  1. I've seen a lot of 300s with the '300ZX' lit up, but most are lit up in an aqua colour (from the factory). If I buy a 300ZX, I'll see if I can't put in a dark blue neon. And a separate control switch while I'm in there.
  2. If somebody else hits you, why does your insurance company even get involved? Shouldn't it go through the other party's company?
  3. I'll offer him $1,000 for the car and $14,000 for the stereo. dAVE: Would a standard mechanic do a proper job with a Japanese performance car? It's only an extra $100.00 to have a specialist look at it. You think I'd be better off saving my money? Also, I'd rather over-protect than under-protect my car. Regardless of its value, I can't afford to have it stolen. The one I'm looking to buy already has an alarm, but I am planning to install a Boomerang (or Boomerang clone)... I want pretty much everything but satellite tracking - including remote ignition ( :uh-huh: ). I'm also going to buy a club-lock. Aaand I'm going to have an army of kill switches put in. Then I'll still be careful where I park it.
  4. The car's already registered, but I had forgotten to allocate $200 to a mechanical check.
  5. Nah. Just buying from the Trading Post...
  6. I'm looking to privately purchase a $15,000 car. I've never bought a car before, so I'm trying to avoid any unexpected surprises by asking lots of seemingly obvious questions - like the following: So far, I've taken the following up-front costs into account: Car - $15,000. Registration - $154/year. Insurance (third party) - $600/year. Stamp Duty - $540. Alarm - $1,000. Is there anything else I might be missing?
  7. Brant's Nemisis alarm doesn't appear to have a remote ignition function, which I think is a necessity. I wonder if these Boomerang clones you mention actually work properly. I'd prefer to spend more than risk the well-being of my vehicle. Especially given my lack of comprehensive insurance and all.
  8. When I buy my car (soon), I'll install a Boomerang alarm/immobiliser. I've only received one quote, which was $1000 (inclusive of installation). Hopefully I'll be able to beat this price if I look around a bit more though. I'm in Adelaide, by the way. On a related note, I've never heard of a 300zx being stolen. Why is this?
  9. I'd be a bit uncomfortable with a blind purchase like that, considering a trip to Melbourne/Sydney is out of the question currently.
  10. I'm looking to buy a manual, two-door R33 GTS-t, preferably in white or black. I've been told that $18,000 or less should be ample for such a purchase, but I haven't been able to find anything in this price range (in car-yards, nor in the Trading Post). Can anybody offer any buying advice or suggestions?
  11. There goes his insurance pay-out...
  12. I was quoted $3,500/year - and I only have one demerit point. They don't seem very consistent. Either way, I can't afford it. I think I'll opt for third party, fire and theft.
