you can't use a pot as easily as that as the AWD signal is a pulse which can only be turned on or off using a fuse/switch. there's a dongle thing you can buy (think duncan sold em) that uses a pot to vary the frequency and thereby adjust the "ratio" though.

for starters the GTS4 has a GTSt's heavy bonnet, guards and boot. Swap em for GTR items and there's a good enough weight saving. The diff is pretty pisspoor compared to a GTR. Viscous LSD's suck. Good diff ratio's though... unless you own an auto GTS4, in which case you'd have the worst diff ratio of the field. Its a GTSt that was made for going to the snow and pulling your boat around. Its not the next step up from a GTSt to a GTR. I own one because they're so much fun to mod... you get to play with ATTESA, ABS, HICAS (if you don't rip it out) and still run a single turbo that's very daily drivable. The ECU is virtually identical to a GTSt, so modding that is piss easy (try doin that on a stagea). You can get parts from GTRs (suspension, drivetrain) and GTSt's (turbo's, bodykits etc). To me that's exactly what I like in a skyline... "tinkerability".

so for question number 2... Theoretically the clutch and flywheel need to be balanced so that its not too heavy as a whole or too light that the flywheel degrades. when you guys put the twinny in did you get the matching flywheel from OS Giken or did you get a standard flywheel lightened or a lighter flywheel from another manufacturer?

its factory equipped to read true on 205/55R16 88V tyres, so you shouldn't see any difference in speed due to the tyres. R32's do run a speedo cable to the cluster, and this can sometimes get sticky (ie the steel cable strands can seperate if bent and catch on the sleeve, causing it to spike and in general read wrong). GPS speedo checking or dyno speed checking is probably the way to make sure if there's a variance in speed. Try with another cluster first as that's easiest to swap, then try with another speedo cable if you can't make it go away with a different cluster.

i've had insurance with both just cars and shannons. The latter has my business still... and now everyone else in my family. They're just simply sooo much easier to deal with, hassle free when it comes to choise of repairer etc. They don't shaft you with nominated repairers etc. You don't even need to send in a second quote when you claim. Here's how I've experienced just cars: Accident... not your fault Call to make claim... get treated like petty criminal... Get quote from TWO repairers Call them with quotes, have them nominate a repairer that's authorised by them Take car to repairer, wait a couple of weeks for assessor to come out. Pay an exorbitant excess Hope that the recommended repairer is half decent and dosen't give you back a car with runs in the paint. Get your premium jacked up, even if it isn't your fault. Here's how it works with shannons: Accident... not your fault Call to make claim, given claim number and told to get a quote from repairer of choice Repairer of choice calls shannons with estimated cost (no need for an official quotation, just a value over the phone will do) Assessor is sent out within the week, and you're given a mobile number to contact him on In my case, my excess is only $300 The repairer you choose is pretty much always someone you trust to do a good job Plus they allow for a windscreen change every year... comes in handy when you do frequent trips back and forth from melbourne to sydney.

sunshine steve you have a poopra? my condolences (on your accident, not the fact that you own a poopra).

Instead of tapping the fuse for a switch as most people do, you can also tap the wire inside the cabin near the ECU. ATM I've got a switch next to my hazard that I can flick to choose to go to RWD. It dosen't harm the gearbox in short doses as the R32 transfer is hydraulic, and not partially engaged like the later models. This means that the R32 ATTESA is a lot laggier, but hey, thems the breaks. I tend not to leave it in RWD mode as ATTESA is a beautiful thing when driving normally (ie not sideways or on a drag strip etc). I'm currently playing around using a jaycar digital pulse modulator (also about $50) to vary the signals sent to the ATTESA computer so I can fine tune how it reacts, and also do a RWD->AWD->RWD transition without having to stop the car or lose ABS... without resorting to a potentiometer style knob or a ATTESA interceptor that costs an arm and a leg.

