Motor came out Saturday, got to work stripping the turbo side on Sunday .. She's just about ready to be sent to my mech were it will be stripped down further. The block, head and HKS forgies will be then sent down to Advan in Sydney to get mated.. Change of plans with the forced induction.. Now chasing a 3540 set-up More later -

Separating The Bell Housing Of Box For Engine Removal

Yes as you can see I eliminated the GTR's under-steer flaw with the sacrifice of horse power -
Separating The Bell Housing Of Box For Engine Removal
Tomek replied to Tomek's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
mmmmm... So we dropped the motor down aligned it with the housing and pushed and levered it towards the back of the car... Didn't have to have it on all the way, we slowly got enough clearance with persistence and got to the clip... lol.. sorry couldn't help myself -
Separating The Bell Housing Of Box For Engine Removal
Tomek replied to Tomek's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
OK so We've already made a gap between the motor and the box, and we have read the FAQ about removing the pull type clutch, but because we have already prised the engine apart and removed the slave cylinder, the clutch fork is now solid against the inspection port. My mate has had a look into the inspection port and couldn't see this pin and clip that everyone is talking about. Hes a bit of a gun on mitsus but doesnt know GTRs at all so we are having trouble..... Do we need to put the engine back onto the box and replace the slave and try to disconnect the pin/clip (not that we can see the F#$%in thing) from the clutch fork or is there another way? Purple monkey dishwasher If your reading this Duncan hint hint -
Everything afaik (why im asking) is off the car.. it will go up and go side to side.. doesn't want to budge too much forward thought.. We have an 1 1/2 inch of clearance between motor and housing... trying to loosen the throw-out bearing of the crank im sure there is something a miss... The car is a 93 GTR with the pull type clutch (sure im missing something here) So if anyone has some handy tips, please share.. Probably won't be able to check up on this as much over the next few hours but if your feeling generous or on a cap please call .. 0431 520 274 Thomas.. Worth a try

Apologize for the delay Picture's don't do them justice, had to use my sh%%ty camera as I could not locate my usb cable for the good one.. -
Like I said look around.. My mate just sold his 92 GTR.. get this for 10k to another friend!! What was wrong with it... no front drive-shafts and rwc.. He was sick and tired of time wasters and needed to finance his new car to go down to coast in... So he cut his losses and sold it quickly.. It's funny the c$%^ didn't mention it to me or any other of his mates until it was sold in which case I would have had another run about

Patience... Look around and wait... Cheap well maintained GTR's do come around often, just need to wait for it. I managed 500km to a tank in mine round town

Couldn't agree with you more seeing that my car is off the road and all

Not a very busy day today, feeling lazy.. -Finally removed the right drive shaft after un-bolting nearly every single control/ linkage/ support arm in the suspension -Lowered the box in order to get to the top 2 bell housing bolts, still have NFI how it is done! You can't see jack under there! Clues? 2 more bolts and the engine shall come out -

This whole engine removal process is taking a lot longer then planned. Today I un-bolted the shaft which runs from the transfer towards the diff, also removed the cross member which braces the transmision. Loosened off the lower bell-housing bolts. So this leaves me with the two upper bolts on the bell housing.. Acess to these under the car is un-believably stupid! So im thinking of going from the top in between the back of the motor and fire wall.. Anyone have any in-put on this matter? Front right drive shaft is still not out A poof-teenth more play and it will be out, im sure there is an easy solution to this.. Pics etc tomorrow damn tired -

that is the plan mate.. The car will be definately sorted for the first round of 09, with better brakes, tires and power to boot .. not to mention 50kg lighter should see it pretty competetive.. Seems like Nathan is having trouble sorting the EVO out on rounds, during practise he got down to the high 40's but couldn't back it up when the round started.. Update on car, coming later tonight -

Would be good to see the stag around the track.. Wouldn't of been my car at the khana, I only do sprints... Run low 44's on street tires with a bit more in it, last round took 2nd place in 4wd class... Next time im hoping to cut the time down to the 41 second zone and hopefully win an outright round.. Although there is a lot of work ahead of me to get there. -

Spent a few hours on the car tonight.. Undid the 6 nuts on the passenger drive shaft, Took of both nuts on the tie rods passenger/ driver. Spent a good 20 minutes removing the split pins out of the thread Attempted to remove the passenger drive shaft with the free play around the diff with no success, dissambeled the brake set-up with no improvement. Ran out of time to keep working, so cut it short.. If anyone who is reading this has performed this exercise please offer me some advice -
Unscheduled Event, I Pulled The Motor Out!

Thanks for the in-put guys.. Will look into each point.. Talked to my mechanic today and he told me I should go 20 thou over (86.5), prepped rods with bolts, stick with my crank and grab an N1 oil pump. General tidy up of the head and new valve guides... Block is going to be prepared by "Advan" down in Sydney.. I've found that it's hard to find a set of Jap brand pistons that fit the 20 thou, other then tomei who else makes them? -

DAY 3 Not much happened today, Spent 4 hours trying to organise a crane from a mate with no out-come.. Made a quick phone call to another mate, had a crane in the garage 25 minutes later.. Sunday must have been somewhat a rest/ family day as no one really showed up to work.. hehe Only work I managed to do was -Remove the HKS front pipe -Pointlessly removed the driver's side wheel assembly (rotor, caliper, shaft cover ... may aswell change the pads and lines over now) Damn confusing and hard to remove the front driveshafts Need to get the theory done before I tackle the physical side again. Next few days, I don't see myself doing much work as House removal's will be going on. Cheers Tomek -
Hey Sean.. Hopefully I find out about that drive sometime this week. Definately know where your coming from about drawing the line.. Like I said same situation as you were in a few weeks ago.. Yet to open her and decide what needs to be done all pending on condition.. Cheers Tomek
