what I mean is, due to the lack of a domestic production market in NZ, cars that we regard as special imports in Australia aren't that special in NZ. Stageas here are rare and if you own one, you treat it like a newborn child. In NZ a stagea is just another station wagon, like the Mitsubishi Legnum and the Toyota Caldina etc. As such, its usually put through the same sort of everyday life that an aussie would put a Holden Commodore wagon through. There are the good examples around, and ones owned by enthusiasts, but still, it'd work out much cheaper to import one from Japan, than from NZ, as the same impot laws apply regardless of source. The only way you can get a personal import into australia from NZ and "dodgy one in" is by providing paperwork/evidence that you are permanently moving here. The loophole was exploited a while ago, and DOTARS clamped down on imports through NZ as a result. So if your friend already lives here, he cn't bring one into the country and if he's just a visitor, then he's not eligible.

checked out a few of the Stagea's in NZ, most of them are clapped out and run down with high mileage. The only decent ones worth buying are too expensive, or are modified (ie showcar style). Stageas in NZ is like a commodore wagon here. Plus you'll pay tax twice on the car (once for when it came into NZ, and once when it comes into Australia). Also its cheaper to ship a car from Japan, than it is from NZ... wierd as that sounds. You can land Stageas from Japan from $11,000 including compliance, totally legitimately. No point trying to run circles around the law when its that straight forward.

local RTA is the only people that can answer that question 100%. Unless the extractors are all bling bling, you'll never get picked up on them by the cops anyways. You have a better chance of being picked up for a louder exhaust than aftermarket extractors, so make sure your exhaust is quiet (mufflers/resonators) and you should fly under the radar.

cost us $15 something for movies, plus $15 for food, plus fuel.

The import part into Australia is pretty straight forward. Most guys who stay in japan for over a year, buy a car in Japan that you can't otherwise buy in australia (like a Legnum VR4, Altezza wagon etc), or is highly modified. I think what akeenan's primary concern right now isn't to import the car into Australia, but the costs of buying and owning a car and registering it in Japan.

when subscribing to a topic you have the following options: No Email Notification This option will not send out any email notification but will retain the topic or forum in your subscriptions panel. Delayed Emailed Notification This option will send out a notification if a new topic or reply has been made and you're not active on the board. Immediate Email Notification This option will send out a notification immediately after a new topic or reply has been made regardless of your activity. Daily Email Digest This option will send out a daily digest showing all new replies or topics for that day Weekly Email Digest This option will send out a weekly digest showing all new replies or topics for that week You can choose which of these it defaults to under your "Email Settings" in your control panel. At this moment in time, its one notification per reply, hopefully once I have the forum scripting sorted out I can make it collate replies. also, I've made an alteration to the forum scripts that sends the thread title n the notification emails you recieve. I'm still testing it so any feedback is appreciated, esp ones where something's wrong. please post about it here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...showtopic=96418 -
that's exactly right GFXman, the postcount was removed because it made things easier for postwhores to keep tabs on how they were doing against other postwhores. You can still check the postcount by going into your profile, if you really want to see what it is. As for the warn meter, all users have this, but you can only see your own meter. Only moderators can see all users' warn meters. All moderators are able to add and to remove to your warn gauge, and depending on what you o they can use it to place you under review (ie all your posts have to be approved by a mod prior to appearing on the forum), or suspend your account (make you unable to post of a period of time).

aw man, I just finished getting the Black Edition hoping they'll have a Skyline... bah humbug.
-
you can't put aftermarket extractors and leave the cat and exhaust alone... that's just a waste of time and effort. However you can change the cat and exhaust and leave the extractors alone and still get some performance gains. if that makes sense.

I just finished writing a new mod to the emailing script that puts more info int he subject of the emails that are auto generated by the forum. It should allow you guys to set up your email sorting rules better etc. It should also affect those of you who are subscribed to entireforums, and people with daily and weekly digests. I would appreciate any feedback on the mods, and also if you get any erroneous email subjects/messages as a result. Cheers, Shan

Sau E-newsletter
funkymonkey replied to Mr-Toy33's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
SAU VIC issues newsletters every months. They are available for download here: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...hp?dlcategory=1 As has been proven, SAU VIC > SAU NSW & SAU QLD -
If its too big, yes, you will lose power as you still need some decent backpressure on N/A's. However there's also no point fitting a high flow cat back exhaust when your extractors don't flow for shit. Your system's only as good as its smallest bottleneck.

you gotta keep in mind that the GTR is just a 4 door family sedan cut down to two doors with a big engine... sound familiar? Think Monaro.
