  1. Just came back from a run from the ACT to Sydney and back over the weekend (only the 2nd time in 2 and a bit years). Only engine mods are 3" Split Dump, 3" all the way through a hi flow Cat, two pass through mufflers and a high flow air filter. Oh, plus my connection with the battery terminals failed the other day whilst travelling at 80k's an hour (completely dead, no power at ALL, engine off, a long downhill run ahead - another story) which nicely reset the ECU after I had just had it serviced. It just required a quick fix of the battery terminal. We headed up the road towards Sydney on the saturday. I filled up at Sutton Forrest, stopped at Sutherland, next day through to the North Shore, back through Sutherland, up towards Picton, back on the Freeway towards Canberra and home (love those freeway on ramps ;-> ). Managed to make it all the way home to my local servo, where I filled up. It was on the Orange light for a while, and took exactly 60 Litres to top up. 520k's. Very happy with that. Got to get the audio system replaced though, although the sweet sound of the turbo partly on boost at the occasional cruise at around 3,200k's was a beautiful thing.
  2. I have to admit to being an Auto fan. My wife does a fair bit of driving in it and she loves the ease of the auto. When I take it out for a spin, I enjoy having the option of tiptronic. What I think is best is using the gearstick to change gears in tiptronic mode. The buttons on the steering wheel are great too, but for me, I like clicking through the gears when giving it some hammer. The long spread between the 4 gears is a good feature too. You can go anywhere from 10k's to 130k's in second and its handy to get some engine braking when going down hills. Speaking of which, I am heading down the coast this weekend for a bit of fun with the family. Going down towards Macquarie Pass, so looking forward to using the tiptronic through the twisties.
  3. The compliancers have to put on new brake pads by law. Surely they must have a local supplier for this task. How could we find out?
  4. Congrats on your new purchase. I have a White S2 Dayz . I still have the QLD rego on it but I live in Canberra also. I will give you a wave if I see you ;-)
  5. Mine has colour coded white trim. Think it was done by Dayz as original. I have not seen many others that have this so far.
  6. Spotted a nice silver Series 2 driving along near Aspendale in Melbourne on the 2nd.
  7. 42, Wife & 2 Kids (god, where have the good times gone!) Stag is very versatile, used for footies & training gear, trips to Bunnings for plants, rocks for the japanese garden, and scaring the shit out of scummydore drivers!
  8. Further update. Filled up with Mobil premium this time, currently on 460k's on the tank, and the light hasnt come on yet! Maybe there is something to my theory after all LOL!
  9. Thanks Brycey, Yeah, thats what I thought. I saw a white Stag on this forum somewhere with them, but cant seem to find it again. I would like to have it with a "carbon fibre" look. I did use the currency translater and it worked out to around $250. It would pay off just on stopping the scraping of the front spoiler.
  10. Hi Guys, I would like to put a front lip on my Stagea. I reckon it would look great on my Dayz body kit, and would be a practical item for parking etc. I dont have much experience in buying from Japan direct (especially the language). Is there somewhere here I could get one? Here is the site I found in JP. http://parts.co.jp/product_detail.php?strings=AA74-026008 Cheers
  11. Your Series 2 will only have 2 positions - normal and snow. The snow ensures that you take off at a high gear with plenty of slippage from the Auto. You will learn pretty quickly that you just leave it at normal and will never touch it again, until your kids have pushed the button whilst playing in the car and you wonder why its not very responsive! enjoy your new ride and welcome to the crew.
  12. Yep, and I've got one of each. The XR6T has more mid range torque and beautiful suspension and ride quality, but I enjoy the extra spread of revs, the practicality and the "WTF is that" reaction that the Stagea provides.
  13. Came up behind Tee's RS4 S on the way to work this morning. We cruised along together for a while. His car looks hot with the new wheels. It was a real buzz with two White, Dayz equipped Series 2's cruising along.
  14. What a great pick up & amazing condition!! You will no doubt enjoy cruising in that rare beast.
  15. Just guaging interest at the moment. When we get say 3-5 takers, I will put it in the events thread.
  16. Beauty Leshy, thats one at least. I appreciate that there are a few guys a fair bit further north, but maybe we can organise a return trip out to the Wollombi pub on another weekend! My brother in law lives on the Central Coast, so thats a future possibility.
  17. Oh well, not that much immediate interest. No worries, I will leave the thread here in case anyone wants to do it, and I have a spare weekend.
  18. Here is a map of the area to acquaint yourselves.
  19. I would be interested in the level of interest in doing a trip down kangaroo valley & a cruise back up to Wollongong before heading up Macquarie pass? It is pure Stagea country, with smooth flowing corners, awesome scenery and twisty uphill/downhill bits. We could meet around 10am in the morning at Moss Vale (A saturday or Sunday, whichever is the most popular), cruise down through Kangaroo Valley, maybe have a lunch in Nowra & check out each others rides, then we could make our way back via a few different routes (macquarie pass, or back up through kangaroo valley if you like). So.....anyone interested in such a cruise in the next couple of months?
  20. I havent had any problems whatsoever with the solenoid mod. The car runs great, and taps into the torque a bit earlier because of the slightly higher boost. I have a split dump pipe, full 3" highflow exhaust with hi-flo Cat as the only mod. I only use Premium unleaded to refill & use Mobil 1 synthetic oil. In relation to solenoid performance, I cant see a problem there. The solenoid is an electrical component with no moving parts, and is not likely to suffer from "wear & tear". I do ensure that I stay off the noise pedal when the Stag is cold, but that is actually easier now that boost comes on quicker. In relation to highway performance, I would consider it an advantage. For overtaking, you have the boost in the optimum range earlier in the revs, and its not like the car is sitting on full boost at 2,500 - 2,700 revs and cruising. Only when you put the foot down does the turbo spool up a bit quicker. In any case, its not like I am getting into the unsafe/unreliable range of the ceramic turbo, as it never goes past 9psi in any case. I am halfway through the tank, & will post up results soon.
  21. Thats exactly the economy my series 2 gets. I earthed the boost solenoid last week, so am interested in how that affects economy. I have a theory (untested) that having higher boost coming on early will assist in moving the weight of the Stag up to cruising speeds easier, so therefore the fuel consumption my even out, or even be slightly better. I will let you know how it goes. It certainly helps the driveability, and means I dont have to sink the right foot as hard as before. I havent done a trip in the car since getting it a year ago. I was hoping to come up for the skyline show & shine, but had to miss that in favour of the rugby test. I would love to do a tour (if anyone is interested) from Canberra to Moss Vale & meet up with some of the Sydney guys - then drive down through macquarie pass to Wolllongong, down the coast to Nowra, then up Kangaroo Valley, back to Moss Vale then farewell each other at the highway. I will put up a separate post to see how much interest there is. There are some fantastic roads for the Stag to enjoy there.
  22. I've bought a new Head Unit DVD/Cd Player. I still have the original Pioneer Jap gear in there. The new head unit has a built in NTSC/PAL selector for output. I was wondering whether this would work if I hooked it up to the existing screen (I assume its an NTSC Screen). Any ideas?
