  1. Mate try cleaning the AAC valve, this usually happens when the ACC is dirty, when was the last time it was cleaned? also the AFM.
  2. mate i'm in Camden, near campbelltown. fat33, no it doesn't happen with every skyline, but it would be the same as the ls1 pistons and burning oil in the commodores when they first brought out the 5.7l v8, not all motors had this problem but it still happened. Also timing is stock, haven't been changed and either has the ECU, so whatever is stock is where my timing is set.
  3. Mate just checked mine and it was .35k so slightly hotter than normal which explains the heat soak. and yes car was just used to go down the road.
  4. Mate check it and let us know if its faulty, if its faulty replace it and see if it fixes the problem, i hope to god it does. Mad082, mate my car doesn't do it all the time either, even now after just driving it around its struggles to idle once i start it again.
  5. What part, thats what everyone has been asking and all we get is "its heat soak, common problem" You only have to look in this thread alone to see that answer. And i believe SK over anyone as we know his knowledge of these cars is second to none. Would love to fix it but if no-one knows which part or where to look then i ain't gonna spend hundreds of $$$ for a mechnic to try and find it. You yourself said you've changed just about everything except fuel pumps, i have changed mine and the problem is still there, so what am i suppose to change everything too just to hope i find it... As i said i think its a common problem with skylines, some get it worse than others, but until someone says yep i found the problem and this is what it is... i'll just keep on believing SK.
  6. As mine is a S2 i can't blame the igniter pack, so i think the bonnet is a good idea and also cold air induction, if you have a frontmount then you'll have a big hole where your old return pipe used to be, unless you have the FMIC kit that plumps back through the original hole, I'm thinking of getting some ducting from the front under the fog/blinker and up through the hole straight to the pod, also try and box the pod up so its not sucking any hot air from under the bonnet and also staying legal. Don't think it is a faulty temp sensor, as its a common problem with Skylines. You only have to look in this induction thread to see people having this problem. Barring all that mate there's not much else you can do but live with it, its a fault alot of skylines have apparently. But remember the skyline wasn't designed for Aussie conditions, they're a japanese car and were designed for Japan. At the track i do 2 laps cool down now where i was only doing one, and i leave the turbo timer running for 4mins with the hood up so hot air can escape. Car still is a pain to start but once its going its fine, also once the car starts to pop in the exhuast i'll finish that lap and start my cool down laps. On the street i have bumped up my idle to 900rpm so it still idles when its playing up although only on about 500rpm, but atleast its running and i don't have to keep starting it.
  7. Get Xizor to PM me his address or where ever the car is.
  8. Also , have you changed the fuel pump yet??
  9. Jeff check AFM, i was working on my car afew days ago, forgot to reconnect the AFM, car started ok and idled fine but once i tried driving it,it shit itself. Where are you now Xizor, i could come over and have a look???
  10. Mate have you got the carbon canister?? if so what size is it? if its a small one im interested.
  11. The fuel i use is 98ron, no additives when at the track. Oil is Shell Helix 5w40 changed every 5000-7000kms, depending on time and laziness. I've succumbed to the whole heat soak issue, as it only happens when temps are high and engine temps are hotter then normal. I'll look into getting some ducting or even a different radiator. By the way, does anyone know if the alloy radiator from Just Jap is better than the stock radiator??? better in as better cooling. Thanks for your time 700hp-GTR33, and everyone else for that matter for trying to help with my problem.
  12. Hahaha your a funny man Ivan. And its sif, not as if. Nah won't be moving on now, wanna piss you off.
  13. Traitor!!! what sre you sucking up for Lizzeh??? Oh and i won't be coming to this, have a family to take care of.
  14. Paul got the fastest time, i think it was a 1:39? Adam next with a 1:40, i think. But yeah Paul won this one.
  15. i'm cool ctjet, just don't understand if you hate it then why keep going on about it. I'll use your words here, if you don't like it...move on.
  16. I think Mal Rose is running his V8 supercars there tomorrow, they were dropping them off today and we thought he was there to run but the bloke at OP said he was just dropping them off for tomorrow, but check before taking my word for it.
  17. Honestly, i can't see why you all are so interested in the new commodore, falcon, etc etc, this is a skyline forum if you want to talk about a holden/ford go to one of their forums.simple. don't like them fine stop talking about them. Its like you haven't got anything better to do or say, so what its not a skyline, and for the record Skylines aren't the best car made either. there are plenty of inherent faults in skylines but no-one ever talks about them do they. On a hot day my skyline runs shit, won't idle, cause of this so called heat soak, yet i bet a commodore will sit there and idle all day in 40-50 degree heat. but this problem with heat soak is affecting alot of people if you look through the performance threads, yet there is nothing i can do but live with it.
  18. Mate talk to ABOBOB, his car is making 270-280rwkw, but i don't know what he has done internally.
  19. Gotta say it was agreat day, yes alittle hot but we got so much track time that it didn't matter. I did 200km's at the track and at the end of the day a porsche turned up for a few hot laps, i followed him around the track and he wasn't much faster then me and he was doing 1:25's so i estimate i was doing 1:26's!!! We did get interupted by a sports sedan that did 3 laps and poured oil alover the track!!! thought our day was done but it dried up abit and before long we were getting stuck into it again. Hairy moment for Adam though, i'll let him tell you about that one. But a really good day, ohh and the corsair challenge!!! how funny was that... Thanks for all the good times this yr people, being my first yr with SAU and my first yr on a track its been great, i don't think i'll be to anymore days this yr, going to give the ol' girl a rest and give her a freshen up. So i'll see you all soon somewhere around and until next yr track whores have a good one!!! Ando my boy if you read this mate the heat is on!!! starting to really get to know how to drive my car so i'm only going to get faster... BEWARE!!! Adam, Paul thanks for all the advice over the track days, it makes it that much better when people are willing to help you whenever you need it. Ohh and Paul my shout next one hey... Wayne, Phil and Steve nice to meet you hopefully see you at some more track days. And Peno, that thing is fast for a boat!!!
  20. track whores FTW!!!
  21. Anti syphon valve??? when i changed the pump i just took off the old one and put new one in its place, didn't see anything resembling a valve... i might not have one, if thats the case it also means the fuel pump has been replaced before i bought the car, where would i get one from?? and where the f**k does it go??? But even if it did syphon back to the tank once it starts pumping it should have enough fuel to idle, shouldn't it? Fuel pressure, no haven't check it. Vacuum leaks, i did check but mate i'll check again when the car is doing its thing. Thought i was the only one cause at the track days i've been to haven't heard anyone asking about this problem, maybe cause i'm the only stupid one that doesn't know!!!
  22. Thing is mate its not missing at all, I can drive the car fine all day in traffic with the car at normal operating temps except on really hot days, or at the track. I can rev it all the way to redline without a miss. But atleast its something else i could try, thanks for suggestion.
  23. Boys, i'll be there, what time is everyone getting there??
  24. SK, i do, but why am i the only one getting heat soak??? there are a few R33's with similar mods aswell but they don't have this problem I know its a heat problem, but what/where is the heat affecting it to the point where the car doesn't want to idle at all and makes the exhuast pop??? OZGTR, ABOBOB just to name a few drive their cars alot harder then i drive mine yet they don't seem to have this problem, they do cool down laps and so do i, but what gets me is the driving in hot weather around the streets, where its not driven nowhere near as hard as it is on the track.
  25. Ohh and mate if you can make Oran Park this thursday your are more than welcome to come have a look for me, i'm 100% sure it will do it then.
