  1. Has anyone out there removed an R34 side mirror? There is three screws underneath and if I unscrew them will as is sometime times typical of playing around with these things explode into missing gears and springs! The folding mirror is starting to play up and now needs a small nudge when opening out. Once its opened out it will freely close when required. Not sure if it is the motor, gearing,or clutches etc. Would like to inspect if I can, but not sure what will happen if I do! Also could anyone tell me if the mirrors on a GTR R34 are the same as on a R34 GTT as I'm able to pick a couple up at a very reasonable price. Ron
  2. Logical spot end of centre console under radio etc. I'd watch out on dash mounting a lot of heat there when parking during the day. The dash mounting looks a bit tacky.
  3. The above makes a lot of sense. The key is in fitting a Power FC, freeing up of exhaust and a suitable boost controller. I'm not sure what type of turbo impeller you have (ceramic or metal),metal is another key in this department as running over 1 bar with ceramic spells trouble. You will need metal impellers if running over 1 bar. Of course a larger intercooler would be nice. But as we know with Skylines they can suck up a lot of moola ($$$)
  4. I made a claim last year following a Granma running into the back of my GTR R33. Famous were very good in settling claim etc no hassles whatsoever. The company is based in Western Australia, distance was no problem I live in NSW. Underwriters are a British Company registered in one of their islands for I guess tax purposes. Famous have a website which is currently under reconstruction. Ring them for the name of the Underwriters and then check them through Google. I did sometime ago and remember that the underwriters were big time as insurance companies go in the world market. Also looked at some of the Directors profiles. They too ckeckout to be OK.
  5. Current R34 I drive is black.Prior to that I drove a black R33 GTR. On both cars I used Colour Shield which is a teflon coating that bonds to the paint. All that is needed to keep car clean is a hosing down and a buff up with a micro-fibre cloth. Every 4 to 5 months (makers reckon every 12 months) I use a special polish they supply to boost finish. Car and finish look great. The 33 I had for almost 5yrs and finish was maintained over that time. The R34 I've had 10 months. Black takes a little extra effort but the look pays off. The key before using the teflon bond is to prepare the car first with an extremely light cutting compound polish (Auto Glym Renovator 02B). The Colour Shield lasts around 3 to 5 years. Look if your are going to own a Skyline the car's going to be well looked after ( I hope!). Black is well worth the extra effort.

  8. Anyone been pull up because of non regulated parking lights. I removed blue LED front parking filiments and replaced them with yellow LED's . The wife wants me to put the blue back in which look fantastic as they have a blue neon haze effect. They match the interior light and blue neons which are fitted front, rear and under the R34 we drive. ( these we know are illegal to drive with on public roads, but we occassionally switch on when hooning about ). I could act dumb and at my age (61yrs) senile if the boys in blue get a bit bureaucratic. Worth the risk with the blue parkers ? Please the missus! Let me know.
  9. Our GTR R33 VSpec was our daily drive (we clocked up 130000k's) doing the shopping etc.I'm retired. Our current R34 Vspec is now our daily drive (it's the only car we have). It's fitted with two immobilisers, fuel cut off switch and if parking off the street a bull lock that fits over brake and clutch pedal. Touch wood haven't had any dings. Most people generally give the car a wide birth when they park. I call it respect. I don't kid myself though. I know of a good spray painter in our area. Haven't used him yet I'm a bit more particular where I park the 34. Preferably on the street where there is plenty of people around.
  10. I have blue neons front back and on sides of my R34 . Checkout my photoes the one of the car in the garage (not a good photo ). I'll post another photo in next couple of days (when it stops raining and I can take a better one). They're only good for Maca's carpark or auto shows.Illegal on the street.NB: Not illegal in NSW to have fitted to your car. (RTA will confirm this. I suggest you email them re fitting of the lights.Keep the reply email from them as it will confirm that you can have them on the car.Handy when you next Rego the car.Stops any dispute with checking mechanic )
  11. I emailed RTA technicial division in NSW regarding Neon lights. They official replied that lights are legal and can be fitted to car usually for show purposes. They cannot be used in a public place ( on the road). I also spoke to them over the phone. I jockingly said "How about Maca's "or a similiar off road venue. They couldn't see any problem. The main thing is that in NSW they can't fail you on rego checks if fitted. The RTA bloke suggested I keep copy of email if a dispute arises when rego check at local authorised workshop.
  12. Currently driving an extensively enhanced GTR R34 fitted with a HKS GD MAX Clutch ( twin plate). It is fitted with a hydraulic clutch booster. I understand they fit these to heavy 4wds . Very light and smooth in all gears particularly in traffic. Car currently pulls over 300kws at the wheels. Gear changes very easy. 1st gear when taking off quickly needs a bit of practice as clutch pedal is light, but once moving no problem.
  13. Plan on taking our extensively enhanced GTR R34 to Tassie for a short trip. As there is no 98 octane fuel available there it has been suggested to lower my boost to say .8 bar ( currently it is configured through an Apexi AVC-R boost controller at 1.2 bar) and use a good octane booster with premium fuel (95 octane) which is available over there. Any one had any experience or comments re the suggestion ? I'm presuming these octane boosters work. Of course being a retiree the beast probably won't even get to its boost parameters (chuckle). What am I saying! I lie.
