Jose, if you were seeing boost that late for a 3071 on an SR then there was something either faulty with your car of you had a bad wrong combination. I have never seen a twin scroll 6262 on any RB26 not have 15psi by 4000rpm on ethanol. I'm sure you'll be happy with one on a SR, just keep in mind the 6262 is capable of power beyond what is safe on 98 octane (for an SR20.)

Don't worry I have the exact same convo's with one of the most well known tuners in the US responsible for half of them. It's amazing on their behalf, I have trapped 164mph with the 71, I would have expected to see 170mph on 58psi if the thing would have held together on the 82... They are onto something, full credit to them.
-
Yes it was either going to be really good or really bad! Dave, it was actually the EGT warning light set too low, the light at the end was the oil pressure though. Simon, the first pass was on 49psi from memory and the second was on 58psi. Brad, I think I bogged one run last time out when we went fast, the last year had seen a lot of mucking around to find the balance between bog and wheelsping. We had absolutely no testing with this turbo (which is an 8285 with a 1.12a/r) so it's an absolute monster of a turbo for a 2L. Reality is there is enough turbo there to touch into the 6's in a chassis car. I believe it could have been good for 170mph on a clean pass, remembering that the car is 2700lb with me. So far from what we've seen looks like it stretched a rod bolt, they are rated to 250hp a rod and I would confidently say that it was making 1000hp atw. It ran a 1.6 on the first pass and a 1.5 on the grenade. Best 60ft has been 1.28 on radials and 1.32 on slicks.

Some of you may already know we temporarily made the jump to an 8285 on the SR and took it out with a no mercy attitude. It was going to either go mega fast or turn into a grenade. It chose the later option! Sprayed the track and in the process the tyres. We were on 58psi and all I can say is when it came on from 2nd gear wow....never felt anything like it. Another close call with a wall, but in Flying 500 style managed to save it. Bottom end is carnage!! Glad I didn't wrap the car, I have plenty of SR spares. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xACxbx6C6R8 And the incar... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OivcTogApps&feature=youtu.be

LOL Darren, I don't believe we've met but you certainly got the 6boost hat right, those things have been permanently fixed to my head since their inception!

Should have said hi, Lith. Unfortunately I wasn't on top of things with the boost control at WTAC, the street and circuit grip level was completely different. Before the hairy last session we even took it outside and tuned it to full traction, then turned it down again for a bit of assurance. It turned the tyres on the first run, so in between runs, not being able to look over the log, I took a stab at what speed I thought it was breaking out. What I ended up with was 22psi all the way half way through 4th to an agro 45psi which lit the tyres up. Being such a big event rather than pedal, I mashed it and held it flat, and a slight over correction when the front wheel speed was doing 220km/h and the back doing more like 260km/h sent me facing the walls....at least the crowd loved it! We are revving it to 9000rpm over the line at 164mph. PTE don't make a TS housing yet, I was speaking to Harry when he was here for the Nitro Champs and they don't feel the demand is big enough.
-
Nothing that hasn't been done before Darren, Just not on a street car! As long as it doesn't fall off boost between gears it should be ok, remembering that can rev this to over 10 grand if I have to, I'd prefer not to though.
-
Well, my mate has an 8285 with a .98 housing machined up, it will go straight onto mine, so if I'm going to put a track turbo in, it will be that. I can't even imagine how that would feel on my engine when it comes on....this one hits like a train as it is!
-
LOL Darren! I don't know what point it will need something special, we'll see if we can squeeze another 5psi out of it.
-
Thanks guys, I'll make a decision after next time at the track. Nothing special on the head other than George from Advance decked it by hand with a stone block. No one believes me!

