  1. im guessing you're lucky and dont have to remove the rear seats, seat belts and parcel shelf to get to the strut bolts!
  2. i have the rb30et box. can i do the same things with the spedo drive?
  3. I thought as much, its more illegal to have an odo that is not working. I think we should have regular inspections. Get all the shit heaps off the road. Maybe not every year but every three or five years. You see cars driving around with smashed lights, rust everywhere, some real junk boxes.
  4. if its cheaper to change the dash then to repair one im not going to be repairing it.
  5. there are many illegal things that we do. boosting your car is illegal. you are not going to jail for it.
  6. only shit thing is it clocks up klms quicker on the odo but who cares. just buy another dash.
  7. my speedo is stuffed with the vl gearbox. the speedo drive is for 3.45 gears and i have 3.9. i just work out how fast i am going from the RPM's. 100kmh is 2500rpm in 5th and every 500rpm is 20kmh. speedos are always wrong from factory.
  8. They are way bigger then an r180. You will need the r200 shafts and moustache bar. Then depends on the flange for the tailshaft too. If you shop around you may find a bargain. I got one for $290. With the bigger crown wheel bolts too.
  9. What rack and pinion did you use for the r30?
  10. cool, sounds like a nice easy upgrade for a bit of rigidity.
  11. did you have to use the r31 brackets or just change the bushes and keep the r30 brackets?
  12. sounds like i had to do everything the hard way.. What crossmember would be ideal for an RB then? l20 fj20?
  13. i modified engine mounts and made a gbox x member so everything clears to pass engineers. engine will fit with standard r31 mounts but has no clearance with the l24 engine x member. If you want to do it just to thrash around its easy, if you want to do it properly you need to make mounts.
  14. I think thats right, my manual r30 starter looks exactly the same as an auto rb30 one. i know that the turbo rb30 one is different, only because it has a bigger flywheel. A standard manual or auto will have the same starter.
  15. nice job. its a new car now!
  16. go get a loan and buy the lancer. the dr sounds nice. i wouldnt sell it. its a lot easier to buy a lancer then it is to buy a clean dr30. You may come to a time where you want to buy another dr30 and you wont be able to afford it. My mate had a mint 2door LJ torana 6 years ago. The dick head sold it for 6k and now wanted another one to do up and paid 6k for a rust bucket!
  17. go get a loan and buy the lancer. the dr sounds nice. i wouldnt sell it. its a lot easier to buy a lancer then it is to buy a clean dr30.
  18. datspares in clayton and centre rd wreckers are the two i always go to. If they dont have it then no one else local has it. Thats what i have found anyways. But my R30 is an 84 model. A bit younger then the older datsuns..
  19. Should put one of them motors in a skyline!
  20. I thought i read somewhere that it was 65L, but only ever filling never more than 50 i was beginning to wonder. Ill let the next tank run a bit dryer and see if i can get the fuel light to come on. That also means im getting good mileage, around 13l/100 city driving. Pretty bloody good!
  21. Hi Just wanting to know how many litres my tank holds. Everytime i fill up it takes no more then 46L but i know it has to be more then this. My guage probably reads near empty too early as it probably doesnt work as well as it used to out of the show room. My fuel light doesnt work either, or does it? Maybe im not letting it go dry enough? Any help Cheers
  22. its the last three numbers in the model/part number for that pump. if its not the last three its the first three but im pretty sure its the last three numbers. has nothing to do with rate of flow.
  23. If my memory serves me correctly the vl turbo pump is an 070. Will do the job for an rb20. I just went the 044 so know im not gonna be running short of fuel.
  24. They sure do fit! They are pretty much identical. I have even fitted a bosch 044 in the factory position!
  25. victoria is such a massive place Im not well taught on victorian, australian geography..lol
