Hey guys, I was after information, about insuring my car as im under 21. Many companies let you insure it and if an under 25 driver crashes it its a higher excess. allowing me to put it in my parents name, getting a cheeper premium and if i crash a much higher excess. NRMA will do this, shannons insurance i was holding out on but they do this same thing but its only a higher excess if someone for 21-25 crashes the insurance is totally invoid if there under 21. Basiclly im goign to put the insurance in my parents name to save money, i was just wondering who is in my situation or has any knowledge on the situation. Much apricated Michael

Hi guys i asked a couple of questions at once in the forced induction section and i only got one response to this one, as most commented on the other questions. Basiclly it says it for itself what coolent shoudl i use in my R33 RB25DET??? Ive herd coolent isn't coolent, and it depends what type of metal the head is to what type of coolent you use. I don't want the top of the rang big $$$ coolent and i dont' want cheep nasty crap, so basiclly somthing you guys feel's is a good coolent at a reasonable price. Michael

Hi i was wondering if ne one else has come across this problem, when i start the car, theres a clicking sound that goes, click click clik abotu 5-7 times coming from where the windscreen vent is. It stops after this and the air con and everythign works fine, its got me puzzled? Anybody aware of this problem???

You got unlucky, i'm 17 on my P's but got my licence before july or june 11th w/e it was so yeah the conditions dont' apply to me. Do the condition Y thingy on the licence drop of when your on your greens, or when you go to you blacks????

I give him a half out of 10 for the home paint job, i could of done better by boiling a pot of house paint, and brushing it on.

300zx has my vote, you can pick up really good NA's for around 10, with out really anywork needed. If your planing on getting one, get it now not in 5months, apparently legislation has changed with improting 15yo cars so ive herd they recon the zx's will go back up in price. I feel the zx turns more heads then a stock r32, (thats jsut my oppinion) my mate owned one for a few months and there not as common as skylines, so when you see one with the roof of you tend to get alot of looks. As for visibility, i drove the zx and its pritty piss poor for a young driver, my first skyline i drove was the r33 gtst, and i felt like i was sitting in a high chair compared to the zx, so as for visability the skyline has my vote. When leanring a new car, if you get a z32 and it has a front bar, on it i dought it'll last, its really hard to tell where the front of the car is on the z32, alot of guess work, wich is hard when your learning a new car. As for parts i don't agree with ppls comments, the aus300zx forum is a graet source for offen perfect second hand parts. First of all the NA engine is bullet proof, but if parts are needed ppl are forever writing these cars of, as my friend did, now we have been stripping her down and selling part of it, and i tell ya you can pick up alot of parts very very cheep. Thats also how i can comment on the z32 engine bay, freom stippring it all over i can tell you working on it sucks LOL you need to be 12years old with small hands to get into half the places. As a young P plater with the new regulations (thanks god i got it a few months before) you should hold onto it for the 3 years or w/e it is, and then sell it and buy a turbo'd skyline. Honstly i feel a stock NA Z32 would out run a stock NA r32 no questions asked, others will argue, but after racing around in one, you will see how well the z's handle the corners, i thinks its becuase there really wide low cars, im not sure. Anyway thats my 2cents worth, but i would go the 300zx I was in your boat about 1 week ago tossing upbetween a skyline or zx, and i ended up with the r33 gtst and coudlnt' be happy, but if i was on the new regulations with non turbo requirments i would probably has chosen the z32.

Yep i'll get onto that this afternoon? I have to put the images on a hosting site right then upload the url???? (that how it's done in other forums is it done that way here) As for the oil filter, i bought a RYCO one it's Z145A, it says sutiable for 300zx twin turbo's, skyling 3.0l from i think it said 87-91, nothing abotu RB or later skylines. Is this becuase its a import, and they don't have it on the computer data base, or on the back of the packet. The guy at REPCO assured me it was right. But on the central coast there isn't as many R33's so i dought he's had too much experence. What are your thoughts. Oh on insurance, my mum can get it insured for full comp in her name and for $1,800 and if i crash i jsut pay a heavy $2.7k ecsess, the insurence is a killer, im jsut lucky my mums prepared to put it in her name, with a perfect driving record LOL Michael

Yeah. You are allways told how slippery it is in teh rain and untill you feel it for your self you never really understand the extent of it. I unforchantly found out the hard way, since my crash nearly 7months ago i drive so differently in the rain. What coolent woudlk you guys sujest i use??? And are Ryco, oil filters fine for this car???? I'm planing on giving it a oil change to morrow, and the guy who i bough it of, obviously hasn't put coolent in it for ages its like water with a slight sligh slgih green, suprisingly it doesn't run hot, but im not going to risk it. Dose any one know, the oil capacity the R33 RB25DET takes??? Thanks I can't find a dam owners hand book anywhere on the net, you woudl think theres a pdf. file some where.

Thanks guys, well what can i say, first impressions count, and i made a post on the forum and i had 7 replies within a few hours, wow. I want to say thankyou to eveyone and don't consider it a lecture, i feel kinda happy that the people on this board are careing enough to pass on words of wisdom to somone they just met. Unforchantly mid last year i wrote of my dads work VZ commodore in the wet on the way to work........................um......... what can i say, i actully live on a property 10acres so ive allways been aroudn paddock bashes moto's etc, and yeah even with a few years up on my friends, and i still crashed. I'm going to be so carefull, i have my HSC this year and the last thing i need is more added stress. As for the nice body kit comment its got a GTR 400R kit, wich i think looks kinda cool i'll upload pics soon when i get a chance. Does anyone know of the best insurance company to deal with these cars are??? I'm putting it in my mums name tomorrow when i can get to the RTA, and with her drivign record and stating her 17 year old sons going to drive "HER" car LOL they quoted 1.8k a year for full comprehensive, insured at $10,000. Hmmm it's alot of money........ im scared, of some dickhead hitting me and not having insurance........ stolen........or i crash it Sorry for the 101 questions, but im looking for the rubber boot that goes over the top part of the manual gear leaver just under the underlay stuff. Does anyone know what im talking about, it's missing it so you can hear the air coming through when you exceed 80km/h. Thansk again for eveyones replys. Michael

Hello everyone, let me start by saying this is my first post and i bought myself my first Skyline last night, i havn't owned it for 24horus yet and im in love LOL I'm 17 and still at school, and have allways loved these cars, now i'm finally paying off, and pritty much ownign my first skyline, a R33 Gts25t My first question is to everyone out there is, can i get an online (without purchasing of ebay etc) a R33 GTS-25T (1993) Users Manual??? The other, question wich might spark a debate, is what's the best engine oil to use in it??? I've read invoices from the previous owner where performace mechanical workshops use Mobile 1 full synthetic. However my parents friend, who i really trust, (he rallys, and has been around rb's and all motors his wole life) sujest that i should use the Mobile S 10w40 instead??? Now my dad puts that stuff in my mums commodore HAHAHAH, and i read the back and it said it's sutiable for turbo charged cars. I'm jsut curious??? What do most ppl on this forum feel.
