Wrecking 1996 Series 2 R33 Gts-T (S.a)
doommachine replied to shy_s6's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
If you change your mind on selling just the calipers let me know man, it's for a cressida conversion and obviously I don't need the rotors... plus the rears are too much of a PITA to fit -
Wrecking 1996 Series 2 R33 Gts-T (S.a)

Your inbox is full... but I require the front calipers. Price/location thanks -
Edit: Just did a search, the unmetered air thing is just if you don't plug the plumb-back hole up (obvious). Also, the other problem is stalling due to weak springs in the BOV allowing it to open when it's not meant to. This thing is practically new, and the spring is adjustable, so if you have a stalling issue, just tighten the spring. Hope this helps

I'm selling it as it is unfortunately incompatible with my piping kit. Basically, it hits my shifter cable. It is not plumb-back. A plumb back BOV is one that vents back into the intake system. This particular blow off valve vents air direct to atmosphere, and makes a quite loud "psssh" noise. Great for scaring small dogs. Anyway, as far as I'm aware, it will bolt straight on to a skyline, you guys basically have the same flange and even the same BOV as evos/VR4's. Someone will no doubt correct me if I am wrong. Just unbolt the stocky, put some sealant on the gasket, bolt it on. Connect vacuum hose. Additionally, you would have to block off the part where your stock BOV reconnects to your intake (not hard, just find a rubber bung or something like that, hose clamp it on nice and tight). And finally.. and someone will probably have to talk you through this.. I think using an atmo BOV such as this one creates problems with skylines, as there are issues with unmetered air. I am in SA, I have no problems posting it though. Will probably cost 15 bucks or so (it's sort of heavy).

Eh, I was going to keep it, but I would never install it.. so, someone else may as well scare small children! As the subject states, for sale is a Turbosmart Vee-port blow off valve. Looks pretty. Look, picture! Comes with an adapter to fit onto VR4/evo pipework.. so, it should fit GTST pipes no worries. They're 300 bucks new.. I'd be happy with 100 bucks. Or, if anyone plays guitar, I will trade for a decent quality volume pedal (Morley, Ernie Ball etc).

Yeah... if they did you for "modified engine management system", the whole thing will have to come out.. you have some sort of aftermarket fuel controller? They could just mean the boost controller, but I think the regency guys are really really cluey when it comes to skylines, as they have probably seen just about every single one in adelaide. I agree, it is harassment, but on the other hand, the modifications are technically illegal. The cops just know it's easy money. Pull over any R33, you will find at LEAST a boost controller.. thats 170 bucks right there. I think, unfortunately for you, the only way you will get it through is to make it completely stock. Luckily, theres so many modded skylines, getting the stock parts shouldn't be too hard I hope your engine management is a power FC or something, so it just unplugs..

Ah.. if you have an aftermarket.. locking it in the glovebox won't really help, next time I go to regency I have to have my ECU visible. So, I have to have my glovebox hanging open so they can see it.. basically if they want to see something, if you can't show them, they will defect you. Probably also slap an emissions test on you too, make sure when your car starts there is NO fuel smell and NO black smoke... lol.. damn mitsubishi making my life hard... Thanks for the tip about the wiring loom 4 door, I didn't even consider that, but I will re-wrap it. Also.. what's with them not being able to add more stuff? They wrote on my defect notice "May require more repairs".

Need A Stock R32 Turbo, Exhaust And Steering Wheel
doommachine replied to Gunmetal grey R32's topic in South Australia
+ 1 If you can afford to pay a business to take it through, do it, save money in the long run. -
Damn, that is awful.. now they're defecting people just for owning a skyline??
-
Cant buy another one, it's under finance (d'oh). Anyway, I should be ok. Can't let the man get you down. The guy said it doesn't matter who I go to so long as they have an exhaust sniffer. So autopro or wherever. I'm not paying more than 40 bucks to have someone point a piece of equipment at my car for 25 seconds. Unless, of course, I pass first time regardless, in which case I will probably pay 100 (joke)

