  1. I changed the water pump tonight and it has come good (touch wood) thanks everyone
  2. I'm afraid it's just an old non turbo liberty - and it is now behaving exactly like it was before I replaced the water pump, the only way to make water in the rad move is to squeeze the top radiator hose. I am familiar with the procedure for refilling coolant, and the water is not full of oil and vice versa so hopefully the head gaskets are still intact (mind you it's probably just a matter of time) I think I will give it to some radiator guy's this afternoon (couldn't make it in yesterday) to see if it's blocked, but I wont be surprised if it's this water pump again...
  3. Cheers Scotty - I will drop into a radiator place on the way home. I admit I did not check the thermostat, from where I live the cost of a replacement was sufficiently low enough that I grabbed one while I was at the service centre when I spoke to one of their mechanics rather than make another trip. The gauge seems to represent the temperature of the engine when I touch various hoses and parts, so I have no reason to mis-trust it so far, and it is true Warps, there is probably many places I could go to for good info, but I'm a big fan of 'go with what you know' and this forum has not led me astray yet Many thanks guy's
  4. Hey Guy's, I am throwing myself at your mercy for some assistance with my scoobie - this forum is the only place I know of for decent advice! I have even spoken to mechanics and I am getting nowhere It started overheating the other week - engine hot, radiator cold. So I replaced the thermostat with a burson unit and stuck the hose in various points (block, heater, radiator and no blockage), no improvement. Then I replaced the waterpump (another burson) and it was good for a week when it started overheating again... it began overheating, then going back to normal temp's, then overheating, then back to normal - so I replaced the thermostat with a gen subaru one, and it was good for one drive for 20 minutes, quick fuel stop then overheated then back to 3/4 hot on the way home. I filled it with some water, seemed to be a bit low, then it guzzled the water, then comes back, and occasionally spits water out. The radiator was hot to touch, but the heater is cold and the thermofans kick in as they should I am wondering if I scored a dud water pump and I should go to Subaru for a proper one, but I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas before I pull this thing apart again (I am so close to just setting the damn thing on fire...) Many thanks
  5. Thanks Dave - turns out it was the water pump! I don't think I will be going back to a certain mechanic (I wont name names, mabey he was just having a bad day...) Feel a bit of a goose now tho, Jon pulled an engine out for me - so there is going to be a very apologetic phone call in the morning.
  6. Magic, thanks Jon I will be giving you a call
  7. Hi guy's, I'm after an ej22 liberty motor to drop into a 1990 liberty - it's blown a head gasket and I dont have the dollars to throw at it to rebuild Sorry about the request for scooby bits on a Nissan forum - but I'm desperate, and I know SAU guy's are legendary! Near Hobart would be great, if you can help me out I would appreciate a reply or PM, Cheers, Dave
  8. Hey guys, car has been sold - thanks all
  9. Swaps? I am keen on getting a liberty wagon, must be manual tho Oh, and I can put on some other rims, still r32 rims with less tread on the tires to drop the price a bit more if anyone was interested
  10. Oh, pictures might be a good idea, and my number - 0410 007 392. Located in Hobart
  11. Hey all, Had a bit of bad luck, the motor has lunched itself a bit. The bolt holding on the idler snapper (10mm smegging bolt) and the timing belt let go and has bent the valves etc... So I would like to sell it all in one go, I just dont have the energy for it anymore - Im not going to part it out, so dont bother asking. Has rego, and a whole lot of good stuff with it, looks pretty stock and was pretty quick and fun to drive. Below is a bit of a list of some of the bits and pieces that will come with it: December rego New Federal tires New stuff: walbro fuel pump, oxygen sensor, front drive shafts, coil packs, Other stuff: rb25 and rb20 turbo, r34 intercooler plumbed into stock location, split dump, 4" hks exhaust, hicas lock bar, coilovers Stock interior in great condition, carpets and dash are like new - no bubbles. Few other bits and pieces. I have spent a lot of hours cleaning it up and sorting things out with it, so it should be a good little project for someone I would like about $4500, but very negotiable, I really need to sort out some transport for myself. Cheers all Dave
  12. So the project I have been working on for about 8 months - and I have not even had the chance to give it a good bootfull over a nice mountain pass, has done just that... and destroyed the engine. So how likely is it that a bolt that could lift a bus would snap under what is not that massive a load?...
