  1. Well, I think I might take the advice of the majority who seem to know their buzz bits. I will have to open another account in ebay and scrap this sale. Looks like I will be stuck driving a POS ford laser 4 a while...
  2. DAMMIT!! Looks like I have to fork out the $400 US for the super t70. Gee, always wanted a dust collecting car and a big turbo for a book stand. Might have to chase the bank for a loan. Oh and I would love to have used my stock turbo but unfortunately its gone to boosted hell. Foreign objects suck especially when it will cost upwards of $1400 to fix. cheers for the help and advice guys, gonna have to lose an arm or something to get compo.
  3. Desperation will do funny things to a man. So will a 60 hour week with a total of 10 hours sleep. Bars suck. Guess I will have to find out if it all bolts up when it arrives, my mech mate will have to do the lot as I have to work. He will tell me in no uncertain terms what is required before I can toss my backup car and actually drive my baby. Thanks heaps for the advice guys, will stay updated when possible, back to work I go.
  4. ARGH!! Damn I wish I wouldn't rush into things!! I have already bid for it and have only 3 hours left for someone to bid higher. Looks like I just committed turbo suicide before I even started the car.
  5. As you may have devised from my name I am but a lowly barman with very limited funds. I am not after any huge power gains and the only reason I wanted to but these things is its only $400 US for the lot. Of course I will be buying a fmic, power fc, pump, injectors etc one day but until then I just want to get the car back on the road. I will be keeping it a low 8-9 psi boost until properly tuned to keep it reliable.
  6. The real reason I want to get this is cuz I somehow sucked something into my turbo before and blew it so now the car is just gathering dust in the garage. By T3/4 I mean a T3/T4 hybrid, high flowed T3.
  7. Hi all, just after a bit of advice. I am looking at buying a new T70 turbo from XS Power for my s1 r33 gts-t and was wondering if it was worthwhile. Whats it like compared to a t3/4? I will be buying this with a top mount manifold and 38 mm external wastegate. My car is pretty much stock atm except for a 3" turbo back exhaust and pod so I want to know what sort of power increase I would be looking at. The specs of the turbo are: OIL COOLED GARRETT INTERNALS WET FLOATING BALL BEARINGS SHAFT & WHEEL TRIM 64.5MM COMPRESSOR WHEEL SUPER 70 60.5MM TURBINE HOUSING A/R .84 COMPRESSOR HOUSING A/R RATIO .70 V-BAND FLANGE Thanks for your time.
  8. Interested, ever been used on any other cars or genuinely new? and shaft play or nicks? Sounds like a home brand as if it were garrett it would be printed on the housing. Check your receipts to see if gcg has written the brand or tech specs on it. Prepared to post to Coffs Harbour NSW? If so how much? Would like to buy asap after pics posted as mine just blew due to the dreaded "foreign object".
  9. I recently had the same problem mate. My afm was screwed when I bought the car. I got it reconditioned for $350. Took a while for them to get the specs right but when they did it really cracked. I have heard new afm's costing from about $700-$950 brand new! If you can try and find a decent second hand one or get it reconditioned like mine. New ones are pretty rare and expensive.
  10. Hopefully I will finally be getting my baby back today. I miss her so much even though she was almost as slow as my laser (I got beaten by a magna sports!! argh). Have to smoke my mate who owns an 88 supercharged mr2. shouldn't be too hard, hehe.
  11. I also have heard some horror stories like that. Dodgy kits that dont fit except if you cut and bend things are not my best choice. Heard of some guy who had to cut up his fan to make it fit. Not a good idea. Also is it worth getting a forward facing intake plenum or are they a waste of money?
  12. Thanks for the info guys. I am 100% positive it is the afm cuz the problem disappeared when I borrowed a mates s1 afm. Boost is currently at standard. I only noticed this problem after getting the turbo done because it was so badly screwed, especially the wastegate bleeding boost thanks to the busted actuator.
  13. Hey guys, just bought myself a 1993 r33 gts-t in what I thought was mint condition. It looked great, sounded sweet with the hegh flow cat and 3" cat back hks exhaust. It wasn't till I got it home that I found out the knob 2 owners ago had overboosted the standard turbo and melted the wheels. I had to pay a bucketload to get new steel wheels, new housing, and wastegate actuator and while I was at it I got it high flowed. Next came the dump pipe. It was at that stage I found a massive power loss at about 4500-6000 rpm. After exhaustive search on the net and lots of trial and error i found out the AFM was shot. Thats getting fixed now and I have run into my next dilemma, WHAT TO WASTE MY MONEY ON NEXT... I know I need a fmic but need to know what is best and on the cheap having spent way too much already. Is bar/plate better or tube/fin design. I also want to do the install myself as my mech "friend" has already taken about a month to get everything sorted (In total I have only driven the car for about 2 weeks and am sick of my POS ford laser). Any suggestions would help. My mods are: High flowed steel wheel standard turbo 3" stainless dump pipe High flow cat 3" HKS cat back exhaust Turbosmart Boost controller (only running standard boost until afm fixed) All the rest is standard atm.
