Quick Vids Of The Car On The Dyno
Medium Dave replied to trackdayaddict's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Oh smeg, did the world just end? that was great -
Try using a cat5 cable - if you can Watch the adsl light on the modem, if it starts blinking when it dropps out, it means it cant reach the exchange, call telstra. make sure the modem is not overheating - is it sitting on carpet? turn the modem off and on, does it come back, or do you need to re-start your computer. Run ad-aware and use firefox as a browser Can you ping the modem when it dropps out? Give these a go, pm me with the results Cheers Dave

I may be wrong, but I thought that was for the ac? I would test it by hooking it directly to 12 for a seccond, or switch on the ac...

I fixed my hunting problems, thanks to the books at my local library... no wait this tute! I looked under the copper shield covering the circuitry to find dry joints and flux everywhere, cleaned it up and BAM, my hunting issues resolved! - Dont attempt this unless you have some background in electronics... -

Check out www.rb20det.com it has some good info on tuning and things - Good luck, I will be interested in your results, I have been reading a little into this sort of thing, keep us all updated as to your progress, and I will help where I can (probably not much ) One question tho, rb20 or rb25?

Anything can be done for the right amount of money (or more correctly... no), but if you want a gtr buy a gtr, as soon as you start mucking about like that you end up with all sorts of little annoying issues

My New O2 Sensor Melted! Help Please!
Medium Dave replied to Medium Dave's topic in General Maintenance
Yeah, they had the same plug, went straight in, I tried the rb20 one... Might see if I can find a falcadore one then thanks heaps, youre a champion -
I was having hunting problems and I think it was my O2 sensor, so I picked up two from my mechanic one from an rb20 with a small dent in the side, and a 300zx one which he said would work and looked the same. The old sensor didnt survive the removal process (it was in pretty tight) so I cant put that one back in, so I put in the new one, which had a different sensor, looked like a vent you see on the top of delivery vans, the old one had a series of holes... Anyhow I crossed my fingers, started her up, ran ok, went for a drive around the block, and half way it started running really badly and beginning to smell like something was burning.. I went straight home, lifted the bonnet and the new O2 sensor was smoking! Sorry for the lengthy post, but im a bit stuck for options, I have one more sensor, but I dont want to use it if its going to do the same thing, I need to know if I did something wrong installing it, or it is completely the wrong type of sensor, If i find the other type can I get away with changing the plugs over? I cant really wait 3 weeks to get one from japan, I am a computer tech and need my car for work! Any help is greatly appreciated

Hunting Problem, Little Help Please
Medium Dave replied to Medium Dave's topic in General Maintenance
Mmm, should have mentiond I have done some other fault finding, aac, tps ect.. it is also pretty heavy on fuel too, so I am pretty sure it will work, just wanted a seccond opinion before I got my hopes up, its such an annoying problem... -
Hi Guys, I think I might have tracked down the cause of my hunting problem to the O2 sensor in the exhaust next to the turbo, when it is plugged in it hunts, when I unplug it she runs smoothly, for about 10 minutes... Is it reasonable to assume that if I replace the sensor I will fix the hunting problem, or is this an indication of a different faulty thing. Sorry for the noob like question, I still have much to learn. Any help is much appreciated.

I dont know if its ok or not to throw a 'shameless free plug' to the guys at Jap Import Distributors (08 8266 0212) who helped me out with parts after my break in, they were really helpful, and after hearing why I needed the parts they gave me really good prices too, and posted it all to tas. So there you go, a happy ending to my story

Check out the tutorials page: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=110431 Very similar to the process for a rb20

Hi Guys, Just been changing all the oils in my sky and couldnt find the fill plug for the transfer case, I had a good look around but it escapes me - this gets filled with automatic type d? I think Also the box attatched to the xfer case that connects the drive to the front - does that get filled with diff oil? I managed to find out everything else I needed to know with a bit of searching, but I just couldnt find this, any help is much appreciated Dave

Remapping An R32 Ecu Done And Done!
Medium Dave replied to secondhandninja's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I think nissan tune thier cars ritch from the factory, so theoretically its just a matter of adjusting the 'k' value to get the 12:1 afr, im a noob at tuning, so I have been doing a bit of reaserch with the goal of tuning my car, but I would guess this is all he is doing, then you can fine tune from there, I dunno, I have more reaserch to do, and to buy the equipment -
Alfa Romeo Need Help
Medium Dave replied to alfa_romeo_0007's topic in General Automotive Discussion
They are a bit of a lottery, my first car was an alfa sud, had lots of fun and never broke down, 2nd alfa was a 33, broke down almost every day, and a friend of mine had a gtv6, one of the most fun cars I have ever driven, a few problems... Just get an alfa mechanic to go over it with a fine tooth comb, and cross your fingers -
Both. Or mine does at least, pops up ok, but needs a little help to slide
-
Sounds like the computer has gone into a 'limp home mode'. would probably take it to a mechanic, hopefully its not too serious, like a faulty sensor, but I wouldnt muck around at this stage.
-
Bit quiet on the home front eh? Well I should be recieving a new front driveshaft for my gts4, cant wait to get back in amongst it Although, had a bad day yesterday - came back to my car and some jerk had dinged it, on the good side too - previosly some filthy criminal tried to nick the wing with a screwdriver. The disrespect just makes me mad, we spend so much time and effort on our machines and then these little -Grr, insert profanity- decide that they would like to ruin something that isnt thiers. Bring back national service I say, ship the little buggers to Iraq. Sorry for the rant (again) just a bit sick of this sort of shite.

I got mine through Source Automotive in hobart, Scotty is really great to deal with and he got me a good strong engine, 62788418

I can sympathise with you, had mine stolen too. Why cant they just do you the curtosy of leaving the damn brackets, ah well, I had to make my own in the end - I live in Tas - impossible to get parts... fair bit of mucking about to get it to fit. they broke the surround too (r32) so I patched it up with super glue, strengthend it with some heavy duty paper clips and re-painted it (you are probably better off going to one of those plastic welding places tho) - I will do a bit better job later, or track down a wrecker to get a new surround, but it looks ok for the moment - more important things to do first, like install an alarm... But for now watch pulp fiction, particularly the part where travolta buys heroin...

I Can Feel A Problem Coming On
Medium Dave replied to tacker's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yes, the gentlemans agreement in Japan means thet they are limited to 180kph, easy to get around with a speed cut defender or something. There are also many aftermarket dashboards that read to 300kph, or install an external digital one - there is a kit from jaycar for instance
