you can save money by buying a 1988 manual RB20DET ceffy, or better yet, one that already has everything you want already done. We've got some for a couple of guys now... relatively cheap too, by avoiding auctions and yahoo, and instead buying from wholesale yards and dealerships in japan. You're spot on with customer costs. Even with a dirt cheap car the taxes n fees start adding up. If you get a RB20DET cef, RB20DET -> RB25DET conversion is so easy... plus you have better brakes and suspension from the get go, rather than upgradeing the NA ones to the turbo equivalents. Even easier would be to wait for a nicely modified RB25DET ceffy to come up. For example: To land an average 88 cef with minor mods would cost you about $9000 You can get one with an RB25DET or an SR20DET conversion for about $12000 to $13000 landed. Now that's money you would spend on a new engine, labour etc anyways. So if you think about it, you're saving yourself the hassle, the downtime and the screwing around. Here's a few we've sold as examples, pay attention to the prices... http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/0346 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/0811 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/1097 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/1849 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/2449 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/2503 http://www.j-spec.com.au/list/3067 complying a cef with an RB25 shouldn't be an issue as they came with RB25 (DE... but the compliancers usually don't care) as a standard option. SR20's can be a lil tricky to comply. That said demand for RB25 and SR20 cefs are pretty high, so expect to spend a few more months looking for one compared to RB20DET ones.

SAu Stagea Section Family Tree
funkymonkey replied to 3intheBack's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
sif you bunch of horse and wagon drivers would ever be the product of my glorious seed. -
put it this way... we bought an R32 for a customer for 100yen that's a $1.50 in australian money. By the time it landed it cost him $5501.50, then he had to pay for compliance etc. It makes bugger all difference in the end whether you get a car for free, or for $1000. Spend wisely to start with, and you'll need to take less panadols down the track.

we've got the original as the company track car... built by kakimoto (not the copy by skyline imports)... the kit's meant for a GTSt, but can be adapted onto a GTR. The original uses rear castor to make the wheelbase of the car longer than standard (for race use). The copy was remoulded so the wheels could sit in the factory position without rubbing on the kit. You'll need 10.5" wide rims for the front and 13" wide for the rears to fill out the guards. Expect to pay about 5k for having the kit fitted, as if you want to have it done properly you'll need to modify the body so the wheels don't rub, and have the inner guard cut etc. Also blending the rear fender skins into the body requires you to take the original body back to metal, and bonding the fibreglass to it, or risk having it crack in the heat with age. here's ours... To my knowledge none of the skyline imports built ones have the Kakimoto wing (which everyone thinks is rice, until you actually sit in the car and realise that you can't see the wing through the back, and is fully adjustable carbon). There's also a carbon splitter for the front, which we've removed because it seems to collect everything on the ground. Also Kakimoto seems to refuse to sell the widebody sized rims to the public, unless you actually have the kit fitted by them.

Not exactly touge (too-gay hehehe), but good footage of some fun in a cef and some corollas.

looks like an R32 GTS4 enginebay transplanted into a ceffy. main difference looking from the top is the factory standard ABS.

I don't take care of site sponsorship or payment, so I can't help you with that. You can email [email protected] and [email protected] to try and expediate the matter. As for whoever's adviced you to advertise or solicit your business in any section till then, I'm afraid that was bad advice. Please refrain from doing so until your sponsorship status has been approved. Feel free to forward any PM you have relating to the matter.

did you notice the RB26 silvia had a standard side mount intercooler in some shots (like the one where they go out the back of the shop and see the wreck) and an FMIC in others (at the start and even when they open the bonnet at the end)? also... you guys have to check this shit out. Sometimes I wish I was allowed to legally perform an act of god and cleanse the world of stupid, dumb, ricer kids. -
Being A Trader
funkymonkey replied to marz13's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
Some of you guys who want to become traders but are still waiting to be approved seem to have taken matters into your own hands and have started spamming the forum with whatever the hell you peddle. As we've said before, you are ONLY allowed to post items for sale/advertise business activities once you are an approved trader. If you're not then you are breaking the rules. Pushing the boundaries and testing our patience as moderators won't help you become a trader any sooner. It only takes us 2 mouse clicks to remove your account and every single one of your posts and PMs. Please keep that in mind before spamming and stating "we're gonna advertise anyway until someone authorises us" as an excuse. -
sell car. buy a GTSt. saves you having to buy lots of panadol and undergoing slow and painful wallet weight reduction.
-
just keep in mind that GXi's and GTE's have different rear members, smaller drum brakes, smaller axles, and different diff's to regular R32's (GTS and GTSt's).

hmm mods can't make new sections... that's only something I can do. If you guys can come up with a good skeleton structure for the section then I'll implement it. I'm liking the reader's ride section rather than a thread... got sick of deleting posts from people asking questions and commenting on other people's cars. Dunno about the parts bin section though... the stagea guys have one and its the pits.

Cefirosaustralia.com Stickers?
funkymonkey replied to BenA31's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
are you gettin out of the cef community? you know the consequences for leaving the family right? *strokes white cat* yeah go ahead n migrate it, I'll add it to a sticky or something... soon. I'm moving to Syd tomorrow (well moving all my Drift Heaven and Option mags and furniture and clothes anyways). -
try tyre breaking the seal on the rim due to low pressure causing me to spin out of control and almost up the hill. No damage to car, or rim, and the tyre didn't come off the rim either, so all we had to do was re-inflate it till it popped back onto the seal and back onto the track
