  1. the r33 gts4 weighs 1460 from the factory. The GTT 1410. Thats 50kg in weight alone. With the lower levels of power the launch isnt going to be that much of an advantage in the gts4. Even with minimal driveline loss in the 4wd, there is still a loss. So power is down, weight is up. Once power levels increase the 4wd gts4 will start to have an advantage in a drag race.
  2. I just got my exhaust done on my car. I got full 3" system from dump pipe back with 2 resonators and 1 semi straight through 3" in/out muffler. The noise was intolerable. It was pretty raw and aggressive when on full throttle and sounded kinda cool but for everday driving below 3000rpm the drone was actually painful to the ears! I got the muffler switched to a 3" in/out with an sbend type arrangement in it and its heaps better. Doesnt feel any different either. Perhaps hunt down a higher flow muffler?
  3. awesome. Ive always felt the skyline/stag/laurel/cef/silvia design is very forgiving without being dull to drive. They feel big to start with but eventually fit around you like a glove.
  4. i dont think theres rear parcel speakers for a stag. They have em in the doors in the rear as far as i know. I dont know why youd upgrade them anyway. Get some decent front speakers and then amp and sub.
  5. For all you mis-informed people. The R34 GTT weighs less than an R33 GTS4. Say you do a straight swap of an r33/r34 25det engine into the gts4 then you will end up with a car that is heavier, has a heavier driveline and more driveline losses than an R34 GTT. The GTT wins this, no contest.
  6. if you watch carefully it is accelerating for about 12-13 seconds... It could have been faster i guess.
  7. yeah theyre drift/racetech brand. They arent bad for cheapie gauges. Better than autogauge. The AFR gauge ticks though as it flicks between rich and lean very quickly. I cant really justify the $$$ for greddy/apexi/defi gauges which are just for bling.
  8. This is how i did mine: I used to have it screwed into the steering column. I just plugged the hole with a panel plug.

  11. What you are describing is not R&R. I hit that same wall of sorts at about 5000rpm, as well as my friend with an R34. It seems to be a combination of high boost on less that WOT. We are totally unsure what it is. DFA will do nothing for this. R&R is a flat spot between about 4-5.5krpm, a DFA can help to alleviate most of this.

  15. Hey SK would you mind posting you DFA maps if you have a second? It would be an awesome reference. I too was quite suprised to see more air dialed in at 4-4.5k. I was running around on my road tune with about -6 set on the safc at these rpm and it felt MUCH better. I did hear a bit of det with anything higher than 0 on the timing with this setting though so i guess it may be getting quite borderline. I haqve already changed the settings that the tuner gave to: My SITC settings are: 0, +2, 0, -1, -1 SAFC are: 4000: +2 4500: -1 5000: -5 5500: -7 6000: -10 6500: -14 I think i will dial back 4500 and 4000 a bit more in the coming days and put my good ears on to see how it goes. I may also throw it on another dyno if a dyno day comes around. Kinda annoyed that i spent $340 and still had the monster boooobaaa R&R thing happening. Tangles: To check your safc settings hit the back button until you reach the main menu where you can select monitor/settings/etc. Select settings then select Hi-throttle. Then just browse over the different points to see what the settings are. Now when im rich i think ill go for a highflow, split dump and FMIC. Cheers. LR
  16. Theres also a 3.5 litre variant which has 200kw. They are all heavier than the current stagea but make more power/torque. I think the VQ25DET makes 405NM from the factory so its definately a true VQ grunter. My tuner had one on the dyno that was putting out about 160kw in standard form which sounds awesome for a stock vehicle.

  18. hey. Ill try and get a better scan some time. the AF on the final tune is aroun 11.5 and goes down to 11 at just over 5500 rpm. Boost is on the 11psi line to give you an idea. My SITC settings are: 0, +2, -2, -1, -1 SAFC are: 4000: +2 4500: +2 5000: -3 5500: -6 6000: -10 6500: -14 Mind sharing yours as well. Id be very keen to know. It appears the AF ratio is now safer than before below 5000rpm. Exhaust is 3" dump pipe back with not cat, 2x resonators and a semi straight through muffler.
  19. So i got my car tuned today with these 'mods': Apexi SAFC2 Apexi SITC Greddy Profec B S2 3" exhaust dump pipe back Filter BOV Came back with 169.8rwkw. Not sure whether to be pleased or not. I think its okay. Perhaps a FMIC would net a bit of gain. Tune seems to be rather safe at around 11.5 A/F ratios on 11ish psi boost. It feels wierd to drive, seems to have a fair bit of the original dip at 4500-5000rpm, maybe its just the fact that power picks up quite sharply after 5500rpm. Heres the printout for ya, a bit nasty as its a phone camera shot. Red is original/base tune at 6.5 psi peak, Blue is final tune. Boost seems to fall off after 5500rpm, so highflow turbo/front mount may be the next items on the agenda. Damn money pits these cars!

  22. definately looks like a base model RS four. But im inclined to think its a 25t X Four. This model came with wood grain, optional privacy glass but is supposed to have a front spoiler and fog lamps. You may want to check it out.

  24. The Z-tune is substantially more than just an r34 with a few go fast bits. It has been completely overhauled. The engine is completely rebuilt, modified and tuned to 500ps, It has different brakes, suspension, coolers, aero parts, interior. The whole car is pretty much redone! I believe it was made as a limited/anniversary edition to be the best a skyline could be. Its a definate weapon.
  25. Yep the 34tt will win due to lighter body and manual tranny. Bit of a blurgh comparison though.
