oh god i have a hard on from those sound clips. cant wait to get my skyline from japan.... hopefully it ships next week!!
-
That would explain it. So, good alarm dealers and installer around sydney?
-
Hope i can get my stock R33 S2 to look that good after i get it. Shame i dont know wtf i am doing.

Who/where is a good place to purchase and have an alarm and immobiliser installed in Sydney? Preferably south/west? Also, i've been reading a bit about the alarms/immobilisers that people have here, that they automatically go on after 30 seconds of inacitivity. If this is the case... how on earth do you do anything with the car? ie clean it, work on it, leave it somewhere for say a sound system to be installed? Or does it stay off once u turn it off with the remote after it automatically arms? Sorry very much a noob.

Make sure you get it professionally inspected. I reckon its probably safer importing as alot here and thrashed, so just make sure you be picky.

Very nice ride. Can you provide details on tims, tyres, springs/suspension? How does it ride? Smooth or stiff and bumpy?

Nice Shocks For 33 Gtst?
Xizor replied to RedEmblem's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
Do shocks have a bigger impact on the ride smoothness? ie i am after a smoother sort of ride as will frequent bumpy roads. My R33 currently has stock suspension/springs. -

8" rim??? Are we talking width? -
From my experience a good R33 GTST ie grade 4 at auction in japan will cost $16k+ to get here and comply, rego etc. Thats for series 2, serious 1 wil obviously be cheaper.

Soon To Be R33 Owner - A Few Questions!
Xizor replied to Xizor's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I've read good things about the falken 451's on here... ?? Can anyone else comment on the statement there will be bugger all difference in the ride smoothness between 17's and 18's on stock suspension? -

Hi Guys, I'm a newb here and pretty new to cars so very much getting my head around stuff. I drove a member of SAU's R33 series 1 and liked it, decide i want a skyline to have some fun it before i settle down. I have an R33 series 2 coming from japan in the near future (won at auction over the weekend) and am trying to learn as much as possible before then and get a little decisive about my options and what i need. Rims and tyres. Ok this is my situation, i live on an acreage, far from smooth roads i'll tell you that. So i dont want a stiff and bumpy ride. What things have the biggest impact on ride stiffness and smoothness? Is it suspension, tyres, rim size and thus tyre profile? Originally i wanted 18" rims, but then i heard if i got that i'd need to lower it otherwise it would look ridiculously high. And i can't really afford to do that.... or is the stock suspension just crap? I was also told 17" would provide a much smoother ride due to more rubber on the tyres, and would provide better performance aswell. SO....Whats the go fella's? I really am at a loss and need the collective expertise of SAU to guide me in my decision making process.

Concerned About Offsets For R33 Gtst, Any Advice?
Xizor replied to Rogue's topic in Suspension, braking, tyres and drivetrain
So what do you guys recommend for an R33 without modified suspension? 17's the max? What about width? -
So in other words if in your car after 40 seconds of it being off, you have to sit like a mummy otherwise the alarm will go off? What sets it off? Sounds incredibly annoying.

Im currently importing an almost stock R33 series 2 and mine has keyless entry aswell. No mention of there being an alarm system though. I plan to throw a mongoose system in it, i wonder if that will take over the keyless entry feature?

Soon To Be R33 Owner - A Few Questions!
Xizor replied to Xizor's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Yeah im in Sydney. Hope the coppers leave me alone then. yeah 18's seem common, although where i live the roads are not very smooth, and i dont want to have to change suspension... so are 17's the better option? Do they still look sweet or too small? -

Wow arent i popular with the responses! Bit of a reality check now.... if i get 18's, i'll need to change suspension, wont i? So are 17's the better option? Do they still look good on a skyline, not goo small? Tyres is also something i am extremely ignorant about. I dont want to spend a shitload, but i want something decent. I've had a look on the forums here and it appears the Falken 451's are given a pertty decent wrap? And the Toyo T1R? What are ball park figures i'd be looking at to get these, or are there some more mid range options that still provide good performance? I'm not into racing, but i do want to enjoy the vehicle. -
Hey guys!! I am importing an R33 series 2 Skyline, silver. Its pretty much stock except for an exhaust system. Low kms, grade 4. Looks nice. Now, i am not very knowledgable or experienced with cars. Part of the reason why i wanted to get a skyline is because i drove a mates series 1 and liked it, and im 24... i wanna have a bit of fun before i become a corolla driver or whatever, and with a skyline it gives me a great oppurtunity to learn a bit about cars. Now once i get the vehicle i want to put in a pod filter. Is this legal? And if so, which ones are legal? I plan to have it exposed but are there any options to channel/direct cooler air too it without getting a box? i've heard on hot days having a pod filter can be problematic... Rims... are 18's a good size for the skyline? I want a cruisy ride, not something overly stiff and bumpy. And what tyre package/combo should i be looking at for it? As i said before, i am really not even at amatuer level, so all information i learn from SAU is going to be invaluable! Tyres is something i am incredibly clueless about, but i have heard falken are quite common? Thank you!

R33, R34 CAI box & radiator panel
Xizor replied to Maxx's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
Yeah i wouldnt imagine there would be much of a performance diff... although you would think the piped air to the box would have to be superior (ie directly fed and cooler) to just having the pod exposed? Especially on warm days... Correct? What did you have before you got the box? Sorry i am quite new to all this, about to own my first car an r33 series 2.
