  1. Thanks for your feedback guys, guess I will just let it do its stuff, unless I am driving through a couple of inches of snow.
  2. Had a near full tank through this week. With the old exhaust, I would get 320km per tank (yep, I know, not good, but have yet to put on my EIBC and DFA yet), and with the split dump and exhaust mods I made it to 350km's with between 1/4 and empty still showing on the guage. So I reckon it would be going close to 370km mark - all city driving. I am taking it for a trip next weekend, so I would expect to maybe get around 450 + km then. Its a fair improvement, but I reckon the big difference will be getting the fuel ratios right.
  3. If we get some decent snow soon, I am going to drive the Stagea up. Not sure whether this has been on the forum before, but will the transmission suffer any damage by leaving it in 50/50 4wd for long periods.
  4. Hi Mate, yep popped into the Mall to escape the winter. Hows the conversion shaping up?
  5. Very nice, that Red colour is pretty rare in OZ. Hope you enjoy your new ride, and you will have hours of fun finding out all sorts of things on the forum.....Welcome
  6. Pete, Hope you are back on line soon. I cant wait to bolt up the guide to finish that bit off. Let us know when you are back on...
  7. Yeah, like that wild blue one on another thread. The detail in integrating that body kit looks pretty good. Colour choice would make a huge difference though. Hey, anyone wanna bring that baby over here. Damn, if only I was 20 again!!
  8. I have just had a SS split dump pipe (AM Performance) put on to my Series 2, with a full 3" mild steel exhaust with a high flow cat and twin large bodied mufflers to quiet it down. Impressions. I can definately feel the difference. Getting off the line at low acceleration seems much easier, and I hardly need to touch the go pedal to keep it at a consistent speed. It now has a nice note to it (not too loud) at low revs, but virtually not noticable at freeway cruising speeds 100km + Acceleration is crisper, and I can definately notice that it is smoother through the rev range. When it gets over the 4.5k rpm it fairly flies, with no discernable restriction in air flow/exhaust flow. I am yet run through my first tank of fuel, so I will have to wait to find out whether the better flow = better mileage. Will post up results by end of the week. So first impressions are very good, and the driving and difference in the exhaust note has certainly enhanced the driving experience (i.e. I now feel like I am driving a high peformance car rather than a family wagon). P.s. The AM Performance Split Dump was VERY well made, highly recommended.
  9. Sounds awesome Brad. Nice to see it doin what it does best! Whilst I understand your motivation in not revealing the figures for the other Skyline owners, its driving us fellow Stagea owners nuts!!
  10. My Series 2 just got a bit better today with the split dump pipe and a full 3" hi-flow exhaust. It has a nice note to it now, and feels a bit smoother through the revs. Not having had a 33, I dont have much to compare it too, but I like the practicality of the Stagea and the fact that there they are much rarer than the now ubiquitous Skylines. Now its got the sound to go with the looks too, which is good. P.s. If you want to get a bit more squirt off the line, go the manual, but the tiptronic is just as good once you get going - The tiptronic is great through the twisties.
  11. Yep, like Marc, I'm Northside too. Nice little lake nearby. Some great roads towards the Cotter too.
  12. A few more pics might work better for you.
  13. I got on to the notion of buying a Stagea through my next door neighbour, who has an R32 GTR. I then chanced apon Marc's schmick looking Stagea when I was dropping my XR6t in. Anyway, I ended up buying one sight unseen whilst it was on the ship. I drove the car from Gold Coast to Canberra, so was able to get a good feel for its abilities. I was initially a little disappointed in my first drive. The ride was harsh, the power wasnt what I expected, and the handling took some getting used too. I am quite tall, and having the twin sunroofs meant that my drivers position took a little bit of finding. But you know, I am an optimist by nature. I realised that I had just jumped out of a late model, turbo beast with all the fruit, into something a little different. I am also a realist, and I knew that it would be much better after a long drive home. I did have fun flying through the Gold Coast hinterland, and started to appreciate how the Attessa system operates, and adjusted my driving accordingly. On the long run home, I appreciated how comfortable it was, with the climate control working perfectly, and the seats nice and supportive. After the second tank of optimax, I got some clear runs through some of my favourite roads in the early hours of Sunday morning, when no one else was around. I was starting to really enjoy the surefootedness of the all paw drive, and the power available from around 115 up was great (of course, only on brief overtaking forays ;-> ) After stopping overnight, I set off again in the morning, the sun was shining through the sunroofs, the RB 25DET was thanking me for a good run and I was getting some looks through town. It was then that I realised that I was driving something pretty special. I can feel the engine wants to breathe a bit better, so that is being organised through some exhaust and intake mods. I will eventually get the bilstein suspension, and I am sure the swaybars will help some of the roll. Of course, the most important thing is that the Missus loves it!! Its her daily driver, and I have to prise her out of it for a drive! I am excited about the fact that it will just keep getting better, and increase our enjoyment of its capabilities! P.s. I agree totally with SK too!!! In fact, great people like him, and many others on this forum, only add to the enjoyment of owning a Stag. Enjoy!
  14. Alex, I assume these are the whitelines? will they fit the series 2? Cheers
  15. Holy shit though!!, check out that interior, that deep, deep paint and those wheels - they rock. Might not be a Stagea, but as a fellow waggoneer, I dips me lid.
  16. Yeah Leshy, My missus would have been driving for sure. I am hanging out for my split dump pipe to arrive so that I can let my baby breathe a bit better. How is your manual conversion coming along?
  17. I recommend going to Discount Tyres Belconnen or Gungahlin, where Marc should be able to help out. He is a Stagea owner, and I get all my work done there. Good, reliable service and easy to deal with.
  18. To get the mirrors to fold in automatically on my Series 2, I have to make sure that the switch close to the mirror toggle switch is pushed to the right. Mirrors then fold in automatically when the doors are locked. Dont know whether this is your problem?