Can I Import A Micra?
funkymonkey replied to West's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
lol winkeh, i doubt they'd put a micra cup car into production. why not just buy a suzuki swift? same shit, different stain. -
So I've been given the opportunity to put in an OS Giken Twin Plate clutch in my R32 GTS4. I'm making about 200awkw, so nothing spectacular power wise. I'm getting it cheap so its almost worthwhile considering. What I want to know is that other than strong muscular pain in the leg that it causes while shifting, is it hard to use in a daily driver? Do any of you use it in a daily?

I used "ben" as your name blindsay... I might need your full name if it bounces. -
Not for the faint-hearted. This bodykit will flare your R32 out by about 3 inches on either side. You'll need 10" and 11" wide wheels MINIMUM front and back respectively to fill out the guards. A mould has been taken off this bodykit, and shoddy quality copies are being sold by some shops in melbourne. This kit is the genuine article the mould was taken off, and is the ONLY genuine one in Australia. Copies are being sold in the $3500's. Features that are better than the copies: When you hold the kit up to the light you won't see through it. f**k knows how people can sell bodykits that have one layer of fibreglass and stay in business. The genuine item is very thick and solid, so you don't have to worry too much about someone breaking your kit by leaning on it. It will fit, first go... you won't have to pissfart around with it for months to get it to align with your guard or the curve of the bonnet etc. It only costs $3200 plus shipping if you're outside of the melbourne metro area. It has 9 pieces. Copies only have 8 because I forgot to give the mould maker one piece. Genuine kits don't result in this: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=166921 As for pics, I'll have pics of the bodykit on tuesday, but for now, here's a pic of Adam's track car with the first copy that was made you can see from the first pic, how much wider than factory the guards are. Those are standard wheels on the car, sitting a good 3 inches or more in. Now THAT is widebody... none of this pansy ass "look at me I have a 20mm flare on the side of my car, so its a widebody". GTFO! and here's the BN Sports website http://www.bn-sports.co.jp/2door/32_skyline_blister.html and pics: This is an unpainted, unmodified, never installed kit, virtually brand new. You couldn't get it cheaper even if you ordered direct from Japan. PM, email or phone 0430534956 if you're interested.

Or I can send you the items on tuesday when I'm in melbourne, whichever you prefer. hootchy, I'll transfer the $248 refund if you can PM me your bank details... unless you want a money order still, I'd prefer to just do the transfer electronically. Void, I've got the rest of your stuff in melbourne (along with aaron's) I'll send them to you when I get back there on tuesday. Should be just waiting on a Boost Controller right? blindsay... you have $99 in your account now... transaction confirmation number is N082477903308 from Commbank. Andi... you have $102 in your account, your transaction confirmation number is N082477903490 Have I missed out on anyone? again guys, sorry for the delays, I've been tryin to sort out a refund from jaycar. I'm just gonna bite the bullet and pay out of my own pocket and see if I can ebay the items I have or something. Why Can't We Have The Glanza!
funkymonkey replied to West's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
EP82 halfcuts are about 4k for everything you need. the EP82 and EP91 chassis' are the same so the older parts should bolt straight up... but apparently the EP91 turbo's are a lil faster. -

hmmm if it'll make you feel better, and I think I've told kristian (iron chef) this too... there is a way around getting fast altezza's. See in japan they sold the altezza in a hatchback/wagon, sorta like a impreza wagon, or an evo wagon. This car actually meets the criteria for the SEVS list, cos it meets power to weight, and has a unique silhouette. I dunno if they came with a BEAMS engine, but I'm fairly sure they came in a turbo (i'll have to check the docs)... think from memory they're all 4WD too. Although given the choice between a Caldina and an Altezza Wagon... hmmm. IS200's are still a rich man's corolla. There's a running joke in the curry community that a poor curry dad drives a camry (a rich dad would drive a "lexus" ES300), and his son drives a corolla, then when his son gets on a 40k+ salary he buys an IS200, thus still keeping the tradition.
