Can You Call A R33 Or R43 Gtr A Godzilla?
ish replied to mazgtr's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Does the word 'Godzilla' have any meaning? If so, what is it? Godzilla is the name of the giant sea-monster that is the star of a series of hit Japanese sci-fi movies. There are a few different stories as to where the name came from. It seems to have been made by combining two Japanese words - gorira, meaning 'gorilla,' and kujira, meaning 'whale,' to make the Japanese name 'Gojira.' In English, this name is written 'Godzilla.' So, you can see that, at least in name, Godzilla is half-gorilla and half-whale. Some people also say that originally the name was used as a nickname for a large man who worked at the movie studios where the Godzilla movies were made. You can find more information on Godzilla by checking out Hi-Tech Japan. -

hehe.... its a cool tag if it can get so many imaginations going .... as scathing mentioned its for all to see on the front cover of the mag... we should all have patend it because there was a wave of aftermarket products available once upon a time .... As i first mentioned well done the r32 for gaining such a title that the rest want and have depending on how you look at it its our title ...we penned it and we used it for A R32 review ...end of story! -
mate that is kinda an oximoron question.... think about it a bit more .....

Hey .... in the last few weeks i have been steadly ironing out the bugs in my recently purchased r32. Now most of the fix's have come from experienced people on this forum who have seen most issues well before i could ever diagnose as a new owner.... thanks BIG time for that SAU's The small issues i cant seem to solve localy or get diagnosed are as 1. turbo timer is intermitant and i am scared to turn the car of sometimes if i have moderatloey warmed up the exhaust side as sometimes it just cuts the engine ... the timer is import and only has minute change function..... Anyone know why this would happen ? 2. Car is always warmed up standing till temp is at perfect operating temp... the odd thing to me here i havent ever had ceramic twins before so i dont quite know how they react... Anyway until boost has been run through the turbos for a minute or so they sound like a cricket in the bush ... it dosent matter how long you warm it up for . the noise will be there until you have put a few gears changes using boost ... what is this ? is it normal because as soon as its been spooled a few times the noise changes to the usual air rushing sound..... 3. this is a basic problem i havent been able to test properly my self yet ... the car's leaving me stranded with run down battery .... Some days it fine and charging and then other days the volt meter starts to jump aound ? usualy leaving a flat battery from the engine using the battery power... this i will be sussing as today as much as i can as she let me down in public last night (out with the jumppak how humiliating) How does an alternator be good some days and not others? is this a symtom of a voltage rectifier on a LINE because i have only seen them over charge?

r32's are godzilla's..... Australian media dubbed them that during their raine in our racing history relating to its eaten everything and the name stuck... So its not A nissan thing ! R32s were released to win on the race track as fas a i know and the rest were a release for the pubic with extra fancies! i have no problem if the r33,s r34 or even the 35 want to ride coat tales of an aussie tag.... but R33's were never raced in Aus so i dont see how they could be... -
yeah i think the search has been playing up a bit lately.

my genoral view after having one for a month is.... Fantastic Fun but the car feels slightly fragile in a few ways to what Im used to ! Mega systems to moiniter and maintain or they will break down fast ! Knowledge is very limited unless you find Skyline gurus and you run the risk of tradesmen guessing problems ! you really have to plan maintenance in order as engine components are very cramped.... this is a big labor time cost if you have to pay for it! I am always asked if its a fake ??? Everyone with a playstation thinks there your friend and is getting one soon !

