beautiful to drive. UAS sell some nice examples occasionally. -
Put a crook lock across your pedals. Surprise motherf$#%$# ! The only way to get it off is to cut it or mangle the pedals. To cut it you'll have to be on your knees outside the car which is obvious you're stealing it, not to mention the pedals will move around while pressure is applied slowing cutting. Plus the brake lights will be flickering attracting attention.

This was a long time ago, I was desperate for a ski. Got the idea from a mate who had a Pantera and did the same thing. Certainly turned a few heads on the way down. Using magnetic ski racks now.

It's probably gonna cost me more than that. My ignition module is mounted over the fuel rail for starters and I think the plenum is in the way too. Then there's the dyno. Probably $1500 all up. If I can get close to 390 rwkw with E85 I'll be happy. Hoping for around 350+ on pump fuel. I'm sure the 870's will supply more than enough for the 3076 can handle.

Cool, My tuner is Justin down at Tweakit. He used to work for Haltech and knows them like the back of his hand. When I first bought my car, it had en E6K in it with all the fuel maps mucked up. It was around 190 fwkw, after he tuned it, it was 247. Tuning shouldn't be an issue, especially with the S2000. Cheers

In brief: car R33 GTS-T RB25/30 - GT3076R 0.82 rear low mount on stock manifold at 20psi Plazmaman plenum + 72mm TB 256 Poncams Haltech S2000 Single 044 with Surge tank 570cc Siemens injectors at 92 % to achieve 337rwkw. I can't say how much I love the way it drives. Smooth linear acceleration until around 4200 rpm then it really comes on. For a street car, I'd have to say it's perfect. However for the very occasional track day I'm considering an E85 tune. If I upgrade to 870cc injectors, what differences would I expect on the street ? Will I lose that perfect smooth idle, low down cruising economy, linear power cheers
-
Yes, and stock manifold. Also put the large can actuator on it. Holds 20psi flat line easy. My mech says theres still more in it, maybe another 4 or so. cheers.
-
Bang on mate. My 570cc Siemens are maxing at 337 rwkw in the RB25/30 + GT3076R 20psi - single 044 Right now, I'm in no rush to fill up Ethanol but I'm keen to get the car ready on the next service. Should I go 750cc or 870cc ? Same price too. Would you expect with the 870's I might get rough idle/ bad economy. What about driveability on a daily basis... The car right now is very smooth and linear. Putting aside E85, would you expect the 3076 hasn't got much left and the 750's may be more suitable ? Tuning is no issue with the Haltech S2000. Sorry to drop so much at once. Cheers.

Best Looking Wheels On An R33 Gtst
conan7772 replied to Nick033's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
yeah made it up after being booked by the cops for having my plate on a slant. Went to court and got off because it actually complied. Needs to be within 45 degrees on the vertical and horizontal which it was. Anyway, decided to do the right thing, used rigid brackets behind- bent them to suit the angle then fixed the plate to them. Had some left over stainless sheet from a range hood, bent it and trimmed it with rubber channel, screwed it over to cover the brackets. -

Rota P45-R in bronze 18 9.5 +30 all round. Love em.. Can't upload pics -
Mechanical devices such as club locks do add precious time for a theft. Even a cheap one is worth it along with one or two alarms. I'm sure it's been suggested before, but what about fabricating a basic lock that holds the pedals together. Or something that locks the steering boss. Being out of sight would be another surprise. If you have to park in the city regularly, pull a fuse or two out as well. Fuel pump and ECU. Put blown ones back in. There's only a window of time for these C&^%$ to work. I'm surprised there's hardly anything innovative available given how much of a problem car theft is.

+1 Still having the same issue. Even down scaled the images to 200KB. No luck. -
even with a little rain, my rear blinkers get wet inside, what's the best way to fix it? cheers

trouble with the salt lakes it the 70km of shitty dirt road you have to cross. Here's an idea... Get a couple of mates who wanna do it too. Find a nice quiet 3km straight stretch of road in the country with no houses around and good phone coverage. Go out with 3 cars and phones. Scope the straight then put a car 2-3 km's past the start and finish. Wait for the all clear... Go for it.

what about 570 cc 14mm injectors on RB 25/30 with single 044 too small ? not looking for massive numbers, maybe another 20- 30 kw or so
-
are we talking piston damage/ detonation ? or will it just run like a pig

I really do like the sound of this. And I'm currently looking into options to maybe do this with my Haltech PS2000, if it can support it. I don't really want a laptop sitting in my car the whole time. A smaller console, like an Ipad or something would be awesome. Anyway, maybe this'll take another 10 years.

How critical are the percentages anyway ? I mean the Ethanol content will vary from the original tune from time to time. What are the dangers?

If I ever caught anyone in the act trying mine, I'd gladly do 3 months for grievous bodily harm. Sorry to hear about your loss man. Let's hope for a miracle and see if any Police work actually happens. But I think you've got a better chance winning Powerball on a Saturday night.

I was very happy with Adrian Moore Suspension in Gladesville. They fitted my SK group buy sports kit for under $450 That included new springs, shocks, all neoprene bushes, pineapples , front and rear Whiteline swaybars, and a full computer alignment. I have R33.

Yeah would love to hear the screamers in action. Post up some audio if you can.
