agreed, I'm very happy with my D90, as it does exactly what I need it for. I bought the base only and went with a couple of fast lenses rather than go for the kit ones, but the base is sturdy, has lots of accessories, is pro enough to keep me interested, and simple enough to be easy to use. I'm still discovering new techniques and features on it, and I've had it for a year now.
