PM replied - Sorry, Friday + beers, you know how it is Dori34 - which were you interested in? I have some interest in the seat, but not the wing atm... Letme know and I will find out
-
Dont do it Man! I did and regret it - you will become a slave to the debt and the car! From my experience, I got a loan to buy a car, and left the house till later. A mate of mine did the opposite, bought the house first then the car. At the moment I have no car and only just bought my first (small, cos thats all I can afford) house, and have to drive the wife's lancer. My mate has two houses, owned a collection of skylines and now a 350Z! and we are probably on the same kind of $$$ Edit: I did recently buy another skyline ( <- the gts4), but it was cheap and broken...

Good to hear yo like the roads - just keep it to yourself now tho, we dont need more people finding out and clogging up the twisty bits
-
Ok, Price droppage Mabey $200 for the wing might be a bit more realistic, and $180 for the GTR seat - both negotiable still

Just had a thought - the porche 4wd gearbox could be worth looking at, I think porche engines spin the right way, then the drive to the front wheels will be fine, H pattern is ok, the only trouble would be building an adapter plate to mate to the RB, and sending drive rearwards - you would need to remove the rear drive diff in the gearbox and send drive rearwards with a driveshaft - being very careful of final drive ratios, but they should be able to handle the power straight out of the box. Also you could even use one of the flappy paddle gearboxes for extra techy'ness. *dont underestimate the cost of a gearbox for such a project - it will probably be the most expensive single part! If you are keen to register it, talk to your local transport authority about building an ICV and they will point you in the direction of approved engineers to help you
-
To build one KISIN you would require a totally custom gearbox, the front diff in the sump could be utilised to drive the rear wheels, drive to that diff could be sent in the same way as a normal gtr (just backwards) and forwards to a front diff (which would usually be to the rear) but it would all have to spin backwards, lock the transfer case and be totally modified to have the H pattern shift the correct way around fro the driver. Then you would need to build the car, which you could build as a full spaceframe with intergrated roll cage, then glass fiber body, custom lights, fittings, glass etc... If you were going to all this trouble you would probably want to register it as an ICV so you can drive it on the road, which, depending on your particular state you would need a suitably new engine, I think 3-4 years old or there abouts with the factory computer and emissions equipment... You will spend well in excess of 6 figures, mabey even just for the gearbox, and it will take thousands of hours of custom fabrication. Good luck with the project KISIN, keep us all updated with a build log

No worries Here is a quick pic of the Recaro, and why Im not really after money for it Looks a bit average, but still comfy
-
Oops try this one map or this image... Edit: Ok I suck - just look at the picture!
-
Yep - Its a copy, here is some closer pics (looks a bit grubber than what it really is tho) Its a real gtr seat tho
-
If it were me I would go this way Map It takes in the sideling and a few other targa roads, and you get to drive down the coast a bit, which is good too Mind you, you cant go too wrong if youre after windy roads

Hey all, I am just offloading a 34 gtr wing, but I dont know if it is a genuine one or not, and I dont want to mislead anyone - I assume there must be a way to tell the difference, but I dont know what it is, should I be looking for serial numbers? casting marks? and which bits should be carbon fiber? Thanks all Oh, and I had a bit of a search and I cant find anything - possibly cos I suck...
-
Quick note: the wing must be a copy - the adjustable flap is not carbon, its just painted black! Actually, hold on a sec - is the blade CF, or is it just the end plates? or whats the best way to tell a genuine one.... Where's that search button!

Hey all, Garage clean out time, I have the following available in Hobart - Prices negotiable (I just had a bit of a guess as to what they are worth) R34 GTR Wing + bonus R32 boot lid in black $300 http://i74.photobucket.com/albums/i263/med...ve/Image088.jpg Looks to me like a copy wing, not 100% sure, but it does have the adjustable blade. Bonus R32 boot lid if you want it, if not I can remove it R33 GTR Passenger seat $200 No rips or tears, could do with a quick clean and it would come up nicely Swap: Recaro drivers seat for a stock R32 drivers seat. I want to go back to stock with mine (dont ask why - I dont really know myself) It has a few tears in the usual places, nothing major - just a bit untidy, would be ok in a dirty drift car or whatever I will put some pics up tonight Shoot me a PM and I will give you a call*, or I will give you my number and we can work out details. Cheers Guys Dave *Im not on a lot over the weekends, but I will reply

Thanks Ben - I dont think I will be going too silly, the last thing I want is to draw any attention to myself driving an unregistered car! I will give you a shout as soon as I know my rear hub has its new ball joint pressed in and I will be all set for saturday
-
Nice one, thanks guys I cant wait to get this car on the road!
-
Hey all, Just wondering if anyone in Hobart or thereabouts might be able to lend me a set of 4 wheels with road legal tires for a few hours this saturday afternoon so I can get my R32 (5 stud) across the pits - Mine have a bit of camber wear, and being a gts4 I would like to keep them all the same. I have a set of spare wheels I if needed while I borrow yours, and I will pick up and return the wheels with beers of your choice If you can help me out I would really appreciate it, shoot me a PM if you can. Thanks everybody!

Tafe Courses/learn About Car Mechanics?
Medium Dave replied to DLuded's topic in General Automotive Discussion
The ones I did were in Tassie, you get a course guide in the paper every few months - tis different from one state to the next, they have all the details on their websites, just google adult education + your state and check it out, they have short courses on heaps of different things. They are usually one night a week for a few weeks, or a few hours on a weekend at a tafe or a college so they are pretty easy to get to. -
Tafe Courses/learn About Car Mechanics?
Medium Dave replied to DLuded's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I have done a few adult ed' courses that cover engine rebuild, painting, welding and things - they are run by pretty good people over just a few weeks, so you can pick and choose what you want to learn quickly, then go put it into practice -
PM sent re r32 rims

A few years ago i was reading a magazine (Wish I could remember which one now for reference) where they took a stock evo and gave it to a professional driver who posted some very consistent times around a track. Then the put some very expensive lightweight wheels on (same tires) which he then took out for a few laps - the result, only a few 10th's of a second quicker. Oh, and as for the increase in sidewall issue, take into consideration a formula 1 car tire - massive sidewall... Edit: Sorry, I re-read my post and thought it sounds a bit arrogant - just trying to back up the idea that they will make a difference, but not a big one, not trying to start an argument

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone might be able to tell me where I can find some replacement pillowball bearings for the strut tops in my HKS hipermax coilovers? I have been searching on the interwebs and it seems that they wear out quite frequently, being a spherical bearing of course they would and I would have thought they werent so difficult to locate, but I cant find where to get them from? - Or if they are just totally unavailable, what can I do/use to replace them? - I would be happy with a rubber mount - I just want something that doesn't sound like a datsun 120Y Thanks in advance
