Just Jap Warehouse Robbery - Sydney 20/7/2008
Merli replied to Just Jap Racing's topic in New South Wales
Jesus... Nick just gave me a call and gave me the heads up. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help out! Cheers, Andrew. -
I really have no idea how you can say this. "dressed up 3 series" implies that you think that most of the changes are cosmetic, and constitute body panel changes to make it look "dressed up". All of your wanker banker friends (bankers don't drive E36s ) should have educated you better. I can't remember the exact number, but I believe out of the hundreds of thousands of parts on an E46 M3, it shares something in the vicinity of ~150 common parts with the E46 3-Series. Most of the common parts being benign dash fascia plastics, air-conditioning system components, doors, boot-lid and windows... The rest of the hundreds of thousands of parts have been subjected to mechanical upgrades and design changes for the better. Nearly EVERY SINGLE component inside the engine is different, not to mention clutch(es), gearbox, LSD diff, suspension upgrades and geometry changes, etc etc. Of course it is still based on the 3-Series platform, as is pretty much every other "sports division" non-exotic car. But to say it is a "dressed up 3-Series" makes my mind boggle And I didn't say that other cars (your examples of E63 AMG and RS4) wouldn't be more comfortable. Of course they would. I was addressing your quote of: WRONG. Yes you CAN put your kids and ski gear in an M3 with absolutely no problems and take long comfortable drives in it as well

Mate, I love you and all..... but if you think an M3 is a "dressed up 3 series", you have no f**king clue about BMWs The number of common parts between the cars could be counted on one hand (exaggeration, but you get the idea) And I have taken many long road trips (Sydney -> Byron and back (10 hours each way), multiple drives to Thredbo/Perisher (6 hours each way)) in my 330Ci and M3, with the skis in the car (or on top in a thule) and people in the rear. Additionally, I know that you've NEVER been in the back of an 3-series/M3, because if you had, you'd know just how comfortable the rear seats in a 3-series/M3 were

[group Buy] Acpt Carbon Fibre Tailshafts Any Model! $1400us
Merli replied to Angus Smart's topic in Group Buys
Full payment up front. Don't make life hard on yourself. Just make sure that you don't pay the full invoice until you take delivery! I've had suppliers flake out and take AAAAAAGES to deliver the goods if they get paid in full up front On that note, what *IS* the expected delivery lead time? -

The Official Holden Press Release: Holden Fans Get 60th Anniversary Present GM Holden today marked the diamond anniversary of its first all Australian car by unveiling a stunning two-door performance thoroughbred called Coupe 60. Coupe 60 celebrates the six decades since GM Holden built the 48-215 at its Fishermans Bend plant in Port Melbourne, Victoria, and provides a glimpse of Holden's future directions in design, engineering and emerging engine technologies. Exemplifying sports luxury, Coupe 60 is a pillarless concept car that explores the limits of Holden's current rear-wheel drive capabilities, combining racing looks and technology into a road going sportscar experience. Its sophisticated appearance is delivered through simple and powerful design, highlighted by the pillarless construction and V8 supercar inspired cockpit layout and side-exiting chambered exhaust system with billet alloy tips. Almost 60mm shorter than the VE sedan, and sitting on 21-inch centre-lock alloy wheels with unique design Kumho high performance semi-slick tyres, Coupe 60 captures all that's exciting about the Holden DNA. Other racing-derived enhancements include full flat under body, rear underbody air diffuser and functional rear deck-lid spoiler with unique designed LED tail lamps. The interior also has several unique features. They include one piece carbon fiber bucket seats (featuring leather and suede pad design) and a sports-inspired flat bottomed steering wheel with integrated shift light display and LCD sports instrument cluster. The high gloss carbon fiber carries through to doors and rear trim providing a contrast to the leather trimmed instrument panel and black suede trimmed pillars, headliners and parcel shelf. Details and accents are picked out with a distinctive red high shine leather on the seats and dark gunmetal finish and satin chrome on the consoles and doors. Front seats are adjustable fore and aft to allow easy access to the rear, with four-point race harness restraints for all seating positions. Under the bonnet is just as forward looking, with a 6.0 litre V8 engine incorporating the latest technologies such as active fuel management and calibrated for E85 ethanol fuel. Even the paint is a one-off. Called 'Diamond Silver' by Holden designers, it gives a liquid aluminium finish that almost slides off the bodywork. GM Holden Chairman and Managing Director Mark Reuss said, "Coupe 60 is Holden's 60th anniversary gift to its fans worldwide. "It highlights Holden's heritage of rear wheel drive performance whilst looking ahead to the potential offered by new technologies and materials. "This is a vehicle I know our designers would dearly love to see go into production, but for the moment it has to remain a concept only," he said. Project Designer Manager, Peter Hughes, said, "We were looking to mark the diamond anniversary with a car that captured the Holden DNA and took the current VE range to an exciting next step. "Even in the early stages of VE development, we knew there was a sensational coupe waiting to get out and the 60 th anniversary has given us the chance to explore that. "With Coupe 60 we think we have designed a car that has the potential to write another chapter in the book of Holden icons." Coupe 60 – Specifications and Features (Coupe 60 overlaid on VE Sedan) Main Features: Pillarless coupe body; Derived from flexible GRWD platform; VE sedan wheelbase. Powertrain: 6.0L V8 with Active Fuel Management, calibrated for E85 Ethanol fuel; 6-speed manual transmission (SS specification); Engine oil cooler. Exterior: Unique "Diamond Silver" paint colour; Electrically dropping front & rear side windows; Racing-derived aerodynamic down-force enhancements: Rear under-body air diffuser; Full flat under body; Functional rear deck-lid spoiler; 21-inch centre-lock alloy wheels; Unique design Kumho high-performance semi-slick tyres; High-performance Brembo brake hardware with ducted air cooling for front callipers; Side-exiting chambered exhaust system with billet alloy tips; Unique design LED tail lamps; Exterior mirrors with integral LED side markers. Interior: V8-Supercar inspired cockpit layout for enhanced driver visibility and spaciousness; LCD sports instrument cluster located in a unique column-mounted binnacle; One-piece carbon fiber bucket seats, featuring unique suede-pad design and distinctive red high shine leather accents; Front seats are adjustable fore-aft and allow easy access to rear; Four-point race harness restraints for all seating positions; Unique sports-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel with integrated shift light display and suede grips; Unique interior details including air vents, column switches, gear shift knob and pedals. Perforated leather trimmed instrument panel; Black suede trimmed pillars, headliner and parcel shelf; High gloss carbon fiber used as a structural material for seats, doors and rear trim provides contrast to leather and suede trim; Details and accents are picked out with red high shine leather, a dark gunmetal finish and satin chrome. 2008 is a diamond year for GM Holden which will be recognising a number of key anniversaries. These include: the 60 th anniversary of Australia's Own Car – the 48-215; the 50th anniversary of the founding of Holden Vehicle Operations at Elizabeth; 40 years since the introduction of Monaro; 30 years of the Commodore nameplate; and the General Motors centennial.

