Hsv Unveil New 7.0l Engine W427
RyanVLSL replied to Bliksem's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Um it's not Holden who build these engines, it's GM in the states. The biggest engine Holden has ever made, was the 5L 304. (Though a 5.7 stroker was available for the VS GTS-R) -
Remember it's got a Holden badge. He thinks every Holden is crap. Probably never had any real experience either, other than riding shotgun in a mate's worn out VP V6 for 5 minutes. Never liked him, or his opinions.

So f**king what? God I'm sick of people using this f**king argument. Pushrods aren't 1960s technology. It's late 1800s/early 1900s, and look so is OHC/DOHC., but that's alright isnt it? What's wrong with pushrods anyway?
-
I've always been a V8 kind of person. Nothing wrong with Turbos though, but really most people from both sides are as bad as eachother. "Jap crap" "Bogan V8" Well the war will never end. Some think Turbos are superior, some think V8s are superior. No right, or wrong as far as I'm concerned. Just drive what you drive, and be interested in what you want. F*** what anyone else thinks. I had a huge problem with other peoples' tastes affecting mine, but I don't let that sink into my head now.
-
On that subject DOHC can be classed as dinosaur technology aswell, having been around for almost 100 years. It's just most Jap sports cars adopted it later on, giving the false impression that it's newer. Although I can't see anything wrong with pushrods. GM actually had a DOHC V8 back in the early 90s for the Corvette, but it apparently turned out to be a flop, so they switched back.
-
Exactly. The bloody things weigh over 1800Kg, and can pull a 13 from factory. That's quite fast for something that's essentially built from a family car. Commodores get such a bad wrap. They're really not that bad.
-
Not only that, but the engine is from GM and what is Holden apart of again? GM. Makes sense really. If they have the engines available, why not?
-
Hahahaha now that's funny. Reasonable job to own a Skyline? Skylines aren't that expensive, unless it's something like a GTR. I'm sorry, but if you think you need a reasonable job to afford a average Skyline please jump off a cliff, and make sure you land head first on the rocks below. I have also never heard of anyone saying you need to be classy enough to own a Skyline. God maybe you should buy a Merc or something.
-
No, it sounds like you hate the people more than the actual cars. Yes there are "scumbags" that drive Holdens, but there are "scumbags" that drive Imports too. In most cases are actually worse.
-
It's nice to see someone who doesn't carry the typical "Holdens are shit" attitude, for a change.
-
I've been thinking to changing it to best 6 cylinder engine never built, as I love Holden V8s. Might do that now actually.
-
I think I just heard something, must've been the sound of my point flying over your head.
-
Probably because I like the VL? Infact I don't hate Nissan (Why the f**k else would I say the RB30 is the best engine Holden never built under my Av?) I'm just in the mood, for a stir.
-
Well if every manufacturer got it right the first time, than we would have no reason to discuss recalls would we? But the fact is it does happen. I wonder what the reaction would be if this happened to Nissan? Doubt it would though, because Nissans are the greatest cars ever built, that never have any problems. *cough*
-
That's the reason for the recall, so they can fix it. Or would you much rather hear of people dieing, because their V6 VE caught fire as a result of the faulty fuel line?
-
That's exactly right. It is a pissy little thing, but atleast they picked up on it. I know it cost alot of money, but they can't pick up every single thing when they are mass produced. I reckon the new Falcon is going to suffer the same way.
-
I would rather Holden recall them, than to have the problems get worse over time. People see recalls as a bad thing, when really it's not. Look even Jap cars get recalled (Oh Noes!!!!). I think alot of people like to have a dig at Holden just for the sake of it, but quietly shut the f**k up when something with their own car goes wrong.

Why Do So Many People Hate Our Cars
RyanVLSL replied to WogsRus's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I think Commodore owners cop it alot worse. Oh well these days thanks to the media, anything that's got even a hint of modification is a hoon car. We're all essentially in the same boat really. -
Nah mate, not you. I was merely making a example. I know Holdens and Fords aren't in the same league as GTRs, because like you said race car vs family car at the end of the day.
-
Oblivious? Mate plenty of Holden and Ford fans know exactly what their cars are. Yes you get the clowns who think they're sports cars, but don't tar us all with the same brush. Plenty of dickheads think their stock GTS-Ts are what raced at Bathurst 17 years ago too.

Has The New Commodore Changed Your View

The exact same thing can be said about Ford fans. Finally someone who hasn't got their head up their ass. Commodores may be a cheap piece of shit to some people, but to others they do a great job. Like me, and f*** build quality and all of other crap. The VL has served me fine. I don't know of any other manufacturar (Bar Ford) that offers such a range of cars, from V6s to V8s, wagons to sedans to utes, all at a affordable price. They're not designed to be a sports car, with knife edge handling. At the end of the day Commodores and Falcons are more practical than just about evertyhing around, without spending a shitload of money on them. Cars for different purposes. Too bad most people think a car needs to be really fast, and handle like it's on rails. -
Has The New Commodore Changed Your View
RyanVLSL replied to Smurf's topic in General Automotive Discussion
I've been having mixed feelings of the VE as of late. I don't know why but I'm starting to like the VY-VZ shape more and more, and I thought they were ugly. When the new Falcon comes out, the VE is going to look very old, and I'm not a big fan of the Maloo. The sportswagon is very nice though, and I've never been a wagon fan. lol @ people who think the V8 Supercars share anything remotely to road versions, bar the shell and Holden or Ford stickering/badging. -
Well I don't have a Skyline, but it would affect me as the RB30 would not exist. Therefore the best engine ever to go in a Commodore would not exist, and Holden would've got the 3800 and placed it into the VL before the VN. Oh the humanity. Thank f*** for Nissan.

It wouldn't look so bad, if it didn't look like a 20 year old Japanese girl's car. Pink + V8= FAIL!!!!!!!!!!
