  1. The kit is a Aeromaster Type 1 (which is remarkably similar to a vertex, but not quite). Front back n sides. I bought the original from Japan, which Aresspeed got off me to copy. Ended up keeping it for well over a year and finally fitted my original onto some demo car of theirs and gave me two copies for my trouble. Apparently they're bankrupt now, so not much I can do about it.
  2. if you insist
  3. Winding odo's back is prolific around the world, not just Japan. You've gotta be as diligent about it when buying a car locally as well as overseas. If you are buying a car from Japan, see if your broker/exporter/buyer/whoever can organise a inspection, and high res photos of the car prior to finalising the purchase. There are also companies in Japan that can carry out odo checks for importers in other countries. They test cars to see if they've been tampered with etc. If the car is from a private seller or a car dealer then usually simply mentioning that you are sending someone to check the legitimacy of the odo is enough to send em packing if they've wound it back. There's nothing wrong with high km cars, as long as they're well maintained, sometimes they're even better than a car that's hardly ever been used and serviced rarely.
  4. haha no... I think this sunday might be a little too festive for a meetup. maybe next month.
  5. j'accuse insider trading... edit: whoops wrong james congrats to all! roflmao at ash getting towing... lol surely he's already racked up enough frequent-towing points for a free tow by now.
  6. pity the lada can't drive the same distance without breaking down or losing parts.
  7. Although we got hopelessly lost, we still managed not to come last. There were only two grandpa mobiles there though, one was someonestolecc's SR20DET powered beast and the other my old man's RB20DET auto (which sported a new air filter for the day as its only mod). Pics:
  8. some reading from NZ, where imports... well there's nothing BUT imports http://www.odocheck.co.nz/digital.htm
  9. you can use software used to calibrate Nissan speedo's to tamper with the digital odo's. I doubt anyone in Australia's that resourceful to do it, but I'd expect it to be pretty easy in Japan. That said the newer Nissans actually have a ECU to cluster check and tamper deterrant software embedded into the odo driver. Nissan electronic engineers have thousands of dollars at their disposal to develop these, which is quite a lot more than your average used car salesman. You have to be a complete nuffer these days to go by odo readings and not actual inspections of an import.
  10. Symptom 1 is a sign of a bad manual driver the rest are just signs of age. Most of which are easily fixable. Any mechanic/auto elec should be able to sort out the door. 10k is not a bad price for a GTS4 that came in under the old CPA scheme, and isn't on the verge of a coronary like some of the 15 yr old ones that people pick up cheap to make money on. What's the rest of the car like, interior, panels etc? rust? bends, dints, dents, scratches?
  11. my old man's insured with shannons for his cef. $600 per year or something stupidly low like that for full comprehensive.
  12. the application was purely as an example. No one runs RB20DE's in improved production class, due to the power to weight disadvantages. There are a couple of N/A silvias being built up for it though.
  13. haha how l33t am I... number 256... the epitomy of digital representation of a numerical value.
  14. they all do sam, but if you can forgo the antenna you can get a local windscreen specialist to fit one for around $500.
  15. they're 7" wide. offset is -5.
  16. you can land and comply S1 stageas for 12k these days.
  17. spotted this little beast (the stag) in the middle of nowhere at a supercheap auto near Taree I think.... me and a couple of mates drove my R32 GTS up from melbourne to the gold coast to drop it off (yes the racing stripes are masking tape).
  18. SK I was told that it only applied to brand new parts/items. Secondhand goods aren't exempt from that are they?
  19. SEVS's compliance is done to a national standard, so regardless of where its complied the registration process in NSW is the same.
  20. If I get time I'll scan up the article on the Tomei built R33 RB25DE with the hex throttle treatment that beats GTR's and revs happily to 10,000 RPM. Although that engine had a lot of work put into strengthened internals too. One of the reasons people do this is because of the different racing classes. For example in Australia, a R32 RB20DE GTS is eligible in the 2.0L production class racing. If you had a RB20DET GTSt it you get a 1.6x penalty, making your estimated capacity 3.2L and meaning you'll have to compete with V8's, GTR's and other larger capacity cars where you'll have no advantage. If you had a high revving RB20DE though, you'd be king of the 2.0L class (well close to... an S2000 would still kick your arse).
  21. sweet will give him a call after christmas. Hope he's not busy in the first week of the new year.
  22. it was santa claus in disguise checking to see if you've been good or bad.
  23. sweet... more pics of you getting blind drunk with the R31 House crew?