OK, back from regency.. joy, now I have TWO defect stickers. The old defect is clear and yet they didnt remove the sticker.. hooray. Anyway, firstly, the front window tint has to come off. I didn't even know the windows were tinted, they are like 2 percent darker than the windscreen. Secondly, the drivers seatbelt needs to be replaced. Which is annoying because every car more than ten years old has screwed seatbelts. Next, the car is too low. This is particularly frustrating as I called them and asked the lowest eyebrow height in advance, and my car JUST scrapes in, like exactly legal, but the inspector told me that on my car, 370 is the height. Bummed out. Make up your minds. He "suspects" the car leaks oil. I did a service recently and since I drained the oil out, there is oil on the sump pan. Have to get the car checked out etc. I suppose that's reasonable, but again, plenty of cars leak oil.. realllllly annoying that everyone in a crapped out XD falcon gets to drive around and leak oil everywhere. Ah, the knock sensor. The inspector asked me about it and I said, it connects to a microphone, and if the engine knocks, the light lights up to tell me I am about to destroy the engine. Obviously a safety feature, right? On hot days I wont be swerving all over the road, spewing oil everywhere and crashing into cars because the ENGINE HAS DESTROYED ITSELF!! Right?? But, according to another inspector, it adds fuel to the engine. How it does this is a mystery to me, but it is apparently a defect. I'm thinking of getting the user manual and showing them that it doesn't add fuel, but I really don't want to inflame any more defects on my next defect, especially at 110 bucks per trip (inspection + permit to drive). That's about it, but the car apparently blows a little black smoke on startup, which "might" indicate that the car has a modified fuel system. Now, I'll admit that it did, but now it doesn't. Not a chipped ecu, just a freaking haltech interceptor, which I have removed. Not that I would tell them that of course EVERY example of my car blows black smoke on startup.. a guy I know has a white one, his bumper is black. It is stock. But, now I need an emissions test (greaaaaaat more money) plus, when I go back, they want to see my ECU. Which is jammed in next to the air condtioner behind the glove box. I don't know what they expect to see it do, as it's just a box with wires coming out of it.. but... yeah. It's not like there's flashy lights or anything. Even if it is modified, the ecus in my car are modified internally, so they won't be able to tell if it is. Overall I am a little disappointed, as most people say it is obviously their job to ensure I don't get to drive my car. It is upsetting that there is plenty of cars which would not even close to pass regency, rusty exhausts, punched out cats, cut springs, windows so tinted theyre like sunglasses, MASSIVE rims, not to mention just plain old rustbuckets, with ruined seat belts, interiors, bald tyres, screwed suspension, and yet.. they're allowed to drive around. Yet, as a car enthusiast, I ensure my car is in good working order, that the brakes work, that the suspension is correctly set up, that it is safe for myself and other road users.. and I'm not allowed to drive it. I mean if your car starts bellowing black smoke from the exhaust pipe, do you A)keep driving to work in it every day or B) freak out and immediately try to work out the problem. Us car guys always go B!! But normal IDIOTS are on A, and they're allowed to drive. It annoys me. Just because I can afford (well! not really!) to get my car past regency, why should they make me. Sorry to rant all over your forums.. but.. dammit, it's not fair that there are two sets of rules...

Haha.. can I join the group buy too, even though I don't have a skyline? I like them!
-
FBI I shall call then.. failing that I dunno what I'll do.. anyone with an r32 GTS? lol.. I think they'll fit...
-
Hey, I've heard (dont know how true it is) that four brother imports offer a service where they fit your 'line with stock parts for regency.. I need a set of stock/more normal looking rims for my car, as I'm worried that the ones on mine will appear too "hoonish". Basically it has the same stud pattern as a silvia/180sx. Anyone know of a place that would loan me a set of rims with legal tyres? Does FBI just look after skylines? Cheers

Bad luck mate! I bet if you had a freaking BMW with a loud exhaust.. it would have been, ho ho ho chaps. son of rajab, I am irritated with regency. It's also total BS that because you have a skyline they "make" you go for a VIS. A workmate of mine's boyfriend just got his statesman defected for being too low. He rang the cop shop and said, pedders told me it was legal, the cop rang pedders, pedders acted like jerks and so the cop said, alright mate. The cop gave him a letter to give to regency, and when he goes in to regency they ONLY check his ride height. NO VIS. When he called regency about it they were pissed off as, and basically told him to piss off, but he talked to the manager there and the guy put the letter on the guys file. Maybe talk to your local constabulary and say, the traffic cop totally farked me, and now I have to drive 4 hours to regency, he practically had his microphone in my exhaust pipe, so on, and if you indicate that you are in fact not a silly 16 year old with a hyundai excel + 4" exhaust tip, you may get similar treatment. Or perhaps an officer in your town can check it. Your car is less modified and in more roadworthy condition than how many other cars, and yet it "needs to be ensured that it's roadworthy?". Nah, fight that mate.
-
Hey guys, I'd ask on my "own" forums, but most of them are in NSW/VIC.. and don't have to take their cars through bloody regency. I was talking to a mate that had a 300zx a while ago, and when he had to go through regency they tested his exhaust gas emissions. I thought that they didn't do that here in SA? Does anyone know the limits? And if so, does anyone know of a place that could test my emissions prior to me going to regency, preferably who wont charge me 100 bucks for the privelege? Cheers

Haha.. I live on the same STREET as the prospect exchange

Saw a white R34 yesterday.. quiet as anything, big muffler... looked pretty sweet (as one would expect from an r34 ) Also, this lady at my work who has been lusting after r33's for a while said she saw miss 33's car. She went on about it for ages... hahah..
-
I'm with EFtel. Crap service, for example, when we connected there was some stuffup with my friend getting charged twice, and it took three different people to rectify it, but other than that.. good. The best part - 512/128 ADSL, NO limit, NO shaping. 70 bucks a month If you're a big downloader, they're one of the few companies that don't shape the bandwidth.

Good Power With Low Boost & Standard Inject&fmic
doommachine replied to fsmout's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Good point about the exhaust, I "modded" my exhaust, by basically sticking something in it filled with steel wool, until I can afford decent mufflers, and my 50 trim won't even spool. Well it does, 3 psi at 4000rpm, and not much more than that. Does the car feel a bit like it's holding back? Try a run through straight pipes and see how you go... -
I have a spare VR4 one you can borrow (AFAIK it's the same as the GTR - anyone know any different?). If someone can confirm it will fit, PM me and I will organise getting it to you somehow. EDIT: If you need two, you can borrow the one off my car too, but you'll have to wait until mine goes through regency, unless your regency date is before mine.
