  1. I can give you an idea why your having problems selling/swapping this cage. The "KTS" safety 21 cages can be bought from http://www.tokage-racingimports.com for $800. The genuine Cusco Safety 21 cages are about $1200. Hope this information helps you get you PFC.
  2. I'm interested.... I would need to get it to Racepace for a full check over, engine comp/gearbox-suspension condition etc. Would that be OK? For around 20K it's going to have be in good mechanical condition and not need any money spent on it. To save us wasting any time can you tell me if it does actually need anything spent on it? ie clutch/brakes/tyres. Does it have any oil leaks? Blow smoke or use oil? Cheers
  3. Was the engine making this power levels with standard internals?
  4. Niiiice The more sensative SAU members will love this!!! free bump
  5. Interested if you can ship them to Melb but you seem to be dodging the question about how hard they are. Surely you can give us punters a reasonable idea other that "firmer than standard. Cheers
  6. Hi guy's, Looking for some options on upgrading while I am pulling the head off to fit the tomei oil restrictor. Spec's- 25 VCT head, 8.25:1 comp, std cams/valves. Will run up to 20psi. Price is an issue unfortunately..... Thanks
  7. Hi mate, I've left messages on your phone, please email on [email protected]. asap plz! I can come round today for a look and if its a straight one i will take it! 0421021089
  8. Thanks for your detailed reply Berin, I am a bit of a newby with forums and my boyfriend is about as sharp as a nuns nasty. I will run this info by my Dad "He works for Perkins Racing" and will get back to you if I am interested in making an offer. Thanks again Tracey Reply "Hi Tracey, I'm happy to answer any questions you might have, 1: when the new speedo was installed it was set to the same reading as the old one that was removed. 2: Its been running 260kw now for about 8 months an is still performing strong, its going in for a "check up" dyno tune on Monday, I do that every 6 months just to make sure everything is running the way it should. 3: The gates belt offers no power benifit but is 3 times stronger than a standard belt so it can withstand the output of the motor easily 4: The turbo can run 20psi, but I have not run it at that as it is a standard engine. 18psi is ok on the stock RB25's an 20psi would probably be ok, but im never one to push those limits. The power figures are made at 18psi and it performs strongly at this boost, but I mainly drive it set at 9psi. even at 9psi the car makes over 200kw 5: I've used it for 2 motokana days (where your lucky to get out of second gear an each run is shorter than 2 minutes) an even then it was on 9psi, because of the low speed nature of it theres no point in usung high boost settings. The car was always up to good operating temperature (oil & water) before I ever put it through any sort of event or dyno runs. Im very particular about my car an how I treat it, this is why it has been a constant strong performer with little to no faults ever happening to the car. hope this has cleared a few things up for you, if you have any further questions, please dont hesitate to ask Cheers Berin"
  9. Hi Berin, The car looks really neat and tidy. Just a few technical questions about the car. How many kays did the car do on the old speedometer? How many kays has the standard motor been running 260kw? Does the new "gates" timing belt give the engine any more power over a nissan belt? The turbo can run 20psi has the standard engine been modified to suit the extra boost? In your signature picture the car looks to be involved in some sort of motorsport. How often do you do this? Sorry for all the questions but there are so many stock cars out there with questionable service history that have been clocked in Japan and then live most of there life boosted to the edge of the limits of the standard engine. Thanks Tracey
  10. Excellent, I am not a hard man to please but I don't just believe anything I read off the net. Looks to be good data that has been proven on a dyno.......Now why is torque not lower in the rev range.....thats the next Q Cheers
  11. Hang on sec, this is a different dyno sheet? This shows a noticable difference in where peak power and RPM is at. encouraging.... Now, this is the important bit, is this representing the same engine and what was changed to get this rpm/power spread gain, just the plenum? If it is, this is the data I'm after!
  12. Cubes- "Have you ignored my previous posts? " A. No, they are interesting points its just that there is no dyno chart of MR2 engine before his new plenum was put on so the comparison is not between the same engine and there are too many variables to gain an accurate insight to the why's.. "The dyno sheet attached previously, the red plot is of an RB30DET making over 300rwkw with a gt35r .82, tomei poncam 260duration 9mm lift, std inlet manifold, std exhaust manifold, ~19psi and AVGAS. As you can see, an early rpm peak power. The same occured to the 'mr2' until he dropped an aftermarket plenum on." Q.Have you got the dyno of MR2's before he put the plenum on, that would give a pretty accurate indication! Q.What if MR1's early peak was caused by flow issues in the exhaust etc. Unless the other car had the same exhaust, that's another reason that makes it hard to compare. NOW, you still may be on to something, but I don't want to guess the soulution and waste $$ Now that these engines are becoming more popular, there must be some Guru's out there that know how to set them up right. They all want to nose dive up the top!!!! Back to your comments SilverBulletR33 "hang on. i thought we were talking about bringing up the torque curve, rather than making peak power at high rpm?. somewhere we have gone off track? .. " That's a great point! The 3L is a longer stroke than the 25 so its not going to want to rev as hard, SO..... with its bigger displacement should it not make more torque lower down the rev range.....WHY WHY WHY? Thanks Guys, keep it coming
  13. Thanks for the input guys, although we seem to be drifting off topic....Is anyone running engines with the standard inlet manifold and making over 300RWKW? I think the first test we are going to do is drop the exhaust and spin it up.....then put on an adapter to read the boost on the ex side....Mmmmmmmm
  14. Engine Specs- RB30/25 VVT/forgies/prepped STD rods/bearings from KFC (ha!) FMIC/3" exhaust/no cat/45mm Ext gate PFC/Z32 afm/550cc inj/big pump reg STD cams/STD head GT35 .82 exhaust/X-Force Stainless High Mount Manifold OK, it’s had two run in tunes and now had a hard tune after 3000Klms. It makes around 300rwkw @ 5500rpm on 17psi, BUT, any more boost than that is a waste-it wont make more power. More importantly it needs to get to at least 3800rpm before it makes good torque. That equates to 1700 RPM of good power to work with.......to me that's a narrow power range for a street engine. Although not exactly the same, my 02 WRX STi has a similar narrow power band and it's a pig in traffic! When building this I new it was not going to be a high revving thing like a 26, but I was looking forward to the torque monster the bigger 3L was meant to be. Am I expecting too much or do I need to keep developing the thing and start changing cams or maybe even the turbo? For the 3L , I thought the .82 ex was a great match for some low rpm hussle. The tuner is quite experienced with RB's and the timing map and AFR's looks pretty good. His first thought was that there might be some restriction in the exhaust side of things.... but in the mean time till we do more testing.... ANY IDEA"S GENTLEMEN? Dyno attached for your perusal.....
  15. Hi Mate, Wow, you bought a new turbo and rebuilt it just to sell? Why didn't you take it back if you thought it a bit iffy? I'm sure they would have given your money back if it was unused! Did you also rebuild the new one you put on current car? Will you accept an offer?
  16. Couple of simple questions from a newbie. Is a 360 degree thrust bearing a bush or roller bearing? Why does it have "turbocharger" written on its id plate?
  17. AHA! Found a full new set for $225Aus from eBay in the states. Problem solved. Just to let the team know that VG30 turbo and NA use the same part! (eg z32 300zx).
  18. Looks like a killer setup with that XS-Power turbo! I assume you where gunna run some monster boost to match that super low compression. You VL guys make me smile! Keep at it champ!
  19. Someone must know a solution, come on guys think! Get a beer and think again!!
