  1. i just rang the RTA's "Technical enquiries for vehicle regulations: 1300 137 302" the guy i spoke to said that it doesnt cost anything and all they basically do is check if the car has been stolen. it may not cost anything but it means that i have to take the day off work to do it. they are not open weekends and dont open till 8, and they close about 330. i start work at 730 and finish at 4, how do they expect people to get it done if they cant get time off work? sounds like a HUGE waste of MY time (and holiday pay) if you ask me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. just found this... Here some tips for guys importing under SEVS who are required to go to the "pits" when attempting to register their car: 1) The "pits" in this case is the nearest RTA Vehicle Identification Inspection location. Run by the VIIU (Vehicle Identification Inspection Unit) branch of the RTA. This is not a roadworthy check. 2) The inspection takes 40 minutes to complete 3) The best appointment time is 1.40pm. The VIIU guys break for lunch at 1pm and do not do any inspections until about 1.30 - 1.40pm. If you book at any other time you may have to wait around until the previous inspection completes. A couple of guys who arrived after my 1.40pm inspection had to wait an extra 15mins or so. 4) In NSW there is a VIIU location in Penrith, Silverwater and Botany only.
  3. anybody know what they actually do at a "Vehicle Identification Inspection" ??? and how much it is going to cost me?
  4. Bloody RTA! i went and got my blue slip done this morning...$110...wow and when i went to the RTA they said that the computer decided that i would have to go and get a "Vehicle Identification Inspection" done before i can register the car, and the next available booking isnt till tuesday...im beginning to wonder if this car will ever be on the road im just so sick of waiting...but on the bright side, i did get to drive may car into penrith and back today which was great fun, i now know what you guys mean about people looking at you funny and thinking what the hell is that?
  5. yeah ill try and find out what it is, although in reality my old man is an automotive electrician, so i will probably just palm the problem off to him when he is installing my alarm I think i can get away with another inch, im sure i can get used to driving carefully into driveways etc
  6. VERY excited, i get to drive it for the first time tomorrow...well legally anyway, to go and get my blue slip, then to the rta to get it registered. yeah the front bar is big, and side skirts would be nice, but i think it needs to be lowered first...amongst other things...(bov, boost controller, spray front bar,fix rust under passenger side mirror, head unit, subs, amp...etc etc)
  7. the power windows are definately unlocked, its only the front passenger that doesnt work, all of the others work fine
  8. im gonna put the cd player out of my corolla into the stag so i wont worry about the converter. but ill give triple j a go in the mean time. the headlight are head lights, the foggies on the front bar are on the indicator stork, and the foggies int the grill are the high beams. ...so much light, i cant wait to get on the road and start blinding people...lol
  9. nothing was wrong, there was en extra wheel half way along the indicator stork that i didnt notice before i still need to sort out why i cant control the passenger front power window from the passenger seat, but i can still do it from the drivers seat switch panel, maybe the switch is unplugged or something
  10. i just went out and got a photo of it unfortunately i was lucky enough to get the rust under one of the mirros, but i'll probably just get that fixed when i do the front bar
  11. arrrrrrrrrrh, nice pick up. that would be pretty cool if you could plug in other things aswell. the torch that is on the side swivels to point in the direction that you want it, which is pretty cool. i folded down the back seats and closed the rear hatch and had a lie down in the back this afternoon, i must say there is HEAPS of room in there. i also reclined the rear seats when they were still up, they go back a fair way, would be perfect for lying back and watching a roof mounted monitor if i was ever to install one ive also had a bit of a muck around with the radio, sre there any decent FM stations under 90.0??? there are a couple of half decent stations on AM but they arent that great and i figured out how to use all of my lights, it must look funny to someone coming towards it with all six lights on.
  12. just took some photos...before i gave it a wash ................................................................. what is this? /\ /\ /\ /\
  13. i'm getting the blue slip done at 8:30am tomorrow so hopefully i'll have it registered by lunch time. yeah no worries, feel like cruising out penrith way? i usually do a bit of cruising on a thursday night if you have nothing planned tomorrow night?
  14. the front indicators are working so ive got no idea why the foggies arent...although i havnt really had a chance to get a decent look at it
  15. if all goes well i'll have it registered on thursday...fingers crossed