Well looks like we're starting to come close to what the 7175 is capable of in my car, there's a couple more things we'll try first before we possibly switch to something bigger. Tapped 51psi a couple of runs and with the car trapping 164.5mph and weighing in at 2670lb it's showing around 925hp at the wheels, Precision rate the turbo to 985hp. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSBivS5qmpc&feature=c4-overview&list=UUCVe2Q-x7n-mDvtT1rrV9cg This is more of a blog / video of the day, don't think you can view it from a mobile. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zijeh6axvyc

I stuffed with the boost control settings between runs and took all the power out of the speed in 3rd and part of 4th. The transition from 22-45psi was brutal, held it flat while baking, hit a bump and slight overcorrection sent me towards the grass. So my own actions got me there and got me out, fortunately! You bet, can't put a value on thrashing pieces of junk!

Pure survival man, I'm lucky I didn't end up another metre to the left or it may have been a sad ending. I guess all the paddock bashing I've done over the years and hand brake driving accounted for something! Thanks! I'm glad you and the crowd seemed to enjoy it. My mouth was very dry afterwards, the G-Force when I was shooting to the right of the track was pretty intense!

Glad that someone posted some footage of the hairiest moment I've had in the car! From 3:30 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ep2GL3k4e7c

Given that I've seen 491kW out of a plain jane GT35 on an SR and backed up with 147mph in a full weight 180SX, I would expect a 6262 to push over 500rwkW. I don't know how much over 500 it would do, but I guess the 6262SP was the one that put Precision on the map with a couple of EVO's that were trapping over 150mph and one into the 8's, that was enough to suck me right in back in 2008! By the way I have a 6466 sitting here unopened in the box with a .84 T4 divided housing, it's been sitting here while I contemplated testing one on my own car but I'm going to pursue with what I have for now. PM me if interested.
-
Sorry dude, I only read the post above mine which was 350kW. Sure 35psi is going to need something a bit bigger, I would be shooting for a 6766 to run 35psi through an RB. What's 3mm between mates
-
A 6262 would do 350kW through an auto standing on its head and have the response to match.
-
Went out again last night with new suspension, looking forward to a prepped track and getting the car to hook up. Ran a PB on lower trap speed and a slower 60ft so that's a good start! 2730lb, only thing removed was the passenger seat and side pipe fitted. Looking forward to get this thing to hook up so we can tap out the 7175! Different angle with incar

I've had a few people quiz me about this car, maybe they didn't realise a 6466 is rated to 900hp

Chasing one preferably Sydney, must be factory mechanical centre. PM or call 0438 1600 81

John, you of all people should know from Ninos's car the differences in power from his Chinese core to the Plazmaman 4" unit that is on it! A 45kW gain at the wheels from nothing by an intercooler change, when I saw the result difference on the dyno I admit, I didn't believe it for a second. But when he went out and backed it up going from 140mph trap speeds to almost 147mph on the same boost, I have nothing but faith. Intake temps dropped by more than 25C. I know that you want the most out of this setup so I will definitely say that a Chinese intercooler is money down the drain, as Piggaz said, you've spent an absolute bucket load on everything else for the best parts, it's like anything, you get what you pay for. Another option would be for you to use something in their 3" range like BCH-10R, it makes 450kW comfortably with good air temps for nearly half the price, or any of the old Trust/HKS 4" coolers are good too if you can find a good second handie.

Tested United Yagoona 90% on Saturday night.

I don't know what they have planned but it was a similar story with Precision, they had website that hadn't been touched since 2006 or so, seemed a few newer turbos with very little information and a team that didn't seem like it was going to expand. They really went back to the drawing board and stepped up their game to make them what they are today. Although they seem to be a smaller scale company there's no reason why FP couldn't if they pumped some funds into some making their operation more efficient. They must have sold thousands of Red and Greens for EVO's!
-
They produce some awesome results and it's great to see that you're happy, Matt! The drivers seat is the best dyno after all. I managed 375kw ATW on my 3037S with a 1.12 A/R housing and that was ringing its neck on 25psi. What deters FP from more sales other than the price is the limit as to turbine housing options, FP can be hard to deal with and they barely offer a trade discount no matter how big of a company you are. It's a shame because they have some great products with great quality control but being a small company also comes at the cost build time as well, maybe they're just happy with their nieche after all?
