Eucalyptus oil should be fine, but if there's any concern that it may damage, fade or cause hazing to plastic, it can be tested in an inconspicuous area first.

When a squeal occurs for a few seconds on cold starts, it's generally caused by moisture on the belt/pulley. Soap absorbs moisture, so unless people want to get the hair dryer out to dry the soap every morning, it's still not a very viable option. It would be easier to by-pass the soap altogether, and just blow-dry the belts.

What's Happening With The Wiki?
SKY031 replied to sigsputnik's topic in Site discussion - including Ideas/Feedback & Bugs
no wiki love? -
Don't put soap on your belts. Soap acts as a lubricant. Lubricant will cause the belt to slip more, only it won't be audible. The belt/s are not meant to slip. For more info on the same issue, see this thread.

It's wrong because it's not right... well it's right, but it's misleading. What you actually said was: Do you think that when vicroads say "The new high powered vehicle restrictions for P drivers will start from July 2007", they actually mean 2008? Perhaps you should ring Vicroads and tell them that they got their information wrong, and they weren't listening to your cousin when he told them which new rules were being introduced, and when it was happening. Give them a call, here's their number 13 11 71

I was going to add timing to the list but slip beat me to it ..and to all the people who have said "cams"... it's an RB30E, it only has one cam, singular ..also with the cam, if you want anything more than a mild grind, you'll need to get the lifter housings machined, and buy a new set of lifters. Sometimes dads know what they're talking about. This is one of those times. You won't see any real "powa" without spending a truckload, or going turbo. Put the money where it's better spent. Upgrade suspension and brakes, get a decent security system, start saving some money, and by the time you're off you're P's you'll have enough money to do whatever you want. (and you'll also have a lot more driving experience, and know how to handle the car better) blackprincegts, it sounds like your friends brothers car may have had some problems with it. The RB30E and the RB20DE have close to the same power output, (it may even be the same output, can anyone confirm?) and the R31 is lighter. With all the mods you listed, he should have been able to pull away from you.

You're still missing the point, it's currently illegal for P platers to drive high powered vehicles. That means.... it's not legal now. The facts: (note, this information has not come from someones cousin/friend/cat, it's directly from a Victorian Government road safety site.) The new graduated licensing system will be introduced gradually over the next two years to make sure that young drivers are prepared for each new requirement as it is implemented. The new learner permit rules will start from July 2007, as will the new high powered vehicle restrictions for P drivers. All the new P1/P2 rules and the new driving test will start from July 2008. http://www.arrivealive.vic.gov.au/c_youngGLS_1.html sillylankan, people are already confused enough about this, please stop confusing the facts.

Have you considered buying another set of 4 so you can have 2 spares as replacements to tinker/play swapsies with in the future? You'd have test parts on hand if you think you've got an injector problem, (cracked, blocked, leaking etc) and if you wanted to replace the entire set, you'd only have to buy another set of 4, because you'd already have 2.

Just because you haven't seen something first hand, doesn't mean it doesn't exist, or doesn't happen. I've never seen a volcano erupt, so to say that volcanos don't erupt just because I've never personally seen it happen, would be pure ignorance. Plenty of people here have already stated that they've been caught driving a high powered vehicle, and had to suffer the consequences of fines. Of these people, one has said they got 2 in 2 days, someone else has said they got 5 in a 12 month period. The thread starter has also noted that they live in an area where imports are highly targeted by Police, due to the fact that they're easy targets because most have illegal modifications. As well as losing points and getting a fine, you also have to stuff around returning everything to stock, then go out and get a roadworthy done, and once you think you're in the clear, a letter from the EPA arrives. No, it's not cool. There are already laws in place that say P platers aren't currently permitted to drive high powered vehicles. You'll still be subjected to fines and loss of points, there are blanket laws which will be applied to all P platers. However, you'll still be able to legally do things like use a hands free, and tow a trailer.

Now more than ever, Police are aware of what's what. Police recently had to attend "hoon school" since the introduction of the new hoon laws, so they've been recently educated in regards to what's legal. So.. you don't like taking money, but you're going to get your mummy to pay for petrol? Also take into account that the new graduated licencing system comes into play next year. This means restrictions on driving high powered vehicles such as eight cylinder cars, cars with turbocharged or supercharged engines, and nominated high performance six-cylinder cars. Offences will attract a fine and three demerit points.

If you're looking for graduate positions, they're often advertised on the companys websites. Here's a bunch more (I haven't checked if they've been listed yet, some may be doubles) https://jobsearch.gov.au http://www.careerone.com.au/ http://www.chandlermacleod.com/jobs/ http://www.vic.bigredsky.com/ http://www.motorstaff.com.au/ http://www.job-directory.com.au/ http://www.psgazette.gov.au/ http://www.alia.org.au/employment/vacancies/ Then there are company specific ones... these can be found on pretty much any website, just look for the "jobs" or "careers" option in their menus. couple of examples: http://www.jbhifi.com.au/jobs/index.php http://auspostvic.nga.net.au/fnt_applicati...w.cfm?JobID=869 http://www.harveynorman.com.au/searchonlinejobs.tho http://www.southernhealth.org.au/

Little update for the week, no more in relation to Sandown yet, just a couple more stacks involving people getting trapped in vehicles. I hope all the people who constantly complain about traffic laws being too harsh are starting to absorb some of this material. This really is a major concern, Victoria is facing its highest fire risk ever, and instead of being on stand-by to attend fires, the fire crews are out peeling cars off people. I understand that part of their job is resuce work, but if fire crews are unable to attend fires due to peoples inability to drive safely, many more lives (as well as homes and businesses) are put at risk. Better image of the scene ...and another one trapped...

Try raising the door a smidge.

It might help if you add your location to your profile, or at least tell people where you are, this sort of thing varies from state to state, so nobody can make a call on "what's legal" without knowing where you are.

Ash, I've never seen two drivers have a "friendly chat" about what someone may or may not have done wrong. Sounds like inark has some idea of the ridiculous things that happen around here. There are so many "automotive news" stories that I'd love to share, but most are pending cases and/or could be considered offensive, so they're best kept off the board. ..anyway, back to the happier news 4WD track at Sandown sounds like a good thing. :sorcerer:

There are only 2 sigs with images in the thread. one is hosted on iinet the other(s) are from userbars.com There are more sig images in this thread than there are in the one in question. One of the avatar images is hosted on ns.com If users have been IP banned from NS, would that stop the image from loading? Humour me... if the above thread won't load, see if this thread loads for you http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...howtopic=111732 -
I think you need to get over this whole "deputising" thing. Why would anyone need to be "deputised" to report crime? If you witness someone being forced off the road by another vehicle, or if you see a child get run down in the street and the driver speeds off, you're largely lacking in basic common sense, good judgement, compassion and any regard for fellow human beings who become victims while going about their every day life. If you're adamant that your views on this are right, you'd better go off and campaign to have Crime Stoppers shut down.

Laws vary from state to state. The states that are toughest on these things (NSW & VIC) have both revised/updated laws since this thread was started (about 11 months ago) Ask (or search) in your local state section for more information.