Hey ... I am waiting on a autometer lunar boost guage and a few others for my instument panel... the factory one reads all over the place I was under the impression the car was standard boost but after hours of reading and trips to the engine bay i realise the little cut of bit of rubber with yellow ring given to me in a plastic bag it the boost restrictors ... the boost rises to just over the little half way mark to the 7 on the factoy guage but i i dont really understand actualy what pressure it would be reading with these restrictors removed can some one quicly comment on what the boost in ps! would be with the restrictor removed?

i was lucky , i got a real freshy.... for now i am that impressed with the r32gtr i dont want to whind it up unless i know it wont hurt the driveline ,so i am doing as much research as i can... i would luv to give it a bit more psi but those ceramic things scare the shit outta me. Question guys ... if i left this car like this in standard form and drove it to its limits of power . Would it stay virtualy as fresh with in reason with regular servicing. Curious because rb30ets i have had have gone way over the 450000km in standard form ?

that will work well .... kinda on the laggier side with the .81 with a big kic in the pants comming on.... from what i am led to believe rear A/R is determined by inlet and engine capacity to be able to spool up at different times or give more HP depending on the A/r rating... a .9 would give more hp but spool up much slower a .7 would spool much quicker but less peak hp

heard nothing but good stuff about the Autronic ... many argue that they are on a par with Motec for smaller outlays. try the guys over at calaisturbo, theres many threads on them there... a popular choice for the hi powered vls

its either the blow off valves if installed or leak back through the turbo & pod from the butterfly snapping shut ... with turbo cars your dealing with forced air hence the more Air/boost that is trapped the bigger the air dose escaping... this is a size , lengh and volume of intake that changes the note of the masshoosszzzleeeppphhhtttfffhhggghhmmmmmmzzzzaaappp to a whoopwhoopwhoopptshhhhhh

ish replied to RBFIRE's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
well i know nothing about this subject except some people just know what there doing as far as making good ones (mufflers resinators) Now you will all scoff at this but its is entirly true ... I am new to skylines .well not that new always had a r31 daily! Now my gtr does the same thing ... gives me a headache after a few hours so i will be doing the same thing... years ago i got AVO kit for my rb30et....... to cut story short the res and the mufflers were 3 inch custom made (terrywilson design i think) this was simply the best note i have ever heard for a 3 inch mandrel, quiet but injection throaty ... I ended up storing, keeping it and moving on car later to have it spare when i bought another rb30et fitted with a 3 inch and import mufflers .... horrible !!! whole car sounded like a plane inside... i took car into shop and we converted from catback to AVO 3 inch res and muffler.... and guess what .8 more psi with less decibells .... now terry is not my hero but he seems to know how to make things so there legal and powerful .... Worth a bit of study i think .... noise is just defect material i am concinced NOW! -
hehe i dont see me selling mine ... tryed my first 6000 launch last night against a subby..whoa!!!
-
a kia Vs an EVO??? gee thats a resale value comparison!
-
interesting i just had the same prob .... changed the plug's and gapped them to .9 .... at first the problem was fixed but seems to change with different wieghts in the car ie 2 people as apposed to 1 etc. Will be waiting on your finds DriftR_33
-
how cool thanks Ruffels How funny the comments about trying to defect an evo with an evo hehe! its a dam good trick giving them a deal from mitsi .... what a good promo & test procedure ...we will use taxpayers money to research our cars under extreams ! luv it. i was lucky to be friends with a HWP dude and get a good look through his rexy a while back. hope he gets a go in one of these

R32 Gtr Running Costs: My Experience!
ish replied to benm's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
Bought R32 GTR last week... Paid $@)&)) traveled 600 kms to get ...$300 fluids ... $280 plug replacement , filter charge, Car check plus labor on fluids ...$456 Ac ...$200 window tint ... $350 (black car) had to be done ! to do.... yet to estimate brakes airfilter upgrade CV right side front just starting to click on hard lock ... <----- scary never repaired one berfore... All worth it to know its humming -
i just bought mine and finished servicing it plus ironing out a few bugs... the fluids alone colst $280 plug replacement and filtercharge plus labor on the fluids $456 Ac $200 and a few revisits with blowing fuse that i ended up nailing, All i have left is to upgrade to Apexi airfilters. there such wiked cars, if you have the money and patience to find someone that knows what their doing ...which is what i have found the hardest, You gotta interview the mechanic... lol the biggest plus i think is a bit of mechanical aptitude and being able to spot things before they break etc Also Insurance is the killer if your young but for me it was all worth it when i took it for a drive ...
