New TPS turned up on thursday, only took 1 week. Fitted it after tea thurs night and took for a drive. No different!!!!! Had wagon checked twice, back before christmas and was told TPS was faulty. Today I checked TPS volts via Apexi avcr and multi meter, back to back (old verses new, closed 1.1-1.3v, open 3.95v) NO real difference!!!! With ignition on, but engine not running I can hear what sounds like a soliniode (spelling??) or relay humming that varies in pitch (not a click). Down on hands and knees it sounds like it's from down lowwer half of engine/ auto gear box. What the 'fruit tingle' is going on?? The idle will vary when it wants (cold or hot), won't change gears properly, not at all or varyed rpm shift points (tiptronic auto), steering and diffs get tight backing out driveway. Car will serge mildy on cruise. Wagon had these symtoms prior to head gasket fix so I believe I haven't caused problem. Help needed asap as we are really over it and wife wants to go boosting!!!!!!!!!!!

Are they brand new genuine headlights or a good cut and polish? Any tips for cloudy lenses??

Recently our S2 Stagea shat a head gasket. I thought I would share some part numbers, tappet clearances and tips from the big job. Our wagon had only done 80k km. It would ping ever now and again. I supose it was bound to catch up with us. Engine was missing front head dowel when removed?! Once I got the head off I match ported manifolds to head. Took it to machine shop and it only had to have exhaust seats cut. They also blended the 'seat to port' factory machining steps. Planed head surface (min.) They adjusted tappets. They supplied an ancilary belt set and a set of NGK BCPR7ES spark plugs (I gapped to .8mm). I went the 7's for now to help with no detonation. We decided to buy 100k km service kit upon inspection. Used genuine nissan parts. Included t/belt, ten., adj., water pump, t/stat and cam seals (c/o Kudos m/sport). Gen. nissan VRS (Kudos). Gen. nissan head bolts (Kudos). I used ACL Hylomar on gaskets. I had injectors cleaned just cause. I fitted a Greddy ex. gear at same time. I decided to fit a new rad. when I found the replacment was 25mm thick compared to 16mm. An extra fitted while off the road is a set of Whiteline sway bars. Also have had a dodgy TPS for a while and am changing!! We are half way through a 2 week wait for it to make its way over from Japan on the slow boat!?!? Tappet clearances I found (NEO engine) were: Ex. .014"-.016", In. .017"-.019" Anc. belt numbers are one of each. 4pk0890, 4pk0865 anda 4pk0910 Tensioner & idler numbers on boxes were: 60TB0732A & BT-10513, 56TB2801B01 & BT-10529. First number of each was hand written. Gen. nissan 82 deg t/state: 21200-V7206 Gen. water pump: 21010-AA527 Gen. PCV rocker cover gromet: 11051-5L300 Gen. VRS: 11042-AA525 Gen. TPS: 22620 AA509 Keen for TPS to turn up so we can drive and go get a tune using Apexi AVCR & Apexi Multi Checker. The wagon is going to get it once it is tuned!!!!!! Happy boosting!

I am not a mechanic, just a car nut! Pipe coming out of firewall is aircon drain pipe. Wouldn't think one should have coolant coming out of there! Is your engine using water/ coolant? Is it filling overflow bottle? Is the exhaust temp hot on your hand at tailpipe once car is warmed up? Is it blowing big bubbles in radiator in turn pushing alot of water out? You could go to a radiator shop and they should be able to do a gas test and pressure check on your coolant system, meaning maybe sus head gasket. Has the waterpump got warn bearings? Is waterpump belt tight enough? I have a radiator and t/state I just took out of my 80k km S2 Stagea couple of weeks ago that are useable.

Have you got a pair of rear shocks in good nic?

Hey Chook thanks for that, have just sent you a pm with some details in it, but your'e too quick for me.... Just a little confused though, the part number listed is for post 08/98 as FAST said, but the date stamps on the pink plate just near the strut tower says 06/98, but then on the silver one on the firewall it had 2498, does anyone know it that means 24th week, as in June 98? Or am I just being padantic (sp?), and need to have a cup of concrete and harden the f$%k up???

Hi there, hoping for some help, as our Local Nissan dealer is abit useless, we have an issue with the throttle position switch/sensor in our s2 auto. Within the space of 2 months the price of a genuine one from Nissan has risen from $170 to $420, now someone we've spoken to doesn't have a clue, the part number that Nissan have given us for the $420 one is 22620 AA509. I don't really care how much a new one is but it need to be fixed and want to make sure we are ordering the right thing before we part with $420. Are people finding benefits from indexing spark plug in RB turbo engines? Which way are you facing open side of electrode? I have a heap of washers that I am feeling the need to use when I put the head back on our wagon this weekend.

Out of interest, who is entered for Powercruise??. If I can get head back on the Stagea this weekend with no problems and get wagon tuned during the week, we may enter? If not tuned I still want to go for a look. Didn't make it last year. A little bird told me that there may be a jet black blown HG? sedan there (UCSMOKE, ex tassienats). FUULLLYYYYYY SICK!! It did the first 400 mtr + power skid I have ever seen!!

Read whole post. How are we doing crank bolt up on an auto. Rad. out but has air con. den. Rattle up with loctite?? Can colqf post a pic of tool that he made or sell and post to me??

Our Stagea blew a head gasket over cristmas holidays. Took a couple of days to get head off. I match port head, manifolds and dump pipe (CES 3"). Took head to machine shop and it only needed a touchup on exhausts and a plane. They took out sharp edges in ports under seats. Just waiting on vrs, head bolts and 100k service kit (timing belt etc) to turn up. I put Whiteline sway bars front & back and Apexi height and damper shocks in front last weekend. Adjustable ex. timing turned up yesterday (Az StrYder). I have a new 1" core rad. to go in. The rad. taken out is OK for a spare or cheap replacement. The car already has a full 3" exhaust. We bought a set of 18" mags a week before h/g went. Hanging to get it back together and get it tuned with Apexi AVCR assisted by Apexi 'Multi Checker'.

Have been searching for head tensions and tappet clearances to suit an rb25det NEO (R34) engine. Local Nissan coudn't even tell me. Are head tensions the same for all RB engines and are tappet clearances the same as GTR? Want to get head back on this weekend. Help please!!!!

spotted our s2 sitting on jack stands in our driveway with a blown head gasket..... gee it sucks.. but it does have shiny new mags on (not in pic)....lol
