  1. I was thinking that too, but it dosent seem like they have gone to any great lengths to balance it from the factory, plus im not taking all that much off, just the dags from the grinding process...
  2. Yeah, ok before this thread gets silly , I dont have a lot of cash -hence the standard replacement, but what I do have is patience, and if this will give the new turbo a bit easier time of it then I will do the job...
  3. Ok this may seem like a silly question, but I blew my turbo this week, and while I wait for the replacement 2nd hand unit to arrive (thanks Odessa) I decided to pull apart the old one to see how it works (its a rainy sunday in Tas, Im bored) and I discovered that the compressor wheel looks pretty untidy, the fan blades are ground off to the right shape, leaving the edges all messy, I have seen photos of compressor wheels with sharp fan blade edges so I wondered if I could tidy it up a little with some sandpaper, so I set about cleaning up a few blades... Im not really expecting any gains, but I figure if I am trying to flow 165'ish kw through this little wheel a bit of a tidy up couldnt hurt? am I gong to do it any harm by doing this to the replacement turbo? is this part of what happens when a turbo is 'high flowed'?
  4. 14 psi is a lot for a standard turbo.. too much for mine, for instance
  5. That's fantastic, if nothing else you have to give them points for effort, I like it
  6. I have been told by mr fizpatriks speed works that the only difference is the input shaft, other than that they are just as strong as he has seen them hold up to rb30/25's
  7. Looks like I have got one, thanks all.
  8. Hey Guys, Just blew my turbo and I need another, just a standard one in good nic' will do, I dont have a lot of cash atm, lots of bills + rego and I need my car for work , I have seen a few advertised previously for about $200 + postage and I would be happy to pay that. If you have got one and dont mind posting it to Hobart I would really appreciate a pm, or reply to this thread. Thanks all, Dave
  9. Thanks guys, you know what it turned out to be?... NOthing I let it idle for a little while and the noise went away. Hmm, most days Im a cool frood, but some days (like friday) I cant handle anything...
  10. Is that that tv show? I dont watch tv much... Made me laugh tho
  11. That is fantastic, I like it. Please buy a grandad hat for when you play traffic light gp with commodores!
  12. I think a mix and match never works, keep it nice and stylish. The designer put in a lot of hours to get the whole 'look' right. The 400r kit looks the business, dont mess with it... Thats my opinion, but I think the standard 32 wheels look better than any aftermarket rim I have seen, so I could be wrong, terrible tragedy
  13. Oh, ok. Thanks for that, It was running great b4 tho, I wonder what it could be... Oh smeg, I just had a whinge about karma in the wasteland... I dont think my run of bad luck is going to end any time soon... Here's a general tip for life, Dont flip the bird at karma, this is not a test you should fail. Smeg
  14. Im usually so careful. I have had such a bad week at work, mabey I could have. Oh god please dont say I might have spun a big end, it did that 6 months ago when my friend drove it. I cant afford to fix that again...
  15. Hey guys, Little bit worried now, I went outside to find my car had rolled backwards about 2m down my driveway - in 1st gear, no handbrake, so I moved it back up but now there is a ticking noise that is consistant with revs... drives and idles ok, but there is that ticking noise... what have I done Dave
  16. Ah.., either you are taking the piss, or I should be very careful with mine
  17. And in the famous last words of James Dean... "Hey, I can drive" God rest his zombie bones
  18. Hmm, 120 into a slight bend and it slid from underneath you... tapping the breaks to bring the car under control... 0.09... Please for the love of all that is holy, buy a push bike.
  19. How about the front bar from the gts4? I dont know if they all have one, mine does and it has a large front opening, looks good, is factory and not a gtr...
  20. You do realise you make very little sense? I think you might be refering to a turbo timer, keeps the engine running after you switch the ignition off ya'?
  21. Buy or make a heatshield, this will hold it in place and should return the lost power oh and do it soon or the afm plug will break with the vibrations = more headaches...
  22. Hey Heath, you are on the money here, power to cap then amp, as for the negative it shouldnt matter if you give it a seperate earth or not. You are also right about an accidental discharge, there is a lot of potential energy stored in them and they are designed to discharge very quickly, hopefully the worst thing that would happen is that it would scare the sh*t out of you -keep that in mind when you are removing it too, they will stay charged for days after being unhooked from the battery. Also, they wont stop your battery from going flat as they only store charge that is already there, they can not create power, cheers
  23. I have a gts4 and its great it is a bit heavy to be nice and chuckable, but its still pretty nimble and lots of fun. Finding parts takes a bit longer, but thats always the trade off when you have something special. Its not in the best nic, but I am slowly doing it up, should be a good car when im finished... If your mate wants one, I say go for it! try anything twice
  24. For the cost of a new engine if it goes pop from running too lean, I'd put it on a dyno... much cheaper
