  1. ouch! always watching auctions... tomei built rb24 with rb26 rocker covers and cam cover went up about 3 months ago... 120,000yen only 8,000kms used... genuine tomei cams, pistons, rods, crank everything... i shouldve bought that but instead i bought another set of work vs-kf madgt4 would remember this engine - me tearing my hair out in the final mins of the auction deciding which to take... wheels or engine! damn am i dumb! rods are cost efficient to purchase from jp which i am doing however crank i will be purchasing locally as they arent that exxy here and can gurantee no transport damage or anything! question is... who to build now... several suggestions so far and need an 8cm td06-20g housing also!

SK hush - you will not persuade me! im doing it for the little man... the little man in japan which designed the rb20! he started a revolution for us all! i am going to expand on his starting point! that and a high rpm will be quite handy for the drift with the td0620g which should provide a nice torquey powerband in efficiency range of about 1.4bar all the way through certainly the 8cm housing im after atm for my stock rb20 as a temp thing i would not use - more so reverting back to the 12cm housing coming with the kit for the 24 as the added capacity and low down torque will still retain a similar spool timeframe for coming on boost and also effectively maximise the efficiency of the high rpm rb24 rb20 base FTW!
  4. i too have investigated the above figures and its about spot on... unless you can get cams to approve a grant for the day (my contacts with cams board are no longer so im out of the question) then we wont be able to... generally you can get a grant for cams to cover part of the $ (say half)... if anyone does want to try and round up 40 cars id be more than happy to pay 100-150 for a full 8hour prac day... grip and no grip

  7. huddster - how much it cost mm you? i got price quoted EMS 6x tomei rb24 pistons $1926 i was *pull collar of shirt* now the position im in atm is which pistons to use... r33 crank and rods i can pickup anytime... now its wether or not go genuine tomei pistons or go brand new aftermarket 4agze forgies? turbo is in the process of being purchased also (waiting on seller to get back to me) TD06-20G high mount kit... currently has 12cm housing... untill the 24 is built (not till next year itll be ready im budgeting) id like to use an 8cm housing if roy/sk have one laying around?
  8. got some bits for sale guys... dont want to send stuff interstate so... also looking for some bits too! cusco as REAR (yes REAR!) strut brace for r32/c33/a31 - $180 r32 hicas power steering pump - offer a31 aircon setup - offer a31 rb20det full brakes/hubs/stub axles setup - offer s14 rear complete 5 stud conversion, stub axles/hubs/rotors/calipers/handbrake cables - offer a31 rear seat and some interior bits - offer a31 factory bonnet - good cond in navy blue - offer rb20det turbo - seems to work fine (upgrading) - offer looking for front s14 stub axle/strut bolts (the 14mm ones) i believe r33 might be the same unsure... only need 2! thanks guys
  9. ookami what are you on about? i can see 3 on local australian forums for sale atm... unfortunately they're all 2nd hand and are start at 1k without hand controller as said above - easily available to be ordered and i can put you in the right direction... too much myth about these... hell you can even go on nengun and greenline and order them... its not hard!
  10. people try to get 1k-1500 for them unfortunately i would never pay this and they usually tend to find it hard to sell these 1250 brand new with handcontroller for the ap engineering rb20 powerfc (7 day turnaround for delivery) they are not rare... plenty of stock in JP if you are interested i can put you onto the guy who i get my stuff through... nice bloke who lives in japan

  14. everything that you can do to an s13... you can do to a laurel/ceffy... i have s13 castor rods gtr r33 sway bars s13 coilovers s14 front stub axles/hubs r32 rear hubs s13 rear upper arms its all the same shit
  15. rip it out! i just ripped mine out... best thing i ever did! and no dodgy stuff either... used a non hicas rear cradle and a non hicas steering rack to make sure nothings bodge!

  19. i dont know why... mates saying 25 25 25... and do a 26 stroker... as we have a spare 25 at his place... but for some reason i just want to stick with the 20... the heads are nowhere near as efficient and with alot of head work you can get close (id say on est around 75% to the flow of a 25/26 head) but still something about them... they were the original RB... they have a long history and have certainly satisfied/assisted alot of the great track drivers we know today (both drift/drag) rb20 block FTW!

  21. track only build up here no rego... thus from my understanding the flow efficiency at higher rpm was better? ive tossed up the rb30 and even 25 to 26 idea... even a 26 itself... im happy with rb24... its a loyalty i have to the engine... and externally nothing will have to change

  23. Hey guys, Just looking for some past experiances with recommended workshops in adelaide... going down the RB20 to RB24 conversion... just wondering who should do the work? I was thinking willal or tillbrooks? any suggestions? cheers
  24. hey guys been doing lots of reading and searching through archived threads and also talking to friends in japan also... my old rb20 i decided to take the head off to really look at what damage was done by the transport company... piston 4 rings are totally gone and some nice scores in that piston... apart from that everythingelse is dirty but looks to be ok (especially cyl bores) looking to do an rb24 conversion using 26 crank and rods... before i send it anyway i do want to shop around and get most parts myself to make it easier for my builder and cheaper for me rb20 complete engine - check (still turns over... on 5 cyl ) n1 oil pump n1 water pump (both of which fit correct?) when looking at crank and rods what are the differences between 32/33? i have a friend who has 33 crank and rods in really good nick with no fractures... and i understand the gtr 33 crank has benefits inregards to the oil pump drive? and the 2 big questions... pistons (4agze forgies will suffice? i have looked into the tomei .82 rb24 pistons which are a bit under 2k delivered from JP) and headgasket? what to use? could not find the tomei rb24 headgasket on the site... custom? also any other recommended bits while im at it? i want to do this once and do it properly... working 56hour weeks is hurting also just to pay for it! this motor will be running a td06-20g 8cm ext gated setup with ap eng rb20 power fc (already have this) any help is much appreciated guys... its been a while since ive fiddled with internals (takes me back to motor school) thanks!
