"the performance loss from running an unshielded pod is small" doesnt sound right to me. at the traffic lights with an unshielded pod im sure it heats up quite abit thus creating a loss of power. I remember someone put a probe and got temperature readings which were pretty high. imagine in the aussie summers we have been having. not to sure if it would be a very safe thing.

its a myth that having a atmo blow off valve will cause you to stall or run rich???? Im sure alot of people would disagree with that not to mention the tonnes of atmo bov's cause problem threads. Im not arguing just think saying that its a myth is sending the wrong message.

Yeah if you want sound get a pod installed. It wont be the same kinda noise but it will be noise nonetheless. Crappy thing is you will probs suffer performance wise as the pod will be sucking in hot air so could be a good idea to heatshield or box it but then you may get rid of the sound.

stick to stock bov dude. If you go atmo you will uncover problems such as overfuelling which leads to back fires,stalling and with me i had idle hunt probs and the car actually felt weaker and not so powerful could of been because its running mega rich. As soon as I put the stocker back everything was good.

if your after a standard rebuild, might as well buy a really good condition second hand engine. they are not that expensive.

I had a problem similar to this, wherer the idle would rise to like 1200 + ended up being the TPS.

in my experience with BOV's its kind of a headache, stalling,running rich, and car seems to not perform aswell for some wierd reason. put a pod filter in instead if u want noise

aww I was thinking about running a real good synthetic oil and running nulon lift free to clean up lifters is this a bad thing then is it???

Hi guys someone here told me this oil which is used for diesel engines is good to clean out the engine. any comments? also how long do I use it for?? is it safe? was told to do it as it would be cheaper than my other alternative running redline motor oil. Just want to get rid of a annoying ticking sound which i believe is the lifter.

hey I was speaking to this guy who works for a performance shop and reckons that if you have a fmic cooler and running stock to 10psi then a unshielded pod would not be such a prob cause the FMIC fights against detonation and also gives you a louder induction noise. I thought that a unshielded pod even with a fmic would cause heatsoak and lose power. he told me to go apexi pod cause they filter the best so a shield or cold box would not be neccesary. any comments on this

Drop boost to 10 psi, get a safc from the for sale section and ur sweet. if the car runs good on 9psi but crap on 11psi then meet half way and get the fuel mixtures tuned have a nice day.

Hey Im just wondering ive read about rebuilds but they all differ in terms of what is done. I was wondering what would be needed for a full rebuild on a RB25DET engine basically turning it into a fresh item not some HP monster just back to its original state but maybe a tiny bit stronger. So what would be the shopping list of things that needs to be done to bring a RB25DET back to a healthy brand new state but a little bit improved. Also what would be the average cost of getting this done. Thanks.

Hey all im thinking bout getting a apexi pod and putting in this UAS cold air box. Are they any good??? from what I gather they look pretty good and they seem to block the heat from the engine bay and the pod gets the air from behind the headlight. Does this sound bout right????? Whats everyone think bout them?? I know you can get a tube and get more air from the front bar but just wondering how good they are as is???? Thanks

stock as a rock besides a full exhaust and soon to have an apexi pod. and it only when i turn the car on the first time on a cold start. If i leave the car for like 3-4 hours in the cold and then start again then nothing. wait a day or two without starting then yeh goes funny in cold start for a few seconds then all good again. wierd ay.

Hey just a small annoyance with my cold start. When starting the car up for the first time on the day the idle goes to like 600,700rpm kinda stumbles then just revs out kind of wakes up and then just warms up normally and yeah everything else is fine i know kind of picky but yeah just abit annoying. For the rest of the day turn the car on when cold warms up normal but if its not driven for more than a day or two then yeah does it again could be the cold but also wondering if it may be related to the tps?? It use to play up all the time but got it fixed but wondering if for like the first 5 seconds when cold this is going funny. maybe its something else but yeh what could it be.

With an RB26 u'll be looking at $15,000+ if you want something that will last and still pull out those figures. Someone who I know has R32 gtr had a full rebuild and is a complete beast and has spent about $20k so yeh not a cheap project at all.

I reckon the 91ron or lower is not worth it cause you can cause some damage to your engine plus you will run richer aswell so hence make your chances of them pinning something on you even worse. The silencer would be fine the same cop wont be at the epa station so i believe it would be all good as i know people who have the bolted silencer and never had a prob.
