  1. I think when buying a GTR like any car you have to take the car to a mech that knows these performance cars inside out, ie a specialised performace shop. Before I bought mine I made sure I checked the compression of the engine, did a leak down test and look for all the general tell tails that the car has or has not had a hard life. Worn boot hard gearstick worn steering wheel worn gear knob etc etc but also take into consideration these items can be easily changed. Also a big must is to but it up on a hoist and check for rust, chas rails, suspension rubbers, cv boots etc etc.... also make sure no weird noises from g/box. The old crap house saying of "you get what you pay for" is right unless you get some shonky as bastard trying to sell a piece of crap that his try to gay up with chrome crap. But for my money, I still believe that a GTR is best bang for buck. Just use common sense when buying the car and ask as many relevant questions you can to help you make an imformed decision whether or not the particular car you are looking at is more going more problematic then other that you have seen on your journey to find you car. These are around 17 years old now, so expect problems like alot of other cars, but what I have found is the build quality is much better then alot of locally produced cars. And yes GTR's can be expensive. If you can't afford the maintenance, or petrol or insurance and you have to worry about it then maybe consider a corolla:)
  2. My Jim Berry clutch is great. Although it does shutter abit when trying to feather the clutch when parking on my drive way which as an incline. Could be just me.... Other wise bites like a MOFO.... Also does a clutch need readjustment after ex amount of k's to allow for wear...... clutch travel etc... cheers rob
  3. LOL falls apart What stich9 said makes alot of sense, alot easier to manage.... maybe a small bunch of people rather then going all out.... close mates etc... But with all the posts so far there is alot to digest. Its all good, be it negative or positive. Open discussion allows for all possibilities to be explored.
  4. Anyways could anyone who knows anyone who might be interested in an idea like this please get in contact with me.....i want to see what kind of numbers we could get together..... if we cant get enough from skyline owners we may look at joining forces and getting numbers through perth-wrx be looking at a member ship fee of about 20-50 a month all tools and hoist access available we would look at a website system for the roster of access into the bays and have something like this 4 long term bays for project vehicles 8 medium bays (two weeks) 10 short stay bays....2 emergency bays full camera security lock up storage space insurance just some random ideas....
  5. The difference is that a commercial workshop needs to get a car out of the door as fast as possible, and with this there in lies the true difference between a commercial workshop and an membership one. Best analgy I can think of is shannons car insurance and RAC.
  6. Not really on talking terms with him. Also I think it would be a natural conflict of intrest, don't you think? ....... The last thing i want is thread to go in the wrong direction. All I want to know is if its remotely possible to do this. Workshop for skyline owners by skyline owners. Simple as that...
  7. Well if we are on the page, a few guys run a business out of it. Its directly across from HD. Its deff a business, they do wrxs and what not. Nic is the main guy there , ex mech from speedworks. I have been there twice, thats all I can say.
  8. Across the road is a business run by an ex employee from speedworks. Nic is the guys name. Unless you mean somone else.... These guys charge money for their services
  9. Firstly I knew SAUWA would not be affilliated with something like this. There would have to alot to be taken into consideration. As Mr Dan has kindly pointed out all the imediate pit falls there quite alot of positives. I tend to look at things holistic, maybe my take on things are too positive, Or I have less at sake then SAUWA but at anycase everyone is entitled to their opinion. Its by no means an easy feat. Of course anyone who is a member would sign a disclaimer for injuries and what not... I guess it would be a long term project and extensive planning would be required. Like I said " I guess its not for the faint hearted" its for the passionate skyline owners
  10. I'm not saying it would be easy, but it would take some strategic planning and deff foresight. Its good just to put it out there and see what happens. Never under estimate a bunch of passionate skyline owners
  11. After reading so many threads on indivduals embarking on restorations and Hybrid engine building projects to their pride and joy I can't help but notice how enthusatic alot of other passionate skyline owners become and are inspired by reading these threads. Alot of skyline owners want to do this work to their cars, but generally lack the place, the tools or the right specialist equipment to do it. I think this post is a waste a time and I think alot of people will end up "thread craping" it, esp because I think perth people "me included" are very very slow to adapt to new idea's or thoughts, esp something so left wing as this. But my random passing thought was a garage or a industrial space ran by members for members "club house" for those who are truley passionate about their skylines and would love a place to met and fix their cars. I mean bikies can do it:) I'm sure a boat load of Savvy Liner owners could. Everyone has some form of contacts, knowledge, specialsed equipment etc etc if you pull it together it can become a complete resource centre. Or run it like a company where you float shares in it "IPO" for the sole purpose of capital raising and run it aligned to a strict business plan and charter. Anyways thought I would just see for the hell of it the respose it would get. But imagine a place where a 4 post hoist was avalible!!! can you imagine the amount of shitty ass time spent under a car that would save not to mention comfortablity factor. + 1

  18. Well after my exp with the WA Police Service its has an aka of the "Brotherhood" c**t rag.
  19. You dumb ass's If you think its that sus, you should set the f**ker up and atleast theres atleast one crim that will think twice about f**king with a skyline. Do what the "brotherhood" always do as standard practice. One word " ENTRAPMENT" Owell I guess they will go do it the old fashion way huh...
  20. Now this is what you call a nismo exhaust This exhaust is as rare as f**k. Good luck will sale bro. BTW nice exhaust mate.
  21. This Thread is a prime example of why each skyline state needs a fight club meet every 1/4 or in laymens terms every three months. So everyone who goes on the cruise to enjoy their cars and other peoples cars also has an option at the end of the cruise to enter "The Ring Of Internet Heros". So at the last meet point theres a ring set up and who ever has gripes or what not deals with it once and for all. The loser gets to shut the f**k up. Thus ending the needless (countless) communications and clogging up SAU forums. So put down your keyboards and raise ya fist's and do it the old fashion way. +1
  22. Just a quick question. I have searched other threads but nothing concrete on whether it would be ok to run the following rim and tyes on my R32 GTR? : Rims 17 X 9.5 12+ offset Tyres 255 / 40 / 17 Will they fit on my R32 GTR without issues? anyone have or had simular setup? cheers rob
  23. I'm getting a bare metal respray on my 32 and I have had 3 quotes ranging from 11500 to 12000. Thats becuase of the nature of the repairs that have to be done. All the glass has to come out. So after three quotes its pretty much the industry pricing for the level of work my car requires, and it's a bare metal respray which is more expensive then just a normal spray job. I guess it depends on what your car is like. I think its just a case of each car is individual and needs different levels of attention. Hope to to see the pics when your done. What colour you going for? Hey richard did you go for stock Nissan G.M.G or did you vary it? as in more pearl etc.....? cheers rob
  24. how much and where?