Disgusting front end. Bring out that "Holden Coupe 60" that was in the Motor Magazine with the R35 GTR review. I read every word of that article and relieved myself multiple times over those pictures before even trying to find the R35 GTR article I would seriously consider buying that Holden Coupe 60 if it looks like that prototype model

Now I'm certain that Beer Biatch can use his gaijin charms to get better pricing than these, but I have also been looking at Lexan windows, so I thought I'd share my research Greenline has TWO sets advertised: Manufacturer: Stout Product: Acrylic Windows Part No.: (GL)OTWNSTOR3201 Price: ¥166,898 (~AUD$1700 plus shipping) Notes: Comes as a set. Doors, quarters and rear windows. All are 3mm thick. Manufacturer: CUSCO Product Acrylic Windows Part No.: 231 ACRYL A Price: ¥138,600 (~AUD$1400 plus shipping) Notes: Door (5mm), rear quarter (4mm) and rear (4mm) windows. Next up, the guys on GTROC have been tossing this around for aaaaaages. They were chatting about different materials - Normal Lexan or Super Strong "3M Margard Lexan... both thermoformed acrylics, and possible manufacturers. They finally hooked up with a company called "Plastics 4 Performance" who made up a template for the R32 GTR (along with other models) and although it took a while, a few guys have their product now, installed and comments posted in the thread. I still fail to understand what the GTROC'ers mean by the difference between window "sliders" and "winders", so if you can figure it out, let me know Manufacturer: Plastics 4 Performance Product: Lexan Windows Price: Approx £600 (~AUD$1300 plus shipping) Notes: Different thicknesses of lexan or margard available. All replacement parts available. Detailed pricing in the thread on page 3 of the thread. http://www.gtr.co.uk/forum/upload/36188-r3...ex-windows.html

Just in case you DO go for the backyard special, I've heard that perspex is NOT a good material to use, as it scratches very easily and "clouds up" (turns opaque). Lexan on the other hand is much more durable

Are you guys going to remove the underbody tar? I assume you're not going to acid dip the shell, since the roll cage is already in...

Question In Regards To Door Trims
Merli replied to phunky_monkey's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
hehehe.. Where do we stop? Probably when our wallets are empty That said, I'm not sure that a cf/ck weave would be the best choice, as they both "shatter" and send armies of little shards to attack you instead of just bending on impact... -
Question In Regards To Door Trims
Merli replied to phunky_monkey's topic in Motorsport Discussion & Builds
Take a look at your doors... If those doors cop a hit those thin metal sections joining your "speedholes" are liable to snap, point towards your body and attack. Flat sheet aluminium door cards covered in lightweight carpet will make the car look nicer and that tiiiiiiiiiny bit safer -
All three Elise models on the Lotus website (Elise S, Elise R and Elise SC) are specced with 1.8L engines...

Just had a look at the Natsoft... Since when to Elises come with 2.0L engines?

Have you tried calling the distributors (above)? Or are you just going by word of mouth? The distributor in NSW is Gary's Motorsport Tyres: http://www.garysmotorsporttyres.com.au/ Another place that's closer to you, and probably cheaper as well is Stuckeys in Victoria. http://www.stuckey.com.au/

I do indeed, just came off my R32 GTR... Only done 5000kms. Perfect condition. $200 pickup from JustJap (Kirrawee, Sydney), or $250 shipped anywhere in Australia.

Hmmm... gives me a date to aim for Put me down as interested, pending the car being screwed back together by then.