  13. Still have the skyline - and I am going to have to let the other car go next week, so this weekend only i.e 15th and 16th I will drop the price to $8k ono. After the weekend the price goes back up again! Oh and its got new front cv's as well, forgot to mention before
  14. Hey all, the original sale unfortunatly fell through - so I'm thinking a nice shiny new thread is in order Baisically I have spent a lot of time and money getting this R32 GTS4 in prime condition, It was to be my weekend car but life has not worked out how I had planned so it has to make way for something a bit more practical. Anyways I have dropped in a low k's import engine that has been freshened up inside and out with all new gaskets/water pump/timing belt etc... rb25 turbo, r34 intercooler, walbro fuel pump, new oxy sensor, new coilpacks etc and cleaned every hose and sensor so it would be as reliable as possible. Other things off the top of my head are 5 months rego, 4wd/rwd switch, 1w led's in the park lights, rewired the sterio, a set of coilovers (I am running the stock springs cos Im old and I like it more comfy), removed hicas and all the hydralic lines, and a bootfull of spare bits (inc a spare rb20 turbo) It is running like a dream, goes hard and feels quick. I have recently put new tires on it, plenty of meat in the brakes, had a recent service with Motul 4100, platinum plugs, filter etc... I took it in to Autocraft recently to have it looked over to make sure it was tip top before I sold it and all they replaced was the oxygen sensor after spending quite a bit of time on it, they said all it needs is some boost wound in and it should be pretty awesome (currently 10psi) Few bad points, there always is - but all just cosmetic, bit of heat damage on the roof (bubbling, not too noticeable) the hideous side mirrors and the felt on the passenger side door card is missing (both are pretty easy to replace) The car is brilliant to drive and will be a shame to see it go, It is very clean and almost stock. This is my 2nd gts4 so I have done all the little maintenance bits and pieces that I found out the hard way before it becomes a problem on this one - if you are in the market for a good one, give me a shout. I am chasing around the $9k mark, I was foolish enough to put a deposit on another car before the orij. sale went through, so I am pretty negotiable on price for a quick sale - Im not on the net too often, so best to give me a call on 0410 007 392 anytime (a.h. is better if possible) if you would like more info, thanks guys ^_^
  15. Spoke too soon - The buyer has backed out last minute due to funding difficluties! So she goes back up for sale. Currently running like a dream - everything is totally sorted and is a great drive I am rather negotiable on price at the moment too becase I foolishly went and jumped the gun and put a deposit on another car. So give me a shout if you are interested on 0410 007 392, thanks guys!
  16. Hmm, looks like I might just have to see if I can make the time then Thanks everyone for the advice
  17. Apologies in advance for a question that has most likely been covered, but I have no internets at home and zero time at work to search (had a quick search but nothing) I need to ship a car from Melbourne to Hobart, who have you used? and how much (ballpark $$ is fine) I would like to go over to pick it up and shoot back on the boat, but just dont have the time at the moment. Thanks guys
  18. Thanks guys - the car is sold and off to a good home
  19. Disregard above phone number - the phone I had borrowed was rubbish, so I got myself a shiny new one - 0410 007 392 Thanks all
  20. Sorry forgot to update this - all sold
  21. Might be a long shot but try farnell - they have heaps of stuff

Hmm, that looks like the mark they put on every chip to tell you which way around to install they chip. Whenever I have burnt chips (and I have blown a few ) they generally burn in the middle and they smell pretty funky...

I had a similar issue and it turned out to be the cas... or was it the computer... one of the two anyways
  24. Coilpacks are in and she is fixed, drives really nicely - I dont want to sell it now! Still for sale tho, 9k firm now. Also I have a mobile phone - 0428 668 672, give me a buzz if you want a look or more info etc...
  25. Thanks Josh, it is the car I have always wanted and it sux I have to sell it, but life is what happens when you make other plans eh' Also I decided to bite the bullet and have ordered a set of coil packs for it - Looks like I will be sleeping on the old inflatable mattress for a bit longer ...but at least I can sell it running sweetly
