  4. Actually test was done when the motor has cooled abit so i wouldn't burn myself, and the throttle was shut, I will do it again and post new readings.

Sorry George, the thread is about rb20vrb25vrb26, useless if you ask me but people can't help themselves, mate the renew trackday was my very first time on a track!!! in any car and wakie only my second. No i wasn't running semi's at oran park but at wakie yes. to tell the truth i think your car should be faster as being lighter of the two and with mods. Stock for stock no i don't believe the rb20 is better or the rb25 better then an rb26, but if you mod the rb20 the right way it will be quicker than an stock rb25, you could also apply it to an rb25 over rb26. but i my opinion dollar for dollar with same mods and tuning no rb20 will beat an rb25 and same with rb25 to rb26.

  9. Interesting, i wonder what SK would say about this. SK??? NFI, i will be taking it to the track as often as i can. Its got good power for a stocker, at SAU dyno day it made 175rwkw so not too shabby. When i did the comp test it was in this order 1, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, why??? i was just go front to back but then tought that number 6 is the one that stuffs up, usually, so... How do i do a leakdown test??? do i need to take it to a mechanic?

R&R isn't caused by pinging or knocking, your motor will still ping and knock if its got normal unleaded petrol and no R&R kicks in to stop it, its caused by excessive air flow, in a series2 the max boost the stock ecu likes is 10psi, any higher and R&R kicks in, i know cause i have a S2. When the stock ecu gets the reading from the AFM when boost is over 10psi it thinks something is wrong and starts the R&R as a safety net as not to stuff your motor. On S1's i think its about 12psi. But in saying all that i have also read that some people were able to get more from stock ecu's in S2's. I also thought the stock turbo runs out of huff past 12psi, anything over this and it just blows hot air. Plus you have to be careful that it doesn't throw the ceramic exhaust wheel out as this is the weak link in the turbo when boosted past 10-12psi. Ohh and by the way, i don't think you did use the search button, this has been dicussed many times before.
  13. Really, so what is stock compression then??? Mafia i thought your motor has been rebuilt? Nah not pinging, only pings if i use unleaded, use only premium or better.

  15. From my understanding is that people only fit the exhuast cam gear cause that's the one where you get some extra power from when tuned right, but if your just putting it on stock motor then yeah what R31nismiod said. IMHO i would forget the camgears and just get tomei pon cams.

So not to waste time for you moanie pie, People these cams can only be fitted to a RB25 built from sept 97, i have a 97 S2 aswell but was built in march and these don't fit, already did the research. Ohh and if your wondering what the diff is, its something to do with the crank angle senor or something like that. Other wise i would've snapped these up myself.
  20. Hi, yes i did a search and the answer i'm looking for didn't come up. So my question is when i did a compression check, my values were from 135 to 145, i know an RB25DET static ratio is 9:1 but this doesn't tell me if my readings are fine, How do i calculate my values to see if they are good or not? These are my results: 1 - 145 2 - 140 3 - 135 4 - 140 5 - 140 6 - 145 Motor was fairly warm and stupid compression tester was hard to get tight but think they should be about right. No mods other than turbo back exhuast and pod filter. Cheers , Adam.
